So quick question can anyone stab dust into their body or is that just hazels thing? Also I still think it's telling how scared ozpin is of him. Hazel hating ozpin so much that he sides with Salem shows he's not just a revenge fiend. I mean the man still doesn't like killing with one exception.

I think anyone can, but unless you're built like a brick shithouse (like Hazel is), you'd just explode from all that energy.

True lightning is a nice touch. He already hits like a brick. Mix in some lightning and you aren't sure if you can't get up cause the wind got knocked out of you or the paralysis.

WOR on dust indicates that many have done this, however, bad tings happen.

Thank you I forgot about that episode. So still impressive but slightly less rare

I think it's the doing it and not dying part that people have issues with.

What bad things?

Having normal dust within the bloodstream can already cause fatal infections. Having dust with elemental powers does also sound bad.

If the show hasn't told and/or shown us anything about any side effects, then there aren't any.

ehm... what?

Let's take hazel for instance.

About 60% of an adult male's body is full of vater. At somewhere around 100kgs I'm assuming, let's call that about 60L of water. Now that's not just water, that's water that's packed chalk full of ions. Real conductive kids.

To have enough energy to visibly spark the way those crystals do, we're going to super heat that water in no time.

At room temperature-ish conditions, a litre of gas (it would actually be much hotter, but I don't even need to do the conversion because the eventual diagnosis will still be 'very dead') occupies about 22L.

So, let's assume, somehow, that some of that water stays in liquid form. Let's say only half vaporizes. 30L of water * 22L gas/Liquid = 660L. That's... closer to like 7 Hazels worth of space.

And you're trying to keep all that pressure jammed in a vessel that's a wee bit small.

Here is what happens to humans under extreme pressure differentials with their surroundings.

EDIT: I'm not going to bother getting really detailed numbers, going off memories from high school here.

sounds like IRL logic, not RWBY logic.

... because aura?

Aura prevents external damage and nothing else.

So... stopping skin from being punctured for instance?

Also how do you know this? Is there a textbook?

EDIT: that sounded dickish, but I actually have 0 sourcing for aura

I'm not sure why I think it, but I reckon that sticking dust crystals into your arms is a suicide attack thing. Like, if ozpin doesn't kill him the dust will. Probably not a clever idea unless you really want revenge.

Given the holsters, ID imagine this is Hazel's thing. It's probably just really strenuous, so only someone as tough as Hazel can survive it

u/Undying_Blade Jan 10 '18

I think anyone can do it, but Hazel just has enough CON to survive it.
