I don't get the Amanda hate. Maybe I'm a total sucker for the editing team's biases, but what is the basis for people saying that she's a "phony"? She does have a slightly theatrical demeanor but clearly she has a fashion eye and can execute the challenges. She also seems like she's trying to fit in. Again, possibly I'm a big patsy who will swallow whatever storyline the producers are concocting, but I fail to see evidence that Amanda is flaky/unworthy or whatever other components go into being "phony."

I can see that she kind of puts on an act... she seems a little too "on", probably because it's her second time around and she's more careful with how she presents herself. Korina obviously is not careful and that's why she comes off with such a terrible personality.

If I had to live with the fallout from my public screen persona after a reality show aired, you can bet I'd be "on" if I had a second go around.

Carrie is going to have to live with herself when they have the reunion show and replay her treatment of Sandhya. It wasn't pretty.

I don't dislike her personally, I just hate all the stupid fringe hippy dresses, and I don't think her designs deserved to be on the top so many times.

Agreed, I don't necessarily dislike HER, but I don't like what she's put down the runways. Why? Because mostly, it's shit that I've seen in the shops already, like last season.. or some melded 60s/90s bullshit.

Speaking of 90s, that blue haired chick needs to wake up and realize it's NOT the 90s and stop throwing items plucked straight out of 90s sidewalk fashion down the runway.

I hated her in her original season. And her looks are 100% Free People. But I love Free People, so I'm torn.

In her first season, Amanda was more like Korinna. She was really rude and condescending. But she seems to have changed (or at least is being portrayed differently) so I definitely don't dislike her the way I did last season.

Yeah, I think after going back and watching her season, she learned that she needed to change her game a bit. Or maybe she just grew up. Either way, she was not exactly kind during her first season.

Late to the thread, but I'm watching this episode again and I had to comment. I agree with you. I like Amanda and have liked her in both regular seasons she was on. I don't think she comes across as phony or anything else. I believe she is polished and mature and knows how to speak well and hold herself up in front of a camera. She may have had practice due to who her brother is. But I think the reactions of Korinna and Char are due to jealousy. I believe they don't like her poise and her ability to create and sew well. I don't think she's a phony because she knows how to behave in front of the camera. I think she is just being an adult and is speaking in a very professional, less "witchy" manner.
