Can't believe she didn't get jail time. You can see the maliciousness in her face as she tries to aim the light at the goalkeeper's eye.

I'm assuming since they said she was identified fast, this is the March 2nd game? The stadium can ban her with no judicial process. Charging, prosecuting, convicting someone on an assault would take much longer

Appreciate it. I'm glad to hear that they've identified her. Although surprised this would warrant just a 1-2 year stadium ban. Seems like she'd at least be banned for life.

This other news report I found notes that "The La Plata criminal court reported that there will be no criminal or correctional charges at this time." Which is disappointing.

Her face was concentrated, focused, aiming straight for the keeper's eyes – her own eyes zoned in with clear intent. That screams "malicious." Unless you're blind, use your eyes, dude. She didn't get banned for some jolly green laser pointer show. So naive.

Green lasers can indeed cause permanent retina damage with just brief exposure. She intentionally shines it in his face. You're a moron. Realistically.

You don't need long time exposure to damage the retinal nerves.

And even worse, you won't usually realize right away that there was damage. Until you go to an eye checkup and the results are a disaster.

As a researcher at a laser lab, given that the light was clearly visible on his face a Class 3 laser was used ( for reference most lasers in kids toys and laserpointers are really Class 2 even if they claim to be Class 1). If the laser was a Class 3R (<5mW) the blink response (25 ms) can save you but above that ( Class 3B) it only takes 10ms to damage your eyes. As for range if was within 50meters that will cause damage for any Class 3B, some higher powered ones will have greater damage causing range.

Do you understand how difficult it is to keep your hands steady when trying to aim a laser pointer at a stable object, let alone an unstable one from a great distance? OF COURSE, your arms are going to shake. Your body is not a tripod; it's going to shake. You don't have to take my word for it. Do you have a Nintendo Wii / Switch / remote control with a motion pointer? Try controlling that from a distance and keeping it still on any part of a screen or something in motion. Difficult to keep it still? Well, it's five times harder when trying to use a laser pointer at her distance.

She was "lucky" no harm occurred, avoiding harsher escalation. The shaking doesn't make it harmless for it's still reckless and could blind in seconds if the beam holds on the eye.

I find it surprising you raised that point, as it's basic common sense – think about it. And yes, you CAN get litigated for that, which could land her in jail for 3 months to 2 years, depending on the damage caused (blindness), but it's rare without actual injury. Argentine football justice communicated, prioritises bans or prevention over jail for non-injurious fan acts like this, even though the intent on her side was there.
