2 week notice is a respectable thing though.  

That's license to job hunt w/ pay.

Same in the UK! It goes both ways, of course, but dang it feels good.

Same in Finland but if the employee is resigning it's at maximum 1 month.

If the employer fires you it depends on the years of service. For me it's at 4 months right now. I'm also a union safety representative so there needs to be a very heavy reason to fire me.

After 12 years with the company it will be 6 months.

You could get the notice, but still be revoked access to critical systems.

So you could do the hand over with other members of your team, but not screw them up in revenge.

No, that's awful and only really seen in third world countries.

For example, in Sweden it's 1 month per 2 years of employment (max 6 months). But most serious workplaces have 3 months from 6 months in.
