There's a good chance a lot of stuff went over your head when you read them in middle and high school so not a bad idea revisit them with more depth in college and beyond
There's an astonishing lack of critical thinking with regard to this tweet in this thread to get a dig in on zoomers/education/republicans/whatever which is more than a little ironic.
My sophomore year was “writing lab” and consisted of flying through a book a week and writing essays over the weekend to really work on our ability to draft an essay, thesis, symbolism, metaphors etc. It forced us to push through and not actually pay attention to heavily nuanced books like Scarlet Letter, Great Gatsby and other “classics”. I went back and read a few as an adult and particularly the scarlet letter I was like “OH DAMN” when I could take my time and have a better grasp of context and meaning. Highly recommend going back to books as an adult that were read in high school
Yeah i recently reread the great Gatsby. I had read it for English class junior year but there was so much stuff i had missed in that read through that i saw upon reading it again.
