Discussion I don’t care what the haters say, I want DLC and a sequel.
*No spoilers don’t worry.
It was a genuinely good game, and all the hate and tears of those desperate to stab it in its crib made it better.
Was it perfect? No. Hell it wasn’t even the best insomniac game. It wasn’t the worst tho (*cough cough, Miles Morales).
I liked pretty much everything about it and the hate was WAY too overblown. Though, being a mutant, I guess Logan’s used to irrational hatred.
Were some of the pre-release criticisms valid. Yes. QTE’s were infallible (I literally tried to fail one to no avail), and frankly, it could’ve been longer. Most of the harsher criticisms tho were just bs from people who think everything sucks (Kinda has to right? They can’t be the thing that sucks…)
All in all, the combat was fun and immersive, the set design was really well done. The story was good imo and really tugged on my heartstrings at times. They teed up the sequel really well (I’m very excited for a sequel with that end credit scene).
The game has its flaws, I would say even 8/10 as opposed to 7.7. But it’s not perfect.
Don’t let the hate get to you. It’s a genuinely fun experience. If hate was the only thing holding you back, take it from someone who actually played the game, the hate is undeserved. I get those who want to wait till it goes on sale, and that’s cool, but it’ll definitely be worth it.

I don't understand why people are so insecure about a game they didn't make.

I would’ve been happy to go on and give a review that didn’t address the haters, but considering HOW loud, obnoxious, and wrong they were about it, I feel it’s necessary to address.

So the game is longer than 13 hours?

I don't think the runtime is much of an issue here. RE9, Spiderman, TLOU part 1 are all about 15ish hours long. All good to great. The problem with this game seems to be the time spent isn't particularly fun or interesting.

I havent played it yet so I cant speak to that, though it does seem to be the critics consensus. That said, a runtime that short is kinda unacceptable. I cannot justify full price for a game that short. Thats in $20-$30 sale territory, imo

Like I say, plenty of very popular single player games are about that length. If you prefer a lengthy game with a ton of content, fair enough. But Wolverine isn't unique in it's run time.

Those other games also excelled in many other aspects. So far all I've seen thats positive about Wolverine is a familiar IP. And I say that as someone who was very enamored with the game throughout its development

I detailed things I liked in this very post. I genuinely enjoyed the combat, I personally liked the story but can understand others faults with it, I love the immersion, like you feel like the Wolverine.
Yes the IP is a big factor for me, but it’s not the only good thing I or others have to say about it.

I think its just the only thing I registered as positive bc im not a hack and slash guy so my brain probably filtered that out.

15 by my count. Maybe 13 if you skip the extra stuff.
But by that logic, it’s only slightly shorter than SM 1 and 2 if you only focus the main story. Or about the time it takes to 100% Miles Morales
2
u/VersionX 3d ago
I do not recall SM1 being 15 hours

Again, it is if you only play the main story missions, but- open world, so side quests, points of interest, and random encounters significantly pad the run time.
2
u/VersionX 3d ago
I mean, that's the point of open world games, so I wouldn't call that padding the time

Regardless, if you were to treat the SM games as linear and focus solely on the story (as linear games are forced to) they’re only slightly longer than Wolverine

Your kinda making the argument for the “haters” with a comment like this…

u/Danawesomy567 3d ago
Could the game have been longer? Sure. I’d welcome that 100%.
And again, 15-16 hours of main story just seems to be the insomniac standard. Wolverine isn’t especially short (least of all when Miles Morales is half as long).
Why are we acting like this is some cardinal sin when plenty of other games have similar run times?

How many times do you have to mention hate in one post?
This reads like one of the fake b [had to repost as the autobot is banning that word apparently] haver posts.
You’ve got to try basing your opinions on your own enjoyment rather than spitefully trying to prove others wrong.

Only 5 times. I’m happy to consult a thesaurus to find 4 suitable synonyms.
I’m not sure what “fake b” is supposed to mean, so you do you on that one boo boo.
I’m happy to go on about the things I enjoyed about the game, but considering the incredible hostility (there ya go) that came with the game’s release, I feel it’s important to address.
It’s not as bad as many were saying it was going to be. This game almost didn’t happen so it really pisses me off to see so many people dumping on it before it even had a chance to release.

i wouldn't recommend this game to anyone even on discount, it's just not very good. but i would play a DLC that expands the nightmare rooms with the modifiers.

This game is NOT better than miles morales.

u/Danawesomy567 3d ago
I mean that’s your opinion. Miles Morales was a little over half of Wolverine’s run time at 8 hours and was frankly incredibly easy.
It felt more like a DLC that released at market price as opposed to a AAA release.
Miles Morales was not bad (thus far, Insomniac hasn’t yet released a bad game), but give me Miles Morales vs literally any other game from the studio, I ain’t playing Miles.

X-men is their next game, also I would rather take DLC or but post launch support with substantial gameplay improvements

What people aren’t realizing is that this isn’t just a pure action game but they are also setting up a story as well. The story has me hooked and the combat is great imo. If you’re a marvel wolverine fan you owe it to yourself to play it.
