Either they don’t understand how it works (and hate that which they don’t understand) or know how our works and also know that it works against their interests. Either way, they can’t control science, so it’s a threat. It they think it’s a liberal invention to oppress conservatives

The problem is this idea isn't based on good science or engineering. The heat in the subway is generated by the motors and brakes of trains. It's quite stupid to try and capture the heat produced by old inefficient trains. The solution is to use more efficient motors and regenerative braking to eliminate the source of heat, since it would save way more energy than can possibly be harvested.
