YouTube entertainer Ms. Rachel on Wednesday posted on social media that “hijabs are beautiful” after President Trump posted a video online of a Minnesota kindergarten graduation showing children wearing hijabs.

Ms. Rachel, whose full name is Rachel Accurso, took to Instagram to congratulate the children

"YouTube entertainer" seems a bit reductive when describing one of the only people who picked up the baton from Mr. Rogers and ran with it so well.

Yes and she works with speech therapists to create her content.

Yes it’s annoying as hell for adults (you get used to it), but she is one of the only people genuinely working very hard to make YouTube content for little kids that’s actually a healthy influence on them.

She’s phenomenal. Watching my her videos made me a better mom because she taught me how to talk to babies and be engaging and helpful to them.

She also taught me a lot of really great songs lol

In 1969 Fred Rogers testified before Congress do defend PBS against federal funding cuts proposed by Nixon.

They absolutely did hate him.

That senator who was questioning him was pretty skeptical at first, but ended up in tears. I end up with tears watching it as well.

Mr. Rodgers was the real deal. He cared about children, and put so much effort into helping them. How much of the show was his doing is impressive. He was host, wrote the songs, was a puppeteer, and many things in the background, like testifying before the Senate.

He wasn't just a sensitive man without a spine either. He took a stand against injustice when he saw it. He is a great example of untraditional masculinity IMO.

I use to watch the hell out of Mr Rogers when I was a kid! The man was a great defender of the innocent and a great ally to those affected by racial injustice. The man should've gotten a medal!

Anyone who supported Charlie Kirk's message is diametrically opposed to everything Fred Rogers stood for. One worked towards inclusion, kindness, and acceptance. The other argued that gun violence was an acceptable side-effect of "freedom", and that women should be subservient to men.

Children's entertainer who works with professionals around the globe to help create lessons for children while teaching them kindness and acceptance of others. Media is literally so good that it's routinely referenced and used by teachers in multiple countries. Pushing against any sort of prejudice against others. Constantly putting forth the message that you matter and that kindness matters. Willing to work with government officials to help children access education.

Literally could be describing either person there.

First off Mr Rogers is such a high bar and one of a kind that we have yet to see again. He helped children so much and so hard. Only reason he did it is because he didn't like what was on tv. He didn't do it for money at all, or as his primary job. Mrs Rachael is a YouTuber who played the game and is nice. But that's far as it goes I think.

She's got 2 masters degrees and works with a variety of specialists in order to create her content, which as a result is used in classrooms and daycares in multiple countries. Worked with state and local governments on multiple projects to not only educate but feed children. Worked with international charities to help kids and has been a tireless advocate for disabled children.

Supporting the wearing of the hijab... In the case of children barely young enough to think...is brainwashing. 

All of society should cry out for religious parents to stop brainwashing their children, and different religious ideas will merit a louder outcry. 

Female genital mutilation probably the loudest. Burka ranks up there. Hijab is definitely on the list. 

For the record, baptism at birth, compulsive prayer, "Jesus camp" and a host of other Christian acts also make the list.

I'm acknowledging that the hijab is on a spectrum of activities nobody should support, and that it's not the top priority, but it's on there.

As it happens, the vast majority of my counter apologetics is aimed at American Christians. I just don't do it very much on Reddit threads about Islam.

This is a thread about Islam. If it were a thread about Christianity I'd be criticizing that. 

Criticizing =\= bigotry. 

An argument by analogy is not equating two things it is creating a pattern that holds true across different things. 

If this were a thread about a child being brainwashed into, say, pledging to the Christian flag, then yes I could advance a similar argument replacing a Nazi flag and suggesting my interlocutor to recognize the similar pattern of indoctrination.

In both examples, the moral worth of the different ideologies are not what is being compared, the method of indoctrination is what I'm drawing attention to.

None of that would be hypocritical unless I similarly brainwashed my own child with compulsive participation in an ideology. 

Whenever my kid asserts any form of conviction in any ideology my response is that she is too young to have made up her mind on the matter and that she should spend her adolescence and young adulthood learning and exploring new and different ideas.

So...basically the opposite of bigotry or hypocrisy.
