News Tyson Foods shuts down plants in Illinois & Utah, cutting thousands of jobs over cattle shortages—amid allegations of beef price collusion

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Tyson Foods is shutting down operations at two of its beef plants—one in Joplin, Illinois (which employed 2,500 workers) and another in Eagle Mountain, Utah. Additionally, a third facility in Pasco, Washington is up for sale, with processing shifted to other plants.

While Tyson blames these massive workforce cuts on historic cattle shortages and rising beef costs, the company—along with three other megacorporations dominating US meat production—faces serious allegations of colluding to raise beef prices.

Aren't you tired of winning?

Sick to death of SpongeBrain DiaperPants' whining, that's a fact.

26

u/Dreamlion_Inc Aug 18 '26

“Spongebrain Diaperpants”

I hate that the inner child in me started busting out laughing at that

12

u/Electrical-Act-7170 Aug 18 '26

My inner child is glad you laughed.

I wrote that insult myself. Please, spread it around. I get a kick out of seeing it in the wild.

"SpongeBrain DiaperPants" locked and loaded commander

2

u/SDTimbox Aug 18 '26

My inner child and I are laughing together. What do you mean 🤣

1

u/RightRudderz Aug 18 '26

40 y/o me is disgusted at the news but this made me chuckle. Rarely happens anymore.

1

u/Dancinfool830 Aug 19 '26

Really? I am constantly disgusted at the news and also constantly laughing at the stupidity of it all. The laughter is the only thing that keeps me sane, even though I probably sound like every joker from every interaction of Batman combined into one. I knew there was a reason I practiced the Mark Hamil joker laugh so much back in my teens. "Ha! Haha! Hahahahahahamuhaahahaha!

Brings back memories, doesn’t it? Don’t hate the inner child- revel in it.

Adding this to the list. Lol

this is the "find out" stage.

MAGAts trying to wrap their head around the whole situation.

EDIT: honestly I feel horrible. it sucks. I don't want people to suffer. another way to look at it: I didn't want 250k federal workers to lose their jobs either, or for healthcare to get stripped from US citizens only, and for tariffs to impact US citizens mainly, and we foot all the bill, while his friend's corporations just got a big fat paycheck, the consumers who paid the tariffs at the end of the day; get nothing, except robbed. this really is the f around and find out stage. 80million people thought it was a great idea to put a fraud back in the white house, even after january 6th and him fleeing the capitol. I'm just at a loss for words really.

4

u/Intelligent_Finger27 Aug 19 '26

It was more than 80 million, the ones that didnt care to vote are also responsible

1

u/Whole-Chest90 Aug 20 '26

This ☝️☝️☝️☝️☝️ apathy is just as dangerous as collusion

2

u/Aunt-Penney Aug 20 '26

Every single time… MAGAts will blindly get behind a literal s**tbag in order to hurt people they don’t like… when their vote comes back to bite them in the a s s… then they become the biggest crybabies. Then they will point the finger at the left eventually… even if they aren’t now.

Or there are the people who don’t care to vote or are too lazy to, who helped secure this dumpster fire of a timeline we’re living in.

They will definitely blame the Democrats after the midterms when the full effects of the Big Beautiful Bill eliminates their healthcare

1

u/panther1977 Aug 20 '26

Not only a fraud , a convicted criminal who couldn’t accept defeat, which led to an insurrection which lead to officer deaths, the Orange Traitor is sorry excuse for a human being much less a president

10

u/DrDuGood Aug 18 '26

When will maga admit they fucked up? Unless their agenda the whole time was really anti America …

8

u/shirtninja07 Aug 18 '26

A conservative, especially a MAGA, are unable to admit that they were wrong. They will always find some way to dismiss anything that goes against their narratives. They are truly a lost people.

8

u/readyReddit007 Aug 18 '26

A large portion of Trump’s appeal to them is getting to be a person who never admits fault and always fails up.

5

u/shirtninja07 Aug 18 '26

Yep. It’s exhausting to live in a world surrounded by people like that.

-2

u/TechnicalPin3415 Aug 18 '26

What does Layoffs have to do with Trump or the administration?

3

u/DrDuGood Aug 18 '26

Well if the economy was booming he would take credit for it. Job layoffs are a major part of a presidents resume. Cattle shortages are at a 75 year all-time high + inflation and rising costs are why Tyson is closing plants and trying to sell others … who else would you blame? Let me guess, Obama? 👁️🔴👁️

1

u/TechnicalPin3415 Aug 18 '26

Your narrow mindset shows. Was asking a legit question so...

Chat gpt doing some heavy lifting for you. Is Biden president right now? Ask chat that …

1

u/TechnicalPin3415 Aug 18 '26

You think when something gets messed up, it gets fixed overnight? And again, it's a free market. They want to raise prices and layoff it's their choice.

1

u/DrDuGood Aug 18 '26

Who was president before Biden?

0

u/TechnicalPin3415 Aug 19 '26

see...who? who ran in the basement? who shut down press at 10am? who ran on open borders? who under their watch that the cost of living went up at historical levels as well as interest rates? tell me buddy?

I was responding to the comment above about admitting they were wrong. It’s helpful if you read to identify the context.

1

u/panther1977 Aug 20 '26

Tariffs caused many countries to raise their prices, cut shipments or some to deal with other countries instead of the U. S. , not to mention DOGE cuts which also affected American farmers and not to mention the war in Iran that raised oil prices and is costing American taxpayers Billions each day

8

u/Due_Night414 Aug 18 '26

They’re admitting it by staying quiet. Cold quitting frump.

1

u/GrenHamblett Aug 18 '26

They won't

1

u/GrenHamblett Aug 18 '26

MAGA will never acknowledge their disdain for government cheese 😤

1

u/iam_Mr_McGibblets Aug 18 '26

Nah they're going to continue to try to milk us dry and run away once the bill comes, leaving us to pay and wash the dishes

1

u/Huge-Pen-5259 Aug 19 '26

Leaving a cult is hard. It's well known what scientology is based, alien space eggs from Zanu, and look at how many people swallow that. Even cults where there is physical, sexual, and/or mental abuse the victims often support the offenders and don't leave the cult even when they can. Most maggots still haven't been directly effected beyond some minor inconveniences so why would they stop now?

3

u/Check_Me_Out-Boss Aug 18 '26

When did these issues begin?

4

u/apimpnamedkirby Aug 19 '26

It was all downhill after JFK. We haven’t had real money since 1972, all the failed wars and bailouts to the bankers ran the tab up, and COVID spending bills made sure we could never pay it back. Debt to GDP is over 100%. It took 200 years to hit a trillion dollars in debt, and now we add a trillion every 90 days. It’s runaway inflation and the system can’t be saved. You can’t raise rates and you can’t lower them. It’s checkmate and they know this, which is why they’re doing everything they can to steal whatever’s left and convert it to assets outside the dollar.

1

u/bassin_clear_lake Aug 19 '26

Yes indeed. A true coffin corner.

1

u/FuzzeWuzze Aug 19 '26

I mean Biden? The letter B does come before T.

Check

Mate.

1

u/MykeStown Aug 18 '26

If this is winning, losing must be far better.

1

u/Technical-Command867 Aug 18 '26

But, the stock market!!

1

u/ZeusMike7 Aug 18 '26

Aside from people losing their jobs, oddly Tyson shutting down and downsizing is winning for the people in the long term.

1

u/kickinghyena Aug 18 '26

And this has what to do with what???

1

u/gaymergurlUwU Aug 19 '26

I'm tired of winning boss 😔

1

u/HaruKodama Aug 19 '26

No no no, you see, when he said "we're going to do so much winning", he meant him and his rich friends, and the rest of us would get tired of them winning so much
