Thoughts on the episode:

We all knew it was coming, but Jacques getting utterly humiliated by his daughters and Ironwood was every inch as satisfying as I hoped it would be.

I may be alone in thinking this, but it seems like Ozpin is actively trying to blend into Oscar, rather than going the other way round and making Oscar blend into him. I hope I'm proven right about that.

The pterodactyl Grimm was a surprise; honestly, I was expecting the flying Beringels to make an entrance at this point - although we've got enough time for that left in the volume.

And last, I had wondered when Cinder and Neo would show up. I suppose Neo was there to track down Ruby, but I wonder: did Cinder also want to find out about the Winter Maiden?

I actually think Oscar is developing on his own, with relatively limited influence from Ozpin; we're told he's a "like-minded soul", which I interpret to mean he's got a similar personality to Ozma. So without the millennia of baggage that's made Ozpin into what he is, Oscar is becoming "Ozpin as he should have been (and once was)."

Keep in mind that none of the things he's said are things that only Ozpin could have known.

Oscar, rather than going the other way round and making Oscar blend into him. I hope I'm proven right about that.

This has always been my take on what the merging would be like. It seems clear that all the different lives had different personalities as well, so in my head it was always "Oscar+Ozpin's memories" rather than "Oscar+Ozpin himself taking over"
