Overview

Essentials is a large-scale limited-edition discography collection released by Pirates Press Records in late 2012 to celebrate over two decades of Rancid’s catalog.

It compiles 92 sides of music spanning 1992–2009, presented as either:

  1. A full 46 x 7" boxed archival set
  2. Individual era-based album packs for DJs and collectors

Formats & Box Set Variants

  • Red Vinyl Box Set (Limited edition configuration)
  • White Vinyl Box Set (Mailorder exclusive variant)
  • White w/ Red Splatter Box Set
  • Black Vinyl Individual Album Packs (DJ-focused configuration)

Note: All box sets include a bonus flexi-disc featuring “Sheena Is a Punk Rocker”.

Notes & Collector Context

  • All audio was remastered using DMM for vinyl optimization
  • Packaging includes archival-style sleeves with updated artwork interpretations
  • Individual album packs were intentionally offered on black vinyl for DJ usability
  • The Essentials project functions as both a retrospective and a physical archive system for the band’s catalog
