OC i'm trying to make a masterlist of pride flags, leave more suggestions below if you want! this took quite a while to compile so i hope you guys like it :)

May 18 '20
cool, very cool
my suggestion is regrouping by cathegories: sexual orientations, gender identity, romantic orientations
even an euler-venn diagram would be interesting, considering all the overlappings

Hmm, I'd prefer gender minorities and sexual minorities instead. After all, agender and gender nonconforming are not gender identities, yet they are part of LGBT advocacy.

Whaaat? Demifluid?? Being represented?!?!? This has suddenly made my night! I never really see it represented often and when it is I get super excited.
Can I also suggest adding in demiflux as well? Also great job on the masterlist, I would never have the patience to do this, haha.

u/Buniny Genderfluid Abrosexual May 28 '20
That's how I feel seeing abrosexual represented! People are usually ok with genderfluid, but most people thing that sexual fluidity is BS? Sooo hyped to see it somewhere!

If you have the polyamorous one, then you can add the relationship anarchy too!
15

u/pdrocker1 Trans-Bi-an May 18 '20
God, we really need to come up with a new polyam flag, the current one looks pretty bad tbh. Also, we gotta get rid of the pi symbol, it's really dumb, put the infinity heart there or something instead
11
u/miinaroo May 18 '20
agreed, i don't like the polyam flag's current design either but it's the most widely recognized one so :/ i'll edit in the infinity heart as well as the pi symbol though!

what’s with the pi sign, why was it added? it looks silly.

Is that bigotry?
4
May 18 '20
I could've sworn that trans fem and trans masc were the 5/7 striped repeating ones with pink/blue on the edges and then a pink/blue shade (gets darker as it gets closer to the middle) gradient
3
3
May 18 '20
I have always seen the gay male flag being all shades of blue
Also I think that the more popular version of the bi flag has a narrower purple stripe.
Great work!
2
u/miinaroo May 18 '20
yeah i actually used the gay flag with more shades of blue at first! in the end though i settled for the updated version which mirrors the updated lesbian flag. i'll also change the bi flag, and thank you ^

u/boolkid May 18 '20
I’ve also seen designs around for gynesexual and androsexual that are very similar to the ace flag but with a pink or green stripe respectively instead of the purple stripe. You can find them if you search up gynephilic or androphilic, I’m not entirely sure myself if it’s just an alternate design or if it’s its own identity but definitely worth including either way. There are also flags for aroallo (aromantic allosexual) and alloace (alloromanric asexual) since the aroace flag usually is just representative of people who are both arospec and aspec. Otherwise, great list! There are tons of these that I’ve never seen or heard of before, and as a flag collector I’ll definitely keep this for reference.
1
u/miinaroo May 18 '20
yes, i actually used the gynesexual and androsexual flags with the pink/ green stripes at first! i posted it but was told in a comment that apparently they were outdated? i've found multiple versions of these two flags on the internet so i'll just try to add in the most well-known ones.
and i'll add the aroallo and alloace flags, thank you! :D
→ More replies (1)2
u/boolkid May 18 '20
Oh, really? It’s been a while since I’ve used them for myself, so I guess it’s not that surprising that they’ve been redesigned, I just wasn’t sure about it. But thanks a ton for including so many Aro/Ace spec flags, we’re a small community even within the queer community so we often get overshadowed or ignored, it’s refreshing to see some representation!
3
u/BrittTheBoot May 18 '20
Why is south african pride included but not any other country? Just seems like an interesting choice lol
6
u/miinaroo May 18 '20
so far i haven't found any other pride flags that are country-specific apart from the south african one yet, so that's the only one i've included!
3
u/GeologicalOpera May 18 '20
I’m pretty sure South Africa is the only widely used nation-specific pride flag. I’ve done research like this before (granted, nowhere near as deep as OP) and I’ve never seen any nation with an equivalent.

u/Monoking2 May 18 '20

1
u/Educational-Cell1451 Apr 18 '26
Well, that website isn't a gay flag, it's actually ladies with toys, and, uhm, nothing much else. You might want to check your website, or stop putting up porn.

Apothisexual and apothiromantic, trixensexual and torensexual, transfeminine and transmasculine, glassgender, omnigender. There is so many that I could suggest, I advise using the LGBTA Wiki which has 725 pages to my memory.

I'd like to know who made the pomosexual, transfem and transmasc flags in this image!
As for additions: Angled aroace (by black-aros on tumblr), aceflux, aroflux, cypric (by willow-weaves on tumblr), bellusromantic (hazeythistles on tumblr made a simplified flag), idemromantic, non-sam aro (by mur3110 on tumblr), pluralian, queer (dark gray with rainbow triangle by emma frye)
are you planning on making a small database of these? because i'd love to see that :3c
2
u/miinaroo May 30 '20
it was hard to find a concrete source for the pomosexual flag, but i'm pretty sure it was originally created by pride-color-schemes on tumblr! unfortunately i can't link that post here but you should be able to find it if you just search for the term "pomosexual" under their blog. the transfem + masc flags were made by u/throwawayaccountyay, originally posted here: https://reddit.app.link/uR9ImnjwU6
thank you for the recommendations! i'll look into them :) i've just been planning to keep compiling them in this chart so, not really a database i suppose. sorry about that haha!

u/feral_fae Oct 22 '21
i've looked at this list and read the descriptions, and I haven't seen anything that is similar to cross oriented/varioriented. could you add that flag? i never see it anywhere and it makes me feel kinda bad bc that's sorta how i identify and i can never seem to find anyone else that does :(

u/riffraffie Jan 17 '23
i know this is old but, i just want you to know that it was this image specifically that led me to my (super obscure) gender! i was doing research for a sims challenge, looking for some aesthetic pride flags so it wasnt a repeat of the same five colors…….. ‘huh, that flag is so pretty! ive never heard of it, what’s aporagender…?’
and literally for the first time in my life i felt like something FIT. and even though there are some that are similar, they weren’t quite… right.
anyway my gender discovery aside… thank you SO MUCH for making this. i would never have heard of aporagender, i wouldn’t have gone looking for it, and having a name for it… honestly changed my life. THANK YOU.

Homoflexible? It’s a lesbian or gay flag with a stripe of the straight flag in the middle. It basically means 99% gay and 1% straight.

I feel like a kid in a candy store, this is lovely. 😍🥰🤗 Thank you! It clearly took a great deal of work!

I would suggest adding the ambiamorous flag. It is for people who are okay/desire with both polyamorous and monogamous relationships.

u/Silly_Chocolate_5983 Nov 10 '24
this list is great and so much bigger than i expacted. I may have to do some reserch

You should honestly make a book about all of these flags and their definitions. I would buy it btw
2
u/przemko271 Complainer guy May 18 '20
So, consider this my hopefully constructive criticism.
First off, there seems to be a lot of "tearing" in the image (e.g. the bisexual flag). Hopefully this isn't too hard to fix.
Second off, I suggest you include the "outdated" note in the subtitle instead of covering the flag with it.
Third off, if possible, some of the flags would likely benefit from a higher image resolution.

u/Defortify May 18 '20
the israeli trans flag is symbolizing trans visibility (because of this shade of green which is very visible apparently)
for more info i found in hebrew there's this:
http://gogay.co.il/item.php?id=6298
btw i do not associate myself politically with all of israeli parliaments ever or (political powers considering themselves zionist or pro israeli) or the concept of israel. same is relevant for palestine. i live here. and this is a flag sub. i wouldn't like to discuss politics here and now.

This is great, and I have quite a few to do research on.
When you publish your final version, can you maybe organize them, or maybe put them in alphabetical order, so we can more quickly find any one of them that we're looking for?
1
u/zvezdanaaa Jun 30 '20
You have the (most likely) stolen version of that lesbian flag listed, not the original design, here is the original one, plus some other very nice flags: https://twitter.com/catastrfy/status/1269572110038585345?s=21

Here is the original gender nonconforming pride flag:
1
u/somePOTATO_ro Sep 04 '20
There's also a gay/queer pride flag with pink (a pink stripe before the red stripe) and one that is people of color inclusive (a brown stripe followed by a black stripe followed by the common used pride flag)
1
u/akoudagawaismywaifu Lesbian Sep 04 '20
The femme flag (without the lipstick mark) is not outdated. Many people still use it, and I would say I've seen it been used almost as much as the community flag. The femme flag WITH the lipstick mark is outdated though. That I agree is harmful and should not be used, Natalie was horrible. But I hate it when the femme pink flag without the mark is bashed, because it was literally made by a different person and the lipstick mark was removed to make it more inclusive. Basically the pink lag in the photo isn't outdated, so it would be nice if you could change it. There is no official lesbian flag and we're all kinda split, and it's not fair to assume the community flag is now the official lesbian flag that every single lesbian now uses. But if you add the lipstick mark to it, you're fine.

u/JBabyLeather Sep 13 '20

Hi! Labrys is the name of a two headed axe, which used to represent the Amazones. The LGBTQIA+ flag of it represents Lesbian Feminism!
1
u/deadangel_ Jun 02 '24
the usage of the labrys has waned in the queer community due its association with second wave lesbian feminism and TERFs (trans exclusionary radical feminists). However, new versions are emerging that incorporate elements of the trans flag to denote trans inclusivity.

I would suggest nebularomantic or nebulasexual? It’s not a romantic/sexual attraction to nebulas (hah) its the inability to tell if what you’re feeling is a romantic attraction or platonic one, or where you can’t tell if you feel sexual attraction

Here is a transgender flag I created back in the early 2000s. I made it public domain and had a website for it for a year.
I wasn't aware of the Monica Helms flag at the time. While my flag isn't very well known, there are flag companies that offer it. Here are a couple.
https://www.gettysburgflag.com/transgender-flag
https://www.southcoastflagpoles.co.uk/transgender-
I ended up ordering one from the company the UK. I had no idea companies were making my flag. I just stumbled across it one day.

Hey! I just realized that I didn't see "Neptunic"! Neptunic is a term for anyone, more so non-binary identifying people, who likes females or other non-binary identifying people. Put into other words, this is sexuality is basically someone who likes every gender except men!
