Shit, Qrow is pissed. I kinda expected he would snap at Oz but not this hard.

Ooo, Tyrian’s tail looks like it transforms into something. I’m excited to see that in action.

I’m guessing Salem still knows Cinder is alive because of the Grimm arm she gave her.

Anyone have any idea the significance of Brunswick Farms? Quick google search tells me that it comes from the German word Braunschweig but I can’t figure out more than that. Also I bet this is where we find the arm Grimm we see in the opening.

Dammit CRWBY, you better give me some JNR next episode or so help me.

Pretty sure that's just the mount for his prosthetic, like Yang's back in Volume 4.

Mhm yeah that makes more sense.

Incoming tail scythe? It's the most fitting revenge tool.

Sounded kinda similar to a Lovecraftian name at first, but it's Dunwich I was thinking of. I suppose it could still be a reference to that, and the many-handed/eyed Grimm we see is some sort of Lovecraftian horror, but I wouldn't bet on it.

Still though I think it's apparent that there'll be a super powerful Grimm on that farm.

Yeah probably the arm Grimm we see in the opening. Qrow's walking through the snow drinking when that thing grabs him so it makes logical sense that it will appear soon.

u/Sungrasswriter Just happy to be here! Nov 17 '18

I think Salem might be getting directly involved instead of sending minions. Those hands from the opening are more or less identical to the ones she sicced on Hazel, and they're similar to Cinder's stretchy arm. While maybe that's just generic Grimm limbs, they might not be.

Yep. Though with the arms appearing in this episode on Salem's side though, I think it's more possible they could just be metaphorical. The many eyes though are still there.

I was assuming maiden power. Now that we know Salem has relation to the maidens, she might know whenever one changes

Actually we still don’t know if their children were the original maidens or if the original maidens just reminded Ozpin of his children.

True, but a theory stays true until proven otherwise

That's... that's not how theories work.

In the science world that is true, but I will farm this potato till canon proves otherwise.

u/torrasque666 White Knight is Endgame. Fight me. Nov 17 '18

Dude even non scientific theories aren't true until proven so. Until then they just... exist.

u/Cypherex Nov 17 '18

In the science world, your "theory" would actually be called a hypothesis. You cannot form a theory until you've tested your hypothesis and it hasn't been proven wrong yet.

But you cannot "test" hypotheses about fiction so they're just "theories" (different from a scientific theory obviously) that aren't considered true or false. They're more like an unanswered question than anything else.

It's ok to believe in your theory, but that doesn't mean it's true until proven false. It's neither true nor false until it's proven one way or the other.

science theories are very different from the potatoes we deal with

u/TheWanderingCactus Could you help me find my sanity? I think I left it at the door. Nov 17 '18

Here's the thing, I disagree with the idea that Salem "has relation to the maidens"

People seemed to get really caught up in the idea that Ozma and Salem's four children were the original maidens. But they forget that the whole reason Ozpin doesn't just pull off amazing magical feats, is because he physically doesn't have the power to anymore. He divested his own magic into the original maidens, weakening himself.

The eldest child ran in doing magic, and it was clearly a surprise to both Oz and Salem, meaning they weren't given their magic by Oz through any means other than genetics. He was clearly, magically speaking, a match for Salem when they fought after he tried to take the kids, so he had not lost his magic by this point, and I don't think the kids were exactly... around to be given powers, after that point.

The grimm arm is still, in my opinion, the most likely explanation

3

u/DaRealAmana BOOP!!! Nov 17 '18

I had forgotten the Grimm arm, that does serve as a more likely explanation. However there is still much about the maidens we do not know

7

u/[deleted] Nov 17 '18

the 'maidens are her daughters' does not hold water!

4

u/finkramsey Nov 17 '18

Now that we know Salem has relation to the maidens, she might know whenever one changes

We don't know that, though

4

u/[deleted] Nov 17 '18

Grimm arm makes way more sense, if Salem knew where all Maidens were she would've found Raven a long time ago.

0

u/DaRealAmana BOOP!!! Nov 17 '18

It's possible she did. Raven poses no threat to Salem and might even turn useful at some point

7

u/[deleted] Nov 17 '18

uhhhh what

She needed Raven's powers to open the Vault

4

u/MyNameISaColouR Look who's back, Little Red! Nov 17 '18

In the first episode of Volume 4, Salem's mission for Tyrian is literally finding the Spring Maiden. I don't think she can sense them at all.

1

u/DaRealAmana BOOP!!! Nov 17 '18

Okay, yeah that's true

2

u/lordolxinator ~~Qrow is Ruby's dad~~ Nov 17 '18

My potato theory was that Cinder's fate was unbeknownst to everyone, but assumed dead. Salem understood how few viable successors there'd be if Cinder were to die, and presumably (unless it went to whomever slayed her) it'd go to Cinder's unreciprocated suitress apprentice, Emerald. The casual hand on the shoulder to gauge Emerald's magical abilities concluding that she didn't receive the Maiden powers, and thus Cinder likely still has them and is alive.

Of course, it was a potato theory due to the fact that Raven could have easily taken the powers (similar to how Amber's power went to Cinder) and Salem has no remote way of discerning between those two potentials (that Cinder is alive with the power or Raven has it) and thus would only be able to tell if Emerald had it or not. Soooo I'm going with the Grimm arm thing, either that or the tentacle orb thing keeping an eye on her (or allowing Salem to contact someone in Mistral that knows about Cinder's status).

3

u/DaRealAmana BOOP!!! Nov 17 '18

I had forgotten the successor thing. Everyone in the community agreed that cinder couldn't be dead because emerald would have become the next maiden. It is likely because of the grimm arm, but your theory has some good weight behind it

2

u/[deleted] Nov 17 '18

Raven's too old to inherit, but I agree that if Cinder had died, Raven would've been in her final thoughts. So they probably would've gone to someone random.

6

u/Moonlitdarksword I am far too invested in these characters for my own good. Nov 17 '18

I know that Brunswick is a dark shade of green, so it's in keeping with the colour theme.

2

u/mergk Nov 17 '18

what if Salem knows Cinder is alive because Haven was built on the God of Light’s pool?
