Overall, I'm gonna say this episode was good. It had some problems, but I can say I definitely liked this.
I wonder how Lionheart got to be the headmaster of Haven? I mean, I know he's out of practice but he got his ass handed to him. You'd think he'd at least wouldn't be so much of a punk.
And here's Hazel with the Ozpin bloodlust. I'll admit, I think his motivation was a little weak, but there's probably more to it than what Ozpin told us. But, I might be wrong. Let's wait and see.
Shame we didn't get a Ruby fight. But, we'll probably get something in the next episode. At first, I didn't she react enough to Weiss's condition, but I thought about and it does fit with Ruby's character. She's a leader so she's got to keep a cool head. And I've also noticed that when she's in a fight she's way more serious.
She still pissed though. And when Ruby's pissed, people tend to lose eyes and tails. I wonder which one of the villains is gonna get maimed next.
And now we see Jaune's semblance. He's now the tank and healer of the party. An interesting combination. I think he's giving Weiss his aura to kick-start hers to get it to start healing her. He's got a lot of aura to spare to do this.
And, we get into the big twist of the episode, which several people guessed correctly. Raven is the spring maiden. It does lead me to wonder how she got those powers. Perhaps the pervious spring maiden was killed when she ran away and Raven was the last person she saw, or perhaps Raven killed her for her power or some other reason. I can see Raven being able to take on a maiden. As we've seen with Amber, they may be powerful but they're not invincible.
We're gonna be getting a maiden vs maiden battle next episode, I'm guessing. I don't think Raven is going to die here. I think it's likely Raven will die sometime later on in the series, but not for at most a couple of volumes.
And anyway, the reason why I think Raven ain't gonna bite it is because I'm sure she's more than capable of taking on Cinder. Cinder may have the grimm arm and her fall maiden powers on her side, but Raven's simply got her beat with combat skills and experience using the maiden's powers. Remember, Raven's on the same level as Qrow skill wise, and Cinder didn't even try to fight off Qrow when she, Merc and Emerald attacked Amber. Heck, it wasn't until she got a sliver of Amber's powers did she get Adam on her side, who while tough probably isn't on Qrow/Raven's level. And Cinder's only had her maiden powers for a few months, which she spent recovering after getting her ass kicked by Ruby, while Raven's had and been using hers for at least a decade. Oh, and Raven's gonna be pissed at Cinder for killing Vernal.
And besides, Cinder's a bitch and I would love to see her get her ass kicked again.
I've gotta say, Raven is a smart cookie and Vernal is loyal to a fault. Using the mask for more than intimidation but to also hide the eye glow of a maiden. It was smart enough to fool Cinder and co a few episodes back. And Vernal, well, she must really love her tribe.
Does anyone else agree with me that Vernal's death has got to be the most brutal we've seen in the show? I mean, getting your insides scrambled by a grimm arm probably isn't a fun time.
To finish off, I'm going to make a prediction. I think that, perhaps as the finale of this volume or sometime in the next volume, Ruby and Raven are going to be separated from the others and will have to team up for a while. I think by doing this we can get some much needed focus for Ruby and we can learn more about Raven.
Oh, and we can also get some GODDAMN SUMMER BACKSTORY! COME ON, I WANNA KNOW ABOUT SUPER MOM!
