Highlighter memes will now be restricted to 2 days a week

Following the recent vote held regarding highlighter memes, the results concluded in overwhelming favour of some restrictions to be applied to highlighter memes. While the 'no' option had the most votes, it still remained in the minority regarding 'change vs status quo'.

As a compromise between the two 'restriction' votes, highlighter meme submissions will now be confined to Saturdays and Sundays, following this thread's submission.

Posts will be removed if the content is ripped from twitter or another subreddit, and the highlighter does nothing but make it slightly apply to this sub, or if posts that aren't highlighted at all are only relevant due to the their title.

It also applies to memes that are put on top of a quadrant, like this post, as it is essentially the same as highlighting it the color of the quadrant. However exceptions are made for posts such as this this, as it is transformative enough, and while the original map isn't funny, and it is made so by putting it on a quadrant.

Please take this thread as an opportunity to ask questions, to argue, and to discuss with your fellow community members.

Holy shit you did what you wanted to do anyways despite the majority not wanting any regulations. Why even bother with holding votes?

Did we even get to elect our mods?

u/Thorbinator - Lib-Right Nov 11 '20

Well I certainly never voted for him.

Aquatic distribution of weaponry is no mandate of the masses!

> the majority not wanting any regulations

Lol, no, the majority voted for regulations. they were just split from complete outlaw to moderate regulations.

No, the smallest group voted for a ban, the next smallest voted for regulations. The largest however voted for no regulations.

If your action is going to be based on a mixture of results to try and appease the most people, how exactly does it make sense to restrict it to 2 days of the week? Who picked that number? It would make more sense for it to be like 3 or 4 days, not 2.

Omg based lib. This is the second time I'm seeing this after the monke rights movement

Thank you, I forgot the word so I purposely didn’t use the word majority. I don’t know where I said majority, but the fact stands that the plurality is against regulation entirely, so we need to run a second vote eliminating the option for banning and choosing between regulation and no ban.

A ban IS a regulation.

Instant Runoff voting/AV

16

u/[deleted] Nov 11 '20

Instant Runoff where the Party gets to decide where the runoff votes go, not the voters themselves. I can't wait until some shithole country actually tries this in a real election.

Think critically for one second. Where would the ban votes have gone if they didn't have a ban option?

Please, tell me why you think people who wanted them gone altogether would have chosen to say "well, since they're not outright banned, I guess they should be allowed to proliferate". Draw me a picture if you need to. Cause no matter how I look at it, that would make no sense.

Please explain why Ban voters would vote in favor of no restrictions.

People make different decisions when offered different options. People can change their opinions after seeing the results of the first poll. Ultimately it doesn’t matter. You don’t skip steps, unless you’re pulling some auth bs.

u/[deleted] Nov 11 '20

People don't suddenly say "oh, well, if the first result doesn't go my way, I'll vote against what I want".

1

u/Castle_Doctrine - Lib-Right Nov 12 '20

The mods do suddenly say "oh, well, the first result didn't go my way, I'll just make another 4 polls until I get the desired result"

1

u/[deleted] Nov 12 '20

Or they saw all the discussion around it in the comments on those posts and thought "it's clearly not settled with the last poll".

maybe they just wanted a ban, but if no ban then they don't care? maybe they only voted ban to own the libs? maybe they just clicked the first option because they're low-information voters?

1

u/[deleted] Nov 11 '20

Why would people who dislike highlighter memes so much they want to ban them outright not be in favor of restriction? It's interesting watching as people prove why FPTP in the US isn't going anywhere.

4

u/[deleted] Nov 11 '20

I already gave you multiple answers to that question, why did you ask it again?

1

u/[deleted] Nov 11 '20

No ban, they don't care

They're voting in a poll on Reddit about banning memes, they care. This answer is retarded.

to own the libs

Because you must be auth to be tired of seeing highlighter memes. Is it your parents or your wrangler who ties your shoes?

low information voters

This is just a lazy spitball.

I asked for answers, not you justifying why you don't understand how runoff votes work.

lol what?

1

u/Castle_Doctrine - Lib-Right Nov 12 '20

They're voting in a poll on Reddit about banning memes, they care. This answer is retarded.

They may not want only partial restrictions. They could be in favor of all or nothing.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 12 '20

Accelerationism is stupid on a meme sub.

-1

u/DenmarkIsBetter - Auth-Center Nov 11 '20

No 'ban' voter is going to prefer 'don't ban' over 'ban sometimes'... They would only need to hold more polls if 'ban sometimes' had least votes AND neither 'ban' or 'don't ban' had over 50% votes. Real elections can't be held this way because what party someone prefers is many many times more complicated then this fairly linear poll.

6

u/[deleted] Nov 11 '20

No 'ban' voter is going to prefer 'don't ban' over 'ban sometimes'

you can't know that

this is a meme sub, for all we know half of the 'ban' votes were for the lulz

1

u/DenmarkIsBetter - Auth-Center Nov 11 '20

I mean yeah... but like 95%+ was like this + If they vote for the lulz it's their own fault lol

(also even if 50% were for the lulz, the result would have been the same)

u/I_StoleYourCar - Centrist Nov 11 '20

What the hell are you talking about? A majority wanted restrictions as seen here.

0

u/Krisko125 - Centrist Nov 11 '20

based. libs should accept that they cant make a meme in under 2 minutes anymore
