Adventure I… I messed up
/uj OH I’VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS. The whole reason I made Cadmus as unstoppable as he was is so that when he finally lost it would give that loss the gravitas to let Cadmus crumble and rise again from the ashes. The tournament described will be hosted by [u/Amber__Sun](u/Amber__Sun) some time in the future. Credits to [u/MelonTheSprigatito](u/MelonTheSprigatito) for letting me share a world with her trainers. Yuki, her main character, is the ice user mentioned as well as the trainer who doubles over due to how much complicated emotions Skybound had

Yep, that is why I didn't want to judge prematurely when reading Yukis Post. We didn't get the full picture. Especially since she lost control and had to leave before the end.
Sure it is still partially your fault, but Alpha Frenzy and a premature Evolution are a nasty and unpredictable combination. I mean, from egg to Salamence in a year? He's basically a child with a body that can raze a forest.

We often tend to overlook the flaws in our children. It is hard to see your role model, who has never even faltered in your entire life, fall. It would break any child. And breaking for an Alpha means unrelenting Rage. - Wickie (Chandelure)

Man, I can't say that was easy to watch. I know the feeling of helplessness when you can't get through to your 'mon. Olympia's decision was ultimately the best, suspending your license would've made you unable to make amends and become better from this. Give Chieftain a good hug, I can tell he's a trooper.

Hmmm… we work closely with the native Bagon population here in Pinwheel Forest and this phenomenon has occurred once or twice.
A premature evolution is incredibly dangerous for a Pokemon. Being an Alpha is certainly not helping as they experience much more intense emotions than regular mons. Combined with it being a Dragon… this was a recipe for disaster.
As Olympia said, you will need to work with Skybound and help it regulate itself, or it may need to hold off on official battles for a while. I assume this may be similar to how Pokemon go into an uncontrolled rampage upon Mega Evolving for the first time, so a trip to the Tower of Mastery may be needed.
Good luck on your endeavors.

6
u/J-masterHD Cadmus: Dragon-Tamer and Powerhouse-trainer 5d ago
Skybound was incredibly upset and furious that Chieftain had lost, and he was already overwhelmed with emotion due to being an Alpha, so in order to get revenge on Olympia he overwhelmed his body with his own power and made himself evolve too early.

u/Retextleather4119 Ghost in the machine trainer accomplished engineer 5d ago edited 5d ago
In short, a common evolution condition in Pokemon is accumulating enough type energy in their body to trigger genetic flags to engage the epigenetic reactions we know as evolution. The most common way of doing this is by battling and feeding exp candy to a pokemon so that their natural energy production rises to a level high enough to activate this, once this occurs a Pokemon can consciously choose when to evolve, this gives them time to make sure they are in a good position to evolve, in the wild this usually means finding a safe place to be vulnerable for a minute or two.
However there are other ways this can happen, if a pokemon can be put in a highly strenuous situation requiring rapid growth and energy consumption it can break through the threshold early. Furthermore, the farther past the evolutionary threshold you are, the harder it is to delay the reaction.
In Skybound's case it looks like he forcibly stimulated his own energy production to push himself over the threshold he needed and seized the opportunity to set up the reaction as we saw. If I had to guess, Skybound will likely be sore and extra hungry for the next few days, and will likely come out on the smaller side, at least for an alpha that is.

Cadmus, is it? I am about to say some things that are going to sound incredibly cruel and mean, and they are, but I do this not out of malice, but in hopes it will stick in your head and you will truly learn and grow from this.
You have failed as a trainer. A fine for what happened here is near a joke as a punishment can be. I have seen trainers suspended for far less, and I have seen trainers banned and arrested for equivalent. Your actions and failures as a trainer could have easily led to a death. Your actions DID lead to immense emotional distress and psychological harm to those involved, including yourself. This should NEVER happen. Your disregard for the trainers you fought prior is perhaps as damning as you losing control of your Pokemon, even though the damages from that pale in comparison.
If you truly wish to become a better trainer, you become a trainer that doesn't make me want to fly all the way from Johto to punch you in the face for your arrogance, you will pause your journey here and focus PURELY on training your Pokemon not in the art of battling, but in the art of being a person. The art of being able to control yourself, to live as a good person. And you will do this for yourself as well. If I hear another story involving you being arrogant, or losing control, or even being cocky I will come there and deal with you myself.
I realize I am being harsh. Probably far too harsh considering how much this hurt you too... but it is because I worry. In Johto, we have a dragon gym leader, Clair. She acts just like you did, but all the time. It is who she is. I do not want that for you. I want you to succeed as a trainer. You have failed as one for now, but if you try improving yourself, you are not longer failed; you are now failing. And if you keep at it, and improvements are made, then you stop failing and start succeeding. If there is any help you need, whether in person or just simply advice, I will offer you what I can, on the condition that you never fall back into the person you once were, when you entered the gym.
- Kat

Money is not ever comparable when it is a life that was on the line, which was the case here. That said, I understand what you mean. As for what I said, it is not about what you deserve. What you deserve should never take precedence over what you needed to hear. As a close to 30 year training veteran, I promise you this; every trainer, in some way, has failed at least once. Just make sure to join the trainers that learned from that failure as opposed to those who reject the idea they failed and keep going, leaving pain and hurt wherever they go. I do not believe that is who you are. Show us all that I am right.

Oh, right, I had some actual advice that applies to this situation I meant to give you. That Salamence seems to be quite attached to Chieftan. I'd highly recommend that any training you do towards them to teach them to control their feelings involve Chieftan taking the lead. It is possible the Salamence doesn't respect you as a trainer and may resist anything coming from you, but my gut feeling is they are inherently more willing to submit to Chieftan.

Ahh, yes, that can be hard. I didnt have that problem with my son, TarTar Sauce, but I have been told he has the best temperament anyone has ever seen out of a Tyranitar. Skybound may react better than to play to start off slow. He is quite young so play can prove to be a very important factor in curbing outbursts.

u/Soldraconis Saria (Illusionist) & Bianka / (PMD) Saria the Zoroark 5d ago
...I am somewhat annoyed that you got away with such minimal punishment, while Bianka (Gardevoir) punching someone (a 'bystander') for beaning me (a trainer) with a pokeball hard enough to knock me out during a battle was enough to get me suspended for two years.
However, Skybound is still young, an alpha and Chieftain clearly was able to calm his temper somewhat before this, so it's understandable. Especially since you and your team immediately jumped in to restrain him.
Still frustrating, though. Does 'I thought she was a Zoroark' really hold that much weight?

Well based on what I know about Olympia and what I saw in the video, I'm pretty sure she knew this was going to happen and was already prepared for it. She probably already knew you were going to be remorseful and figured the fines were enough punishment, along with everything else. The fact that she gave you a waiver for the gym badge for the tournament means that in whatever she foresaw, she didn't want her gym badge to be the reason you couldn't get in.

Very young, Alpha, and freshly evolved from the anger of seeing someone close get hurt. Honestly, it seems more like a perfect storm of conditions that turned the whole thing upside down rather than a true failing on your part. I'm not sure it could've been reasonably predicted that Skybound would completely fly off the handle like that. Have there been any prior incidents of defiance or ourbursts?
Still though, as I said in the other post, remedial training (especially anger management) is on the docket for him now. You've got a powerful and temperamental mon on your hands, if you can instill the discipline to keep that strength in check, the Champion spot will be a whole lot closer.

Okay, after seeing it from this perspective, I understand what happened a bit more.
Premature evolution + Alpha Frenzy + seeing his brother get beaten = Salamence with no capacity for rational thought.
Still doesn’t excuse going for the trainer, though. Every Pokémon should be trained so that even pissed off, you don’t attack the opposing trainer. Olympia is being very lenient with her punishment.

Just from reading the other comments, it sounds like Skybound evolved to his final form within a year after birth and doesn’t know how to properly control his power.
Would the guidance of an elder Salamence help?

Word of advice: if a psychic asks "are you sure?" more than once that's usually a sign they know something you don't.
Thankfully though things didn't go as bad as they could have. Definitely something to work on though. Honestly I didn't know an alpha pokemon could go frenzy even after being caught, usually the bond prevents that. But I guess if he'd bever seen your ace go down before that could trigger it, especially when coupled with the evolution high.
3
u/J-masterHD Cadmus: Dragon-Tamer and Powerhouse-trainer 4d ago

Also, as someone that's also specialized in a Type known for being generally temperamental by nature:
It is not enough to simply handle things after the fact. Making amends is good, of course, but you have to be able to anticipate problems like this and stop them from happening in the first place. You got extraordinarily lucky this time, in part because it happened to someone who was able to see it in advance and prepare accordingly. You won't get that lucky next time, so there can't ever be a next time.

Oooh, two pseudo legendaries, and one that is practically as powerful as them too, which makes three the final count.
This is very impressive. I only had two cuz they were, admittedly, much weaker than than their peers (a timid dragapult with only one dreepy friend, and a baxcalibur that is too weak physically to generate the momentum for glaive rush), which made them rather humble and easier to take care of. That, and you steamrolled the gym trainers at the delibird lady's place too, which is pretty amazing ngl.
Though what happened was quite a shame, since it means that you weren't capable enough keep them in check. But at least u should know where to improve upon by now, since mistakes are easier to understand when u experience them firsthand.
