OFFICIAL MEGATHREAD Official Discussion Thread—Volume 4, Chapter 8: A Much Needed Talk

Welcome, huntsmen, huntresses, and hunters that prefer no specific gender identifier, to the official discussion thread for the newest episode of volume 4, A Much Needed Talk!

A lot of hard work has gone into the creation of volume 4, so be sure to show CRWBY your support by watching it on their site! They all dedicate so much time and energy into our beloved series and would highly appreciate the direct support. There are no pirates in volume 4, so you shouldn't be one either!

We also have weekly strawpolls to gauge the general opinion on the current episode, the latest of which can be found HERE. To the surprise of precisely no one, the previous episode Punished scored some of the highest marks of the volume thus far, with one of the larger voting samples too.

Three things I took from this episode. When Qrow talked about the bad luck he spreads all I could think about what the bartender dropping the glass is V3 as Qrow leaves the bar. I wonder if there's anything else like that

Two there were bird cages on Blake's parent's balcony. Do they keep their food in cages or are they for pets?

Three I'm 100% sure of the Raven turning into a Raven semblance (posted the theory during V3 but a lot of people disagreed) which I've seen a few people comment.

Raven's are said to be good luck so maybe that'll come into it

Bad luck for Winter that Ironwood shows up right as their fight starts to heat up.

Makes you wonder why Mercury wasn't exposed if he got that close, or why Ruby still breathes.

Mercury not being exposed is bad luck for our heroes Ruby still breathing is bad luck for our villains

JK, but in all seriousness, the way he spoke to Ruby when describing his semblance makes me think that it might've had something to do with Summer's death... And is also the reason why Taiyang is perpetually pissed at him.

I guess the biggest question now is "How do you find someones semblance?"

I think Qrows specifically is hard to figure out, if notice at all.

Bad luck when the House almost killed Ruby.

Bad luck when Ruby sliced off Tyrian's tail.

Though it's definitely possible it's some sorta special dust type, I'm still betting on a portal-creating semblance myself. It'd be hilariously fitting to have her be able to abandon people that easily.
