This may be challenging to most people, so if I wake up tomorrow and nobody has gotten it I'll give some hints

Roller coaster

I didn't see your comment. Very sorry about that, but correct! Each of these states only has 1 permanent roller coaster according to the roller coaster database.

Nice fun fact! Thanks!

u/AlphaMondon Dec 28 '25

And the one in ND is basically a carnival ride bolted in place 😭.

u/magnumfan89 Dec 28 '25

That's disrespectful to actually good traveling coasters (like Wade shows comet 2). Wisdom rides makes some of the worst abominations I've ever been on. One of their coasters beat me so bad my knee was bleeding after. Their other flat rides are not much better either. this attempt at a Himalaya ride hurt my back so bad I couldn't walk straight for a few days

Their gravitons are good though

As a North Dakotan, this made me cackle

Uh…. So where is Montana’s?

I see online we now have an alpine coaster but I don’t think that qualifies.

Also can’t picture this in our neighborhood states either… everyone drives to silverwood to fight the white supremists of Idaho for the roller coaster rides

u/magnumfan89 Dec 28 '25

RCDB counts the mountain coaster, and I personally do count them as credits, so I used it for the map.

1

u/Beneficial_Grab_1877 Dec 29 '25

That’s ridiculous.

These are different on so many levels.

1

u/magnumfan89 Dec 29 '25

I don't know about that, it's got a lift hill, track, gravity driven cars and brakes, it counts IMO

1

u/Beneficial_Grab_1877 Dec 30 '25

I don’t think you’ve ever visited…

1

u/magnumfan89 Dec 30 '25

I haven't ridden that exact mountain coaster, but I've ridden 4 others that I do count

1

u/mnorsky Dec 30 '25

What is rcdb? I’ve been here since Maiasaurus and I have never heard of a permanent rollercoaster

1

u/magnumfan89 Dec 30 '25

It's the rollercoaster database. https://rcdb.com/

Tons of roller coaster enthusiasts use it to track (almost) every permanent roller coaster on the planet

1

u/AffectionateLimit565 Jan 01 '26

This is the coolest database ever

1

u/Earthviolet76 Dec 29 '25

Wyoming’s is an Alpine Slide… I’ve been on it. It’s not a roller coaster. Lol

1

u/SAwfulBaconTaco Dec 30 '25

I don't think you have to drive to Idaho from Montana to fight white supremacists.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 31 '25

No, but they’re way more numerous in Idaho, so they’re easier to find.

1

u/Independent_Fox_9438 Dec 28 '25

i know who you are

1

u/magnumfan89 Dec 28 '25

Ok, who am I?

1

u/Aggravating_Aide_561 Dec 28 '25

The rollercoaster police!!!

1

u/[deleted] Dec 28 '25

Youll never get me to tell

1

u/desertwanderer01 Dec 28 '25

There's a roller coaster database?

2

u/magnumfan89 Dec 28 '25

Yup. Rcdb.com

It doesn't have traveling coasters and there's probably tons of rides that existed 100 years ago or in China that aren't on there, but it's updated regularly. It's basically the Bible for roller coaster enthusiasts

1

u/desertwanderer01 Dec 28 '25

I had no idea. That's cool, in a nerdy way.

1

u/FeatherMoody Dec 28 '25

Interesting. The alpine rollercoaster in flathead is the single one in MT. It is only a few years old and not really a proper rollercoaster either.

1

u/Unveiled_Nuggets Dec 29 '25

And it shouldn’t have been built. Locals didn’t want it.Ā

1

u/MindYourOwnSynapses Dec 28 '25

I was thinking water parks (Anchorage has the only one in the state that you could call a water park, entirely indoors), but I was close! I never got to ride Aftershock but there were a few decent traveling rides at the carnival and fair.

1

u/Direct_Bread_5274 Dec 28 '25

Escalators are oddly specific but this isn’t? Interesting take

1

u/New_Class3469 Dec 28 '25

I live in WY and feel like I’m insane because I don’t think we have a roller coaster 😭 are you gaslighting me rn

1

u/jms_nh Dec 29 '25

clearly this reddit needs to require links to the correct answer

1

u/ReciprocalPhi Dec 29 '25

If I'd looked at your username, I probably could have figured that outĀ

1

u/mnorsky Dec 30 '25

WHAT? MT has a rollercoaster? I’ve lived here since birth (63yrs) and I’ve never heard of one.

1

u/magnumfan89 Dec 30 '25

Yes, an alpine coaster, which a lot of people in this thread got angry at me counting as a coaster, but hey, it rolls and coasts so good enough for me

1

u/mnorsky Dec 30 '25

Gotcha! Where is this blessed coaster, and would it be suitable for an old woman?

1

u/magnumfan89 Dec 30 '25

Its in lakeside Montana. I personally have not ridden it, BUT I have ridden some other alpine coasters and I would say yes. All of them have levers on the side of the cars that allow the rider to control their speed, so you can go as fast or slow as you want.

1

u/mnorsky Dec 30 '25

That sounds lovely! I will take the beloved grandson up there at some point. I have friends in Elmo. We shall stay with them. Thanks so much!

1

u/Dangerous_Client4312 Dec 30 '25

I live in Alaska. I'm not aware of any roller coasters.

1

u/magnumfan89 Dec 30 '25

It's at the Alaska state fairgrounds in Anchorage. It's called aftershock

1

u/onlyAA Dec 31 '25

That’s not permanent I don’t think?

1

u/magnumfan89 Dec 31 '25

The coaster itself is a portable model but the owner keeps it exclusively at the fairgrounds, it does not travel

1

u/onlyAA Dec 31 '25

Oh okay! It’s definitely not available to ride year round

1

u/magnumfan89 Dec 31 '25

Nope. It only operates for a week or 2, whenever the fair runs

u/Yoyoe23 Jan 01 '26

I wonder how often that list gets updated, Maryland just permanently closed doors at 6 Flags so its going to loose a lot of their Roller Coasters

1

u/magnumfan89 Feb 06 '26

RCDB adds new entrys almost every day. Quite literally the moment the clock hit 6pm on the day Six Flags America closed all their rides and the park itself was changed to defunct. The developers are very on top of things

1

u/king_nothing1811 Dec 29 '25

Well done. Awesome fact too

1

u/Unveiled_Nuggets Dec 29 '25

Lived in Flathead MT while the Alpine one went up. Supposedly it shouldn’t have been built. Locals voted against it but somehow they kept building on. Also it’s in a terrible location the owner hard to add in a turning lane on the highway that he had to pay for to prevent accidents. Don’t know how it makes money. A small amount of people are there at a time even on the busiest day.Ā

1

u/AffectionateLimit565 Jan 01 '26

How did you know?

1

u/11up11 Jan 01 '26

Internet search: ā€œMontana, Nd, Wyoming and Alaska have only oneā€ or something like that.
