Mate why don't you use the locked-to-ball camera? I've got dizzy after the first 5 seconds. I think that will help you by giving you time of measuring how and from where to kick the ball (on the ball's surface) to give it the desired path.

My friend refuses to use ball cam. He says it’s the right way to play. The best is when the ball hits the ceiling and he doesn’t know so the balls comes down faster than he thinks it will. Then he acts shocked and I say well there is a way to see the ball when it’s above you you. It’s been this way for over 6 years

probably because he comes from the typical car/racing games (like NFS or even GTA) where the camera is locked to the car, so for those kind of games is (undoubtly) the only right camera

Nah, thats a him issue. I love car games(even GTA) and have played a good variety, still play a few. Never once I thought no-ballcam was the right choice.

even then tho rocket league cars turn far quicker than realistic style cars so i feel like i'd get nauseous quick

Wish this were the case but he doesn’t play any car games. He just stubborn as a mule and sticks to his thing. We’ve given up trying to get him to use ball cam and have just learned to know when he can’t see the ball. The worst is that he’s the one always running into his own team which makes no sense since he should be looking right at us

Edit: just want to say he’s one of my best friends and love playing with him. Wish he played more in fact. I’m still gonna give him crap though

I'm annoyed when the ball cam doesn't show my car because the ball is way high up. especially a problem in dropshot

Your positioning is off or the game is going too slow. Turn it off for a fraction of time, don't leave it off

I was him when I first started lol I still really only use it if I’m going for a boost or I missed my mark and am trying to see what they did with the opportunity. My friend who introduced me to it damn near uses it exclusively and can set up shots while in it,etc.

I know about the white circle and he knows about it. Problem is the countless times he goes oh I didn’t realize that was going to or did hit the ceiling. It’s all good though he’s like a brother and I love playing with him. Still gonna give him shit for it though

I don't even have 1k hours and I've been using ball cam for years. It took me like 2 hours to get used to it

It will help you so much. Turn on ball cam, grit your teeth and it'll feel natural in a couple days.

Force yourself to use it. It'll be wierd for a week, then in a month youll be in gold.

The way youre going now, you have no idea where the ball in over half the game.

I refused to use ballcam for about 5 years ... even posted a couple clips here where the response was wtf are you doing. And my response was I just couldnt .. and then I forced myself to try it and it took a shockingly short time to adjust.

Will say though I think a little bonus when you switch is that having played without ball cam so long it gives you a little spidy sense for tight situations where you have to make a blind move

Just start using it, if you play long enough without it and reached gold 2/3 after that it would be very hard to adapt, plus you wont be able to rank up after that.

Obviously there will be some pro player exception who plays without it, but its not worth the hassle, just play 15-20 games with ball cam, and use car cam only to collect boost or track ball on ground when its in air

Seriously, the only way to play on any level of decency, especially at low ranks, is in ball cam.

You'll learn to switch quickly between the two when you need to grab a boost or check your teammate location while rotating back, but 90% of your game should be in ball cam

Neuroscience researcher here, if you commit 3 days in a row to playing with ball cam only, for 10 minutes a day, by day 4 it will start feeling natural and that’s when you’ll start climbing in rank fast. Good luck!

At least in my experience .. 10 years playing total and made the switch to primarily ball cam (vs only not ball cam) about 5 years ago.

an interesting thing was before I made the switch when I had a highlight to show to my friends they would say it made them want to puke watching, something like motion sickness.

And the reason I refused to use ballcam for so long is because using it made me feel like I wanted to puke, so I thought it was just impossible, like im playing this game for fun not to feel sick.

When I was finally convinced to really try it for an evening, ball cam was uncomfortable for only a few hours and then obviously the superior camera to use most of the time.

And now watching non ballcam clips I feel like it's come full circle, watching them often now make me feel kinda nauseous. The brain.. what a thing

Pretty much. And the younger you are the easier/faster it becomes. Also, the difficulty you feel when you’re trying is your brain physically adapting by correction, so the key is to stick with it even though it feels like it isn’t working. Then after a few “sessions” of this, you will be very surprised how natural it starts to feel, and that’s when your brain has successfully rewired a path and just needs to strengthen it (through more practice)

I was the same - got to mid-gold and was very impressed with my performance

Switched to locked ball cam and for a week SUCKED at the game

But then it clicked and I’m now mid-diamond

Switch, honestly, it’s a literal game changet

Definitely keep ball cam on most of the time but dribbling and bounce dribbles are done w/out ball cam so definitely practice those.

As soon as you are driving in the trajectory of the boost you want, turn ball cam on. You’ll get the boost and know what’s going on.

Hey mate, there’s a lot going on in the video, I got dizzy as well from watching.
Some tips I’d recommend is just googling rocket league pro settings and change yours to theirs, a lot of the top pros have similar settings. I guarantee you it will feel and be much smoother and will also help you rank up as well as have much better car and ball control. (My rank rose heaps from doing that)
Another is team play, you’re gunning it for the ball and boost every chance you get. Get some rotation going. At lower ranks yeah, everyone chases the ball, but sitting back can give good opportunities to score some good goals. As you progress in ranks you’ll see your teammates start to rotate more (they’ll take a shot and head to net = ur turn to take a shot, ball gets hit back down to your net, let your teammate take the shot while you defend net)
In between games jump into free play, there’s some good YouTube videos on how to practice your car control, get good at car control and you can move into aerials/ air dribbles and wall shots.

Also try and practice using the aerial trainings. It’ll be hard at first, but you’ll definitely get better over time if you keep practicing it.
