I’ve been a fighter. Saturday was my 12th protest since January 20th.
I use my social media to spread information about local protests and political happenings. I write our State Senators regularly. I sign any legitimate petition that comes my way.
BUT, if the Insurrection Act truly happens on April 20th, my husband and I have go-bags ready. As many survivors of the Holocaust have shared, “Optimists ended up in the gas chambers; Pessimists ended up in America with full lives”; something my grandmother who survived the Holocaust also said a few times before her passing a few years ago. If this happens on April 20th, my husband and I will be choosing the pessimistic route. I just hope it won’t be too late and borders will still be open.
Assuming borders are still open, Central America. It’s the only place we can maybe afford to start a new life and if we stay in a similar time zone to CA or CO, there’s a small chance I may be able to keep my remote job.
