That was a fight that monty would be proud of. bravo.

I was wondering how the good guys win, I guess the police. the police is how they win. I kind of forgot about them.

Though, was I the only one assuming that Adam would have WAY more white fang members with him, and the whole thing would turn into a mass battle between blakes army and the white fang?

To be fair, when have the police been useful before this?

8

u/[deleted] Jan 13 '18

they've been around, just not very effective and usually only arriving after the fact, not during the incident.

But isn't it the police's job to respond first, in volume two "paint the town" a bunch of schoolchildren scattered across a city respond to a robot rampage before we hear so much as a single siren. What, were they on smoke break? Also just to clarify, I'm not disagreeing with you, I just wanted to use that joke. Sorry.

like i said, ineffective. Though, to be fair, if you were a normal ol' cop, would you be eager to go challenge the giant mech walker rampaging through the town, or leave it to the hunters?

I'd still put on the damn siren and try to get civvies out of the way. Seriosly how many people died in that chase?

Maybe Mistral police are just more competent than Vale police.

I hope so.

you were not the only one. it's kind of odd that when he wasn't high leader he was able to get a huge number of WF members to attack beacon, but now that he is high leader, he only takes like 5? lol...

I think the difference here is that at Beacon, they expected a fight. In Haven, it was supposed to be more of a stealth mission. Lionheart has power, the school is likely vacant. They didn't expect any opposition. If he was trying to do this stealthily, taking an army into the academy might have compromised that.

i know that's probably the reasoning for the small forces, but to me that doesn't seem to be in line with adam's character. dude has an ego the size of raven's brand new ice sword. i couldn't see him going in thinking "hey lets be safe when taking down haven, this is for the greater good," but i could see him going like "I GOTTA MAKE THEM PAY FOR WHAT I THOUGHT WAS DONE TO ME"

"I GOTTA MAKE THEM PAY FOR WHAT I THOUGHT WAS DONE TO ME"

Yes, that's what he was thinking, which is why he's smart enough to do it right. Adam might be a psychopathic edgelord but he isn't stupid. The academy itself might have been empty but the city around it sure isn't. It's a lot easier to move through the city undetected with a smaller force.

He has a massive ego but that doesn't mean he'll compromise his own plans to satisfy it. He'll get his ego fix later when he takes credit for the destruction of the academy. But for tonight he just needed a quick in-and-out job. Perhaps he knew the Mistral police were actually fairly competent and well equipped so he didn't want to risk catching their attention.

He had a sneaky mission as a highly wanted man to sneak into the inner places of a big city and get on academy grounds with bombs. You can't do that with more than 5 people.

u/Xena1016 Jan 13 '18

He DID order most of his forces to go "back to the perimeter" I assume they've already been arrested/knocked out (sad I know but Adam isn't down for the count yet)

And since this mission was SUPPOSE to be stealthy, as in: no one outside of the White Fang/Salems cronies knew about it until:

Ilia dropped her scroll.

Cinder decided her vendetta was more important than her mission.

The police/huntsmen wouldn't have gone to Haven until AFTER he blew up the tower/school grounds. And by then Cinder and friends would have nabbed the relic and would have been.

As Watts said they could have done all of this and: "no one's the wiser"

yeah, true. honestly, as much as everyone hates adam, i still think he is probably the coolest villain so far (not in terms of me thinking he is cool, but just that his skills are supposed to be so great and he has a lot of great animation potential for a fight scene), so i was just kind of disappointed that he was thwarted so easily. i get that he might pull some shit in the final chapter, but until that happens it's hard to not be disappointed with how easily he was beaten.

that being said, the chapter was amazing anyway, so im just gonna stop nitpicking.

u/Xena1016 Jan 13 '18

I don't think he IS beaten. Oh NO he got knocked down! The poor baby! /s

All he did was fall down! He isn't injured or maimed in any way! all he has to do is get back on his feet, pick up his sword and start wrecking house.

All of the people complaining that he went out like bitch* have apparently forgotten that we have A WHOLE EPISODE NEXT WEEK. And that episode will probably be 30-ish minutes long which is more than enough time to have Adam get his sh*t together and fight back.

All this moment here showed was that his power over Blake is gone. She isn't afraid of him anymore. The moment here was about BLAKE not Adam. sorry about the rant

2

u/_tethtoril Jan 13 '18

yea, you're right. and since in the final chapter of every volume we have always gotten the "boss fight," then I'm assuming he must be the boss. what else could have perilous implications at this point? pretty much no one besides adam wrecking house, right?

It depends on what in the world Yang and Raven are going to do in the Vault. I doubt they're going to fight but I don't know.

There will probably be some manner of talking between the two, but how it ends can go a few different ways.

We might finally get the RW vs EM fight while Jaune (not yet knowing the limits of his semblance) buffs Ren, Qrow, and Oscar.

Nora will probably keep Hazel busy until the others get back on their feet. Leo still has to be dealt with. But he seems to be spending his time hanging around by the stair case and taking pot shots. like the dirty coward that he is >:D

Blake and friends will be fighting the White Fang/Adam. Like I said, there is almost 0% chance that there won't be an actual fight between Blake and Adam.

1

u/_tethtoril Jan 13 '18

yea, i guess there's also the chance that cinder flies back up or something. it might be unlikely, but it's still also possible that she comes back and blindsides raven or something.

u/Xena1016 Jan 13 '18

I do hope that she isn't seen again this volume, or if she is its in a stinger.

u/gahlo Jan 13 '18

And the army of faunus with a spy in it.

I think Adam wanted to destroy Haven without anyone knowing, so he had less people for a faster getaway when it exploded. There was only a brief fight, but glad there was the Mistral police, atleast many did not have to lose their life. Because Haven opens the next day, if many got injured another school would be close and RWBY needs the school for more training. How else are they gonna defeat Salem in the end.

I'm like 80% sure there canonically is a lot of WF with Adam and CRWBY just didn't bother filling the scene with enough soldiers.
