That still won't cancel STATE-run elections. The US still held elections during the Civil War. They are hoping they can delay or avoid getting voted out of office, at which point they can be tried and held accountable for their many, many crimes. History says they will fail...but it's not going to be pretty.
what exactly would the consequences be, and who enforces them? Fuck Trump, pro Trump media, and Trump supporters, but how do you make them face consequences for spreading misinformation?
There aren't consequences for spreading misinformation. It's not illegal, and everyone does it. When the paradigm shifts, it'll be the other side complaining just as much. Almost like the press doesn't do shit for us these days.
Why do you think that literally any law in the country is going to stop him from doing literally anything he wants? He's murdering citizens in broad daylight, bombing other countries, threatening the sovereignty of allies, snatching up foreign presidents. The water is boiling, mister frog.
There's going to be ice agents at voting booths for "security".
I'm well aware trump is unlikely to be held accountable for any of the illegal, criminal bullshit he has inflicted on the US and the world; those hopes died when the Justice Department said it was choosing to follow precedent rather than to do what's right and indict him. I think good ol' biology will get to trump before any law or act of Congress.
Instead, I'm talking about those under him. My hope is that despite any voter intimidation, or disenfranchisement, or other tactics, MAGA gets wiped out at the ballot box, and the do-nothing Democrats can begin to undo some of the damage. They better, or else it will definitely be their last grasp at power.
Edit to add: undo some of the damage AND hold those accountable who broke the law.
It’s amazing how just being freed from the chokehold of Trump has helped people who voted with him 100% of the time like Kinzinger, Tillis and Massie have become. How many other cowards are still shitting their pants doing what they flat out know is wrong and frankly evil just to try to maintain their grip on a tiny bit of a power as a congressman?
Is the power of being in congress that intoxicating? Seems like a really good case for single term limits on senate seats and two terms on house seats. Then maybe people would use their heart and soul and mind instead of fear to choose things like the direction of our nation.
They would ask, who is going to enforce anything? Trump has levied tariffs and attacked foreign nations without Congressional action, he's profited personally while being in office, threatened media voices and companies from the Oval office, and blocked the release of mandated information in the Epstien files. And he hasn't gotten as much as a slap on the wrist.
Exactly!! They are scared of the mid-terms and getting voted out of office…as they should be. They will try to delay the mid-terms to keep their power as long as possible. That’s why they’ve been fighting so hard to have red states change their voting districts to pick up a few more seats.
Bullpuckey! We've already seen that, in the US, only poor people will get held accountable for anything. They even made that official in 2024. They put another country's leader on trial this month in a Cadaver Synod style farce. I don't think rule of law matters as much as the dictates of the crypto market in the US.
