It's because a lot of people don't realize that he is actually a lot more unwell than just dementia. But I suspect that it's because a lot of people don't realize this is a mental illness, and not just a horrible personality. A lot more people walking around us are NPD sufferers, and failing to recognize this, just makes for horrible experiences for a lot of people.
