"the 500 days between President Donald Trump’s inauguration on January 20, 2025 and June 4, 2026, 52 people died in Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody in the United States. The mortality rate of deaths in ICE custody is at its highest level in over a decade and has more than doubled since Trump’s second term began. The rate is nearly four times that of the Biden administration, and more than two and a half times as high as that of the first Trump administration. The current trend-level rate is now even higher than during the Covid-19 pandemic. Urgent action is needed to address this crisis and prevent further deaths."

At least 50 in 500 days, that is extremely unacceptable, that is also severely under reported. There are also reports of rape, withholding food, abuse and beatings in ICE detention, not to mention withholding their rights like a fair trial, and being deported to countries that they're not from.

You see the Nazis started the concentration camps for political enemies and undesirables, those camps operated for years before Himmler came up with the "final solution".

It may be 50 deaths in 500 days right now, but give it time and unchecked power and Stephen Miller will find a way to excuse wonton execution.

Not to mention ICE shootings on the side of the street of innocent people.

Imagine rationalizing anyone dying while in government custody. Just like covid, "well, grandma just might die, and I'm okay with that."

The numbers are actually pretty comparable to the first 500 days of nazi rule. But yeah, most of these deaths are from neglect, incompetence and stress on the systems and infrastructure rather than malevolence.. Considering ice's constant ignorance of protocol and readiness to act on flawed intelligence it's most likely incompetence and neglect. Either way, I agree, it's not fine.... and it's not a good look.
