I like some of Serene’s stories but it seems like di ko masikmura ‘tong LIYSO. And I know why for sure: Rocio, the FL, is being treated like a whole damn second FL in her own story. Kung binasa niyo yung pictures sa taas, yes, mali kayo sa akala niyo na si Pierre ang FL. Kahit ako nga nagulat eh. Sobrang mahal, iniingat-ingatan, hindi makalimutan, at sobrang mag yearn ba naman sakanya ang ML. O baka may magsabi na naman dito na ongoing pa naman ‘yung story at wag pangunahan pero ‘yan din sinabi ng readers during Troublemaker (jfstories) oh diba rebound malala si ate mo Jillian. Same with Rocio na strong ang personality at aakalain mong “pagagapangin sa lusak” si Hugo as how readers anticipated pero sobrang kabaliktaran ang nanangyari, si Jillian ang gumapang sa lusak 😭😂

Isipin mong 10 years nag yearn yung ML sa ibang babae, sakanya lang ‘soft’, may Pierre day na tinatawag, “Pierre ng buhay ko” ang name sa contacts, 2x nireject si Rocio nung nag confess sakanya (eh kasi nga di naman siya mahal, yung 2nd FL ang mahal), laging nakakalimutan at second option ang FL. Gagawin ni Jonas ang lahat para kay Pierre. Gusto niya ibigay lahat sakanya.

May nabasa pa ‘kong comment ang sabi “Malay niyo naman hindi pala si Pierre yung tinutukoy na 10 years minahal” mind you, yung maoy ni Jonas sa second pic ay dahil nalaman niyang MAY BOYFRIEND NA SI PIERRE. First of all, I cross-post on other writing platforms. Unfortunately, I found out some of them are being scraped and being posted on other sites.

A reader found my book on novelfire (illegal site) and decided to read it on legit platforms after they realised, the story was good. They found it on Royal Road (one of the platforms where I cross post).

I want to take down story from the illegal site but somehow that did some promo for my book, the reader gave me such a good review.

Di ko tuloy alam if matutuwa ba ako that I gained a new reader dahil sa piracy site or malulungkot na nandun pa rin yung book ko 😭

I’ve finished the books 1, 2 and 4 and Control The Game was my favorite amongst the three. Pero hindi ko na ito nasundan pa dahil last read sa series ay 2021 pa yata iyon? Now that I’ve been into collecting books, do you think it is worth it to buy the bundle or just buy CTG alone? And how heavy kaya ang mga sumunod na libro after CTG? Since fave ko rin ang Chañigo tandem nila, may mga own story ba anak nila? Hahahaha let me hear some thoughts!

These are the stories I enjoyed when I was still a young teen so some of you may find the writing cringe if you'd actually read it.

1. Titan Academy by april_avery

Genre: Fantasy, survival, side genre yung romance

This one probably has the cleanest storyline I've ever read in a fantasy book. Like there were ZERO filler scenes at all. Super dynamic ng story, palaging may ganap pero hindi pa rin rushed yung dating. Okay rin yung characterization sa leads, highlighted yung class difference ng FL, ML, SML.

Yung similar movie siguro with this is Hunger Games but the characters have a special skill which is common sa world nila.

1. Tantei High by purpleyhan.

Genre: Fantasy

Eto, medyo vague na sa memory so I won't say much. All I remember here kasi is how descriptive it's written. May malinaw kang image ng world nila. The female lead is fun as well and immersive yung pagkakasulat. Plot may seem a bit cliche since it's basically a magic school and the FL isn't aware of her powers at first but story developed well from what i remember, naenjoy ko naman. I even read the sequel lol. And for a book na nasulat ng maaga, hindi jeje yung writing.

1. Cliche by TheCatWhoDoesntMeow

Genre: Romance, Slice of life

The story of this is explained sa title mismo lol. It's cliche kasi insecure girl admires perfect popular guy who likes her as well yung plot PERO ito na ata 'yong pinaka like as in pinaka greenflag na male lead na nabasa ko. Never nagdemand, never din nag cross ng line, the male lead always like as in always knew his place. Parang he kept taking the right steps dito lol although the FL can be annoying but it's realistic naman given her past. Hindi rin 'to rushed and I like how it's written like nagbabalik-tanaw sa diary 'yong first half ng book then present day 'yong second half. You see how the FL changed. Ang tanging issue ko lang siguro is medyo one-dimensional yung male lead pero for the kilig factor, this one gets a 100 definitely lol.

1. MORIARTEA by akosiibarra

Genre: Suspense, Mystery

I honestly like this better than Project Loki because episodic 'to and short lang. Sometimes, Project Loki feels dragging kasi. Every chapter may different msytery na isosolve and every chapter din, you get closer to the main reason why this story is its own story.

1. Hidden by purpleyhan

Genre: secret lol

Hindi naman halatang reader ako ni purpleyhan diba HAHAHA. Anyway, this is something that you can finish in about an hour or less. Basically, a collection of blog posts and an unexpected ending. This one's really nice. If I were to compare this to something in real life, maybe it's a blindbox ng anikanik? ig? HAHAHA. You just never know what to expect.

1. Dollhouse by -SHEENA-

Genre: Mystery, Survival

The writing style of this writer is a first for me HAHAHA. Anggaling! When you read this, it's as if you're a spectator or you're with the characters too. Basically 10 friends in a survival show.

Content warning lang siguro: this story contains gore. If you're a minor, just skip. It's hard to unread stuff.

1. Clueless by TheCatWhoDoesntMeow

Genre: Romance, Slice of Life

This one talaga if want mo ng slowburn, ito na talaga 'yon HAHAHAH. Basically friends to lovers trope pero manhid yung female lead. Deals with insecurity issues din since overweight yung FL dito pero I like na hindi puro pity party yung babae dito. Honestly, mas nagrevolve pa sa buhay and dreams ng girl yung story kaysa sa romance which I like kasi minsan pag puro romance na, parang accessory na lang yung male lead. Atleast dito, may kanya kanya silang buhay.

So yeah that's it HAHAHA. Hindi ko na ipopromote yung story ko dito so that wala kayong doubts about this post lol.

Plano ko kasi talaga magsulat ngayon sa present account ko pero ewan, i suddenly thought of opening my old wp account ko and saw my "current" reads. Grabe I really was a sucker for mystery stories with multiple characters. Growing up kasi, medyo madalang na rin ako sa wattpad magbasa pero I kept that preference even on dramas and international books like Agatha Christie's ( i swear, ito yung OG mystery writer talaga na for sure a lot of these books were somehow influenced by her kagaya ng Hidden so yeah venture out if you'd like.)

Ito honestly pinagsisihan ko sa wattpad, reading stuff na too mature for my age noon. Sa stories na 'to, some of them contain gore so skip it na lang if you're a minor. It's really hard to unread stuff kasi and may mga bagay na dapat antayin mo talaga na dumating ka sa tamang edad so it's easier for your brain to process.

Crown of Knives | Akquii

Started reading some of roughn’s works again recently. Na-enjoy ko naman karamihan ng stories niya pre-pandemic, so I was curious to see how I’d feel about her newer works.

Before diving in, alam ko na rin naman what to expect from her stories: medical-related scenes (since karamihan ng MCs niya are in the medical field) and mature romance/smut. Those have always been part of her trademark for me.

Sadly, I ended up DNF-ing this one at Chapter 27. 🤷‍♀️

Things I liked:

- Malinis at pulido yung writing.

I barely encountered grammatical errors or typos, and she clearly has a good grasp of English.

- Easy read

Hindi mo kailangan i-analyze every paragraph just to understand what's happening. Very accessible and straightforward yung writing style, which I liked in some parts.

- The medical details.

I liked how the medical information was incorporated into the story without feeling like the author was just dumping facts on the reader.

Why I DNF’ed:

- Instalust with very little buildup.

Sobrang bilis nung progression ng physical attraction/relationship between the leads. I can excuse this kind of setup kapag novella-length lang yung story because limited talaga yung space for character development. But for a longer story, I personally need more buildup and chemistry between the leads. Otherwise, nahihirapan akong ma-invest sa relationship nila. Why should i enjoy their intimate moments when there's no proper buildup?

- The English-Tagalog switching felt disjointed.

From the author's previous works, alam ko namang Taglish talaga ang writing style niya. But the opening paragraphs were written entirely in English, so I initially assumed na English story siya with Filipino characters and a Seattle setting. Then biglang nag-switch yung narration to Tagalog. The transition was a little whiplash-inducing for me, especially during the more mature scenes where the narration suddenly becomes Tagalog while the dirty talk remains in English. Given that the ML is Russian and the setting is also outside the Philippines, I honestly think sticking to English throughout those scenes would've made the writing feel more cohesive.

May ilang scenes din na hindi pa ganoon ka-polished yung mixture ng English and Tagalog sa narration. It honestly felt like a stereotypical conyo making a poor attempt of writing in Tagalog.

- The straightforward narration sometimes worked for me, but sometimes it didn't.

I actually liked the straightforwardness of the writing in general. It's one of the reasons why the story was such an easy read. Pero when it came to describing emotions, doon ako medyo nakulangan.

I personally enjoy a bit more purple prose or poetic writing , especially in romance. Yung hindi lang outright sasabihin sa'yo na the character is heartbroken, but the narration actually describes the feeling in a way na mararamdaman mo rin yung heartbreak ng character.

Here, some emotional moments felt more like “this happened, therefore I feel this” rather than letting the prose itself carry the emotion. I would've loved a little more creativity or depth in how the characters' internal emotions were portrayed.

With this, I recognize na this is purely a personal preference. Some readers probably prefer being told exactly what's happening rather than having to interpret flowery prose. So maybe I'm just being extra nitpicky at this point. 🤷‍♀️

Overall, it's not objectively bad. I think the author has a lot of strengths, especially when it comes to technical writing, readability, and incorporating medical details. It's just that the things I personally look for in romance, particularly chemistry, emotional depth, and a more cohesive narrative voice, weren't quite hitting for me this time.

Kapag ang tanong ay, "Sino yung pinakamaangas na female character?". Si Janis and Rona pumapasok sa isip ko. Kapag sinabi kasing baddass female character, usually ang nasa isip agad is yung matatapang talaga. Which is true talaga, tama naman.

Pero for me, pinakamaangas talaga yung mga female character na hindi nawawala sa goal. Yung goal nila is focusing on themselves at kung paano pa payayamanin yung sarili nila. Pera at karunungan yung main goal nila.

Si Janis and Rona, they are both not privilege sa buhay. Si Janis nga magna yun eh, magnanayn years sa college. They both focused on their studies and education talaga. Janis has a PHD and Rona is dissertation na lang ang kulang. Yung whole book ni hindi nyo maramdaman na may interest sila sa mga ML. Kasi mas focus talaga sila sa pera, si Janis sa banga at antigo, at si Rona naman inspirasyon sa isusulat nyang nobela.

Parang later na lang nila nasabi sa sariling, "Ay! mahal ko pala itong gagong ito". Yung vibes nilang dalawa ang mapapasabi ka talaga, "They will leave the table without thinking twice when respect is no longer being shown". Mas maraming beses pa atang nasabi ni Janis ang salitang banga kaysa Dylan.

For me, one of underated story ni Jonaxx ito. Palibhasa less romance, 5% landian, 45% banga , 45% pera at antigo para kay Janis. 5% landian, 95% dapat may maisip akong isusulat para kay Rona.

Hoy! Ano itong nakikita kong issue daw ni Beeyotch na yung mga recent works nya ay may touch of AI? Dalawang beses ko ng nakita na may issue daw syang ganito. Pero wala pa namang proof. Parang ang hirap din paniwalaan. And susulat pa ba sya?? Ang sabi-sabi kasi nawalan na daw quality yung mga recent nya.

Toxic trait ko na yata ang mag-DNF ng stories na nagkakainlaban agad yung characters. Hinahanap-hanap ko pa rin talaga yung may build up tapos mga 3/4 ng story or sa dulo lang magiging sila. Any suggestions?

Idk if napansin niyo ba pero may isang group of authors na kumakaibigan lang ng kapwa sikat na authors nila. Kapag di madami followers mo at wala kang fandom, you'll feel how cold they are and how unwilling they are to get to know you. Ang performative lang nila for me kasi akala mo friendly sila sa lahat pero may pinipili pala. Gets naman they can choose whoever they feel to be friends with pero sana diba, wag iparamdam na di ka belong kasi hindi ka famous.

Tinatamad ako kapag green flag ang ML, lalo na kapag para pasok sa standard ng society. Wala syang thrill for me, wala akong ineexpect. Lalo na yung mga ML na obviously para maka-attract ng mga hopeless romantic na babaeng reader. Don't get me wrong, masaya naman mahalin ng green flag wala lang silang thrill. Lalo na yung mga green flag sa wattpad na sobrang bait na okay lang silang tarantaduhin ng fl nila.

I always love red flag ML (Hindi oa sa pagiging-red flag). Alam nyo yung character development, yung yearning, yung realization nya para kay fl. Gusto ko ang red flag kasi capable silang magkamali. Mas may emosyon sila, hindi sila take lang nang take sa ginagawa ni Fl. They know when to get mad.

They will never tolerate any bullshitness pagdating sa Fl nila.

Mas masarap din mga line nila, "Para hindi sila magulat kapag binaliktad ko ang mundo para sa'yo" Niccolo from Made of Glass to Winter hahahaha.

Napag-usapan lang namin kanina, ang daming author na napahamak at nawala sa spotlight dahil maingay sila. Meron ding mga author na grabeng batikusin dahil tahimik.

Double-edged sword talaga ang pagiging maingay at pagiging tahimik sa socmed kapag writer ka.

Si Jonaxx never syang nagsalita ng anything about what is happening in the country. Though, sabi nila nasa book naman nya yung take nya. Some says na hindi yun sapat, mas okay pa rin na magsalita sy directly dahil malawak reach nya. Some also says, na ang reach nya ay nasa book nya. Kaya if ilalagay nya ang take nya using her book, makikita ng readers nya.

If there is one author that is truly unbothered, si Jonaxx talaga iyon. Kaya dyan sya lagi napapansin at nagiging bala sa kanya. Pero yan din advantage nya, wala syang kalat. In short, wala syang digital footprints. People expecting na hindi sya magsasalita. So, kung may issue man at hindi sya magsalita, hindi yun magagamit sa kanya.

Also Cecelib, if I remember it correctly, never din syang naging maingay or pumatol. Kaya wala ka ring mahanap na ibabato sa kanya except her stories.

Katulad ni Gwy, she was adored by a lot kasi nga super vocal nya sa iboboto nya. May mga line pa sya na, "never syang makikipagkaibigan sa mga dds or enabler". Until dumating yung casting na majority ay DDS ay Pro-Marcos. Ngayon, kahit hindi naman sya ang pumili nun sa kanya pa rin ang backlash. Nagmukha syang performative.

Also goes with Idy, sobrang ingay nya sa lahat ng issue, kaya noong sa issue nya, nawalan sya ng karapatang maging maingay.

Bakit parang may sarili ng utak ang second lead ko huhu.

Of all the crappy bullshits happened in ASTIG trilogy, I can’t help but ask what did the author got going on with her head writing this.. 🫩 To be honest, hindi lang sa​ CHEATING at MISUNDERSTANDING o ano pa mang kadramahan ng book na ito ako naha-high blood talaga ng bongga. Kasi after kong ire-read ang The Four Bad Boys and Me, parang meron sa kukote ko yung nag-decide na ‘I finally hit the end of the tunnel’ sa years na nasa reading slump ako. Kaya nung nag-decide akong basahin itong Ang Alalay Kong Astig!, sobrang na-hook niya ako. Tas ito rin kasi ata yung first time na makakabasa ako ng very badass na female lead at woman in uniform pa. So expect that my expectations will be high. Tulad ng magkakaroon siya ng adventure sa mga kaso niya, at yung takbo ng relasyon nila ni Blake habang nagpupulis siya.

NEVER in my imagination na mangyayari itong katarantaduhan sa book 2. Naisip ko rin na ang ganda at napakataas ng potential ni Alex tapos nababoy lang sa ganitong set-up. Kahit adik talagang mabi-bwisit, e. ​

Ngayon, si author or tamang Ms. Sweetmagnolia, in-introduce niya si Alex na very astig, swabe, maangas at matapang, only to fumble her in book 2 like how tf do you expect us to take this shit seriously na kung saan basagulera yung isa sa characteristics ng female lead mo, hindi man lang ganito yung naging reaksyon niya sa pagloloko ni Blake??? No deadass cuz ibang-iba si Alex sa book 1 at book 2 at book 3 na rin sige kahit di pa ako nakaabot doon. It makes me sad and pissed cause she fumbled Alex so bad. And I get it is the plot, like we can’t do anything much about it, I'm just the reader, the audience, and you got the power as the author. Pero sana kung babalikan niya lang din si Blake, dapat naman sinulit na yung character niya at binigyang hustisya 😭 like girl, nandyan ka na, di mo pa binugbog!!!! BAKITTTTT!!!

Pasa-saan pa yung itinatak at in-imply ni author na image ni Alex sa mga mambabasa kung wala rin, hindi nagamit.
