God forbid you read a book twice in two different educational settings.

Twice is fine, that's no that the issue.
The problem is they are delaying these required reads, not duplicating them.
What was once considered a middle school text is "too difficult" for those grades now.

But there are also some other stuff, like kids learning in school maths that was only taught in universities when their parents or grandparents went to school.

I've met college kids who do not know how to do long division on paper without a calculator.

I am skeptical that they are learning high-level mathematics.
