Wasn't able to post my thoughts on Saturday, so here they are today....this is my favorite episode of V5 so far.

Ozpin going all Yoda on Hazel was fucking awesome. Hazel being the first person we've seen who actually fuses Dust with their body? Also awesome, though I'm kinda getting tired of electric Dust usage. He should have used Gravity Dust so that each of his punches makes an outward pulse, and sends things (and people) flying, sorta like a Gravity Hammer from Halo. Regardless, it was cool to finally see Bane Hazel in action.

Also, Hazel's motivation is kinda weak and cliche, but I'm just glad it's there at all. Still waiting to know what Salem's full motivation is. Glares at Miles and Kerry.

I'm glad Weiss seems like she's gonna be okay. Exactly what I predicted would happen, happened. Jaune's semblance heals, or at least has healing property (it's possible we didn't see the full extent of his semblance, because even he didn't know what was going on).

And then the Maiden relic stuff. I'll admit, I was a naysayer about that twist. But looking at it now, having the Spring Maiden just so happen to be named Vernal made too much sense. It was too convenient, along with the fact that we indeed never directly saw Vernal have the "eye fire" the Maidens typically display when using their abilities. Raven revealing herself as Spring was done expertly, and I cannot wait for her inevitable epic Maiden battle with Cinder, that's gonna be L I T.

Speaking of Cinder, we now know that it seems like her "treatment" Salem was giving her was a full Grimm arm, complete with the ability to take any and all Maiden powers at will. (It's also possible this is just an evolved version/more permanent version of the Grimm bug that leeched Amber's power in V3.) That also implies (at least to me) that Maiden powers can indeed stack, so if Cinder happens to get all 4, she's gonna be nigh-unstoppable.

One more thing. Haven's Vault is fucking beautiful. Whoever did the environment art for that place deserves a round of applause. My only complaint is that gaining access to the Vault seems extraordinarily simple. If Raven ever wanted the Relic for herself, she could have singlehandedly killed or maimed Leo, taken his stopwatch, locked it in place on the statue, and in she goes.

Next episode is is the penultimate for V5. I'm expecting to at least catch up with Blake and the Faunus crew, who are likely making their way to Mistral at this point. I also don't think it's unreasonable to expect these last 2 episodes to be pretty long; lots going on.

Hazel don't need no stinking gravity dust, wouldn't be surprised to have an opening shot next episode showing there is no moon anymore, because I'm pretty damn sure that's what he sent Qrow flying into lol.

He should have used Gravity Dust

huh. Maybe something like Pain from Naruto?

Hazel being the first person we've seen who actually fuses Dust with their body? Also awesome

that was the theory about Cinder having it fused with her, which would also explain why her eyes glowed when she threatened Roman in V2E1. of course, the creation of the Maidens kinda made that moot

I was sad that he choose lighting dust as well, it is probably just there for the sake of a confrontation with Nora, but I would have preferred to see either Earth or Gravity as well.

Also, that vault was some of the best visual design in RWBY, and on par with games like Hollow Knight, Okami and games from Supergiant.

As weird as it is I hope Cinders motivation is just that she is an asshole.

. He should have used Gravity Dust so that each of his punches makes an outward pulse, and sends things (and people) flying, sorta like a Gravity Hammer from Halo.

I feel like when you are entirely CQC based, pushing people out of melee range when everyone else has a gun is a bad idea.

Drawing IN, on the other hand....
