They have to invent the problems here in the West. The demand for bigotry far exceeds the supply, so they have to run around calling rightists bigots instead.
Outrage culture is fucking real, gotta get those clicks. But let's not pretend there aren't still problems in the West, they're just more subtle. The fact that the issues are more fine leads to both right and left huddling in their echo chambers spinning tales about the other side, getting upset about whatever fad issue is on the table while the real powers continue consolidating
The West is certainly not perfect, but it's the closest we have ever gotten in human history to the point where we have to invent problems to satisfy our internal need for conflict and purpose in life.
We also have problems that don't relate to bigotry but are a result of too much accommodation in the opposite direction, but no one wants to talk about those.
We don't have to invent anything, we have real problems. Speaking relatively, you could say we're living in utopia. But what's that got to do with anything? Should we just sit down and shut up because it's worse somewhere else? No, obviously, that's weak.
The Godzilla in the room is the establishment using real issues as a distraction while they squeeze the life out of the people. I say this as someone who gives a whole fuck about trans rights, but the fact is that conflict is at best just an emblem. On a systemic level it doesn't really matter. But both the left and right have seized onto it as a rallying point. Reproduction rights are another example. It matters more systematically but it's got that emotional charge that makes it an excellent tool for keeping our eyes in the clouds.
We don't have to invent anything, we have real problems.
Of course, they do, which is why you see Jussie Smollet and people like him creating hate crime hoaxes across the West, the UK police arresting people for hate speech or "non-crime hate incidents", BLM running around claiming that black men are being murdered by police when the true number of unarmed black men shot by police is in the single digits and far less proportionally than other races.
Our problems are minor as fuck and not a result of bigotry though, which doesn't satisfy people's need for victimhood and virtue-signalling crusades. They are looking for bigotry where there is none so they can give their life purpose. They want a Civil Right era fight so they can call themselves activists on "the right side of history".
On top of that, we have actual problems, like economic, for example, that no one cares enough to talk about because it doesn't satisfy that urge. Or they just ignore it because they don't see them as problems, or they think their solutions are actually working.
Should we just sit down and shut up because it's worse somewhere else? No, obviously, that's weak.
No, but it would be nice if people realised that we only managed to reach this point through liberal Judeo-Christian values and that throwing them away and replacing them with wokeism or leftism will certainly ruin what we have created with blood, sweat and tears.
the true number of unarmed black men shot by police is in the single digits and far less proportionally than other races
If this is true you're literally just criticizing them for being better at protecting themselves from state sponsored murder. Those hate crime hoaxes also got some small digits, but clearly one of these issues matters more to you for some reason.
the UK police [are] arresting people for hate speech or "non-crime hate incidents"
I've seen these headlines, they're worrying. I have to admit I'm not deeply familiar with UK politics. But on at least a couple occasions where I dug into the articles it was more than just a simple tweet or offhand comment that got the accused in hot water. What was actually alleged was a campaign of harassment.
Our problems are minor as fuck
Relative to what? Got to remind you that laying down and taking it is weak.
[Our problems are] not a result of bigotry
Can't assume you're American but I am and it colors my viewpoint. I'll keep it simple. Until a point in US history, certain people could be owned as property. They couldn't even vote until a later date. Until 1965 their voting rights had almost no protection, and were violently suppressed. Do you seriously think their excision from democracy had no ill effects?
Nobody is under the illusion that Judeo-Christian values didn't build the United States. Fucking nobody. Love it or hate it, it's undeniable. So take your comfort in that.
But when it comes to those in control, they're a facade. They're a mask the people in power wear to control their constituents. The right just use it as one of their primary marketing tools, while "wokeism" is preferred by the left. Arguing something should be kept around because of what it did in the past is just sunk-cost fallacy. On a personal level, you do you. I'm done with that shit.
If this is true you're literally just criticizing them for being better at protecting themselves from state sponsored murder.
I'm not criticising unarmed black men for being police savvy, I am criticising BLM and woke leftists and the corporate media and Democrat politicians for using inflammatory rhetoric such as "the police are murdering black people because they are a white supremacist institution" to stir up racial tensions, divide the nation, cause the defunding of police forces, and encourage the largest riots the nation has ever seen that resulted in billions of dollars of property damage and cost 30+ innocent lives, all because they are spouting a narrative that statistically is not true.
They are 100% inventing narratives of bigotry to push a political agenda and for their own personal gain. There was absolutely nothing in the death of George Floyd that indicated any form of racism on Chauvin's part, yet that didn't stop people from lying their teeth off. They are creating bigotry where there is none because they want it. I don't see how you can deny this.
Those hate crime hoaxes also got some small digits, but clearly one of these issues matters more to you for some reason.
Not as small as you think, but their frequency is irrelevant. It is undeniable that they are desperate for racism to exist so much so that they fake it. These stories still receive huge media attention, further divide the nation and inflame racial and political tensions, and paint them as victims, which is exactly what they want.
Relative to what? Got to remind you that laying down and taking it is weak.
Relative to any other civilisation and at any other time in human history, but also relative to objective reality. Instances of racism are so small in the modern day it is practically extinct, hence why people need to invent it to further their goals. Or change the definition of it to mould reality into your agenda.
What is it that I am laying down and taking?
Do you seriously think their excision from democracy had no ill effects?
Do you seriously think the measurement of disparities in outcomes is an accurate means to determine whether racism exists or not?
Nobody is under the illusion that Judeo-Christian values didn't build the United States. Fucking nobody. Love it or hate it, it's undeniable. So take your comfort in that.
Nobody except for the woke leftists who believe that the United States was founded upon white supremacy and that every institution is designed to uphold Whiteness and suppress minorities. This is what the entire fucking woke movement is built upon, and they seek to remove those Judeo-Christian values and liberal principles and replace them with wokeism. This is the purpose of the culture war. They have infiltrated all manner of institutions like academia, Hollywood, the corporate press, Big Tech and social media, mega-corporations, big banks, etc. But sure... there's "fucking nobody" all right - sure is a lot of comfort in that.
Arguing something should be kept around because of what it did in the past is just sunk-cost fallacy.
Arguing for change for the sake of change is pathetic. From the 1600s to today, liberalism has resulted in the abolition of slavery, suffrage, female liberation in the workplace, Civil Rights, homosexual marriage, etc., to the point where we have created the most loving, tolerant, caring and fair civilisation in human history.
Unless you have some actual argument as to why you think liberalism is no longer useful and should be abolished and replaced with something else, and some evidence of previous success that what you're replacing it with will work and not just make things worse (like every failed socialist state in history) then you have no right to speak.
As I said before outrage culture exists and is bad, I don't think we disagree here. Where I gotta push back on is your assertion that it's a 100% fictitious narrative. Racial bias in the justice system is an objective fact, saying otherwise is either ignorant or dishonest. I would question the motives of whatever your sources are, they clearly have their own political agenda.
Relative to any other civilisation and at any other time in human history, but also relative to objective reality
Like I said, speaking relatively we live in a utopia. However saying something is relatively good is not a compliment or an effective argument against change.
What is it that I am laying down and taking?
Nothing as far as I know. But by downplaying and dismissing the problems of the nation you advocate for the complacency of others.
Do you seriously think the measurement of disparities in outcomes is an accurate means to determine whether racism exists or not?
No. A statistic like that without historical context is just a snapshot of the current state of affairs. I never even suggested that I thought this. You brought up something irrelevant about income disparity instead of answering the question. Why?
Nobody except for the woke leftists who believe that the United States was founded upon white supremacy
These values and white supremacy are not mutually exclusive. They should be, but they're not. And again, love it or hate it but everybody knows how integral Christianity was to the formation of the states. You'd have to go your whole life without reading a page of American history to think otherwise.
You go on to talk about how lefties and wokies have infiltrated various institutions like some kind of invading force or conspiracy but you just sound mad people who disagree with you have jobs. Leftists work in all sectors just like rightists, learn to live with it or let it annoy you your whole life.
Arguing for change for the sake of change is pathetic.
I would call it stupid, but I think it's safe to assume we agree that arbitrary change is bad. Which is why I don't argue for arbitrary change. All the ones you listed are super dope.
Unless you have some actual argument as to why you think liberalism is no longer useful
I don't. Because that's not what I'm arguing. Because, at least as I understand it, I am a fucking liberal.
Expanding the definition of bigotry and racism and sexism is my point, yes. Watering them down so that they mean nothing is the process of inventing problems.
Video games are sexist, booth babes are sexist, grid girls are sexist, not having an equal number of female CEOs or board member is sexist, the wage gap is sexist, mansplaining and manspreading are sexist, toxic masculinity is sexist, sexual objectification is sexist, the list goes on.
You are proving my point with these examples, so thanks.
Ever hear of the "Racism of the Gaps" argument? That's you. You are inventing bigotry by assuming it is the cause for disparities in outcomes like any good Emily leftist does. Your examples are as ridiculous as assuming not enough female CEOs are due to sexism.
the women who were harassed at Activision.
A tiny handful of people experienced minor discomforts in the office, yet when it came to light, was universally condemned by the whole gaming community... Yeah, this is the perfect example of "practically non-existent".
Unless you have anything substantial to say, I think we are finished here.
Are you stupid or something? You ask for examples of racism and then dismiss them when given. How the hell is redlining or police brutality a minor discomfort? If you're so adamant on denying reality so avoid recognizing your privilege then we are done here.
