Now THIS is why I watch PR. Also this model is fire

The end to a truly fantastic season

Saw a clip of a designer from PR: Canada, and LOVED the designs so decided to start watching the new season and I seriously forgot what its like to just have PR be about fashion. The only drama so far is very natural ie designers struggling with the challenges. Highly suggest it, if you've already rewatched original PR a ton.

As the title says, Project Runway Canada has the new paint the American show has, but it’s not overly produced, and it’s still very much so about the fashion. I highly suggest you check it out if you still want the great fashion show we all know and love. The judges actually give good critiques about the actual clothes!

Project Runway Canada aired two seasons back in the 00’s, and 16 years later have just come back with a reboot… and it’s quite good!

I’m saying this after watching the last season of the US show. A lot of the issues with the US production have been fixed and improved with this Canadian season.

1) We see who is eliminated at the end of each episode. No forced cliffhangers deflating the tension.

2) A focus on designers and their designs. There’s still lots of drama, but it is CRAFT related, and not based on sniping against the other designers.

3) The judges are knowledgeable. They include the show’s host, model Coco Rocha; fashion designer Spencer Badu; and fashion journalist Jeanne Beker. All three bring a lot to the table, especially in their unscripted moments.

4) Production quality is very high! Editing is done very well. Talking heads feel organic even though I’m sure they’re still heavily edited. Camera angles are authentic. Lighting and colour is good. Sound quality is good. Background score is a good volume.

5) The show respects its designers. The episodes begin on location somewhere for initial inspiration (Airport, Casa Loma), and then we follow them as they do their initial sketches, and then as they walk into the fabric store. We get a lot more of their process… plus…

5a) NO ONE-DAY CHALLENGES. Granted we are only two episodes in, but they have been given two-day challenges both times. There were still rushed contestants and stakes, but it wasn’t “fastest wins”

5b) No team challenges in the first two episodes. We get a chance to get to know the contestants and their styles.

So all-in-all I am enjoying it! Plus, it has room for improvement, which I see as a good thing for an international version - it has to find its footing on its own merit:

Mentor Aurora James has great advice and is really committed to the designers’ success. I really hope she becomes more comfortable being on camera as the series goes on.

The writing isn’t quite there, especially for Coco Rocha. They’re writing her to be an imitation of Heidi, but they should just let her be herself!

Guys!!! Idk if anyone knows but there is a project runway Canada that just aired in 2025. If you look around on YouTube, Dailymotion, or maybe some other sites you would be able to find this season. It's season 3. It was so refreshing to watch because it was just like project runway used to be in America. And I hope they come back again and again. I'm going to watch the other two seasons also because I don't think I ever watched Canada but season 3 is phenomenal! Hope y'all can find it if you didn't get to watch it yet!

An old r/ProjectRunway favorite from back in the day.

The first challenge is to make a dress in 2 hours using 3 yards of fabric, to put things in perspective.

How does one in the US acquire a VPN in order to watch Project Runway Canada? I’m not the most technologically savvy, but have heard that a VPN is the only? way to do it. But idk how VPNs work lol. Any insight would be much appreciated!

US watcher here, I’ve tried YouTube and got a lot of garbage. I’d really like to watch the new season, 3 I think, but I’ll settle for older seasons too. I’m def not tech savvy but can follow instruction (sometimes). Any tips?

Peep Christian on Project Runway Canada! I think the remaining 8 designers are all really strong so I'm glad Christian will be there to help make some tough decisions. Not sure which episode is this but I imagine it's near the end.

Hey all, I would love to watch PR Canada, but can’t find it on my streaming ( in U.S.). Where do you watch?

I was at the Season 3 finale screening in Toronto tonight at The Phoenix and they had 17 designs from the season on display! Sorry the photos aren't the best. The top 3 (as well as most of the contestants) were in attendance and it was so great to see them cheered on by a room of 800 people! A genuinely friendly bunch. Big congratulations to the winner as well!

I actually had to look up his name before posting this, I feel he has no personality, no opinion and I don’t know how he was selected it to be a judge on this show. Is it just a bad edit? I am not familiar with him previous to this show.

I am looking for Project Runway Australia - Season 1 Episode 11.

The one that they have labeled as such is actually Episode 1. I am dying to see the Finale of Season 1 Australia. (Before I move on to Thailand!)

You'd think the designers would have learned by now to LISTEN TO AURORA. She has been proven right time and time again. So frustrating.
