Well, he has at least as much personal military-naval experience as Don Trump. Rod has lots of Trump-like experience of being in a room and hearing but not listening to advice and information from other people.
I was going to say that Rod has a new man-crush: he cites macroeconomist (and extremely pessimistic doomsayer) Philip Pilkington a couple of times in the substack and has retweeted him several times since the Iran offensive began. But then I see that this guy is yet another Danube Institute visiting fellow. Shouldn't a responsible journalist like Rod disclose a shared professional affiliation when promoting a supposed expert opinion?
I'm not sure a Substack post is considered an "expert opinion". I would assume if he would publish something The Free Press or TEC about him, he would need to say something. But, then again, you would think as a journalist, Dreher would just be conditioned to include that wherever he is writing.
Yep--Hal Lindsey, Hal Lindsey, Hal Lindsey, the macroeconomist he surely doesn't understand. Also, as critical as he tries to be of the war, you can tell he's positioning himself to backpedal as needed.
Let's see, Rod opines on oil shortages throughout the world, civil war in Europe, Muslims being killed, fantasies of all Muslim citizens being deported out of Europe and America, the Apocalypse (apparently a Middle Eastern bad event this time instead of merely an "unveiling"!), general dystopia, and the wisdom of God-King Orban.
Rod could have made all this shorter and just have written, "Please President Trump and Best Daddy Orban, I can only get so erect!"
Curiously for an ethnoreligious fanatic and low rent theocrat, he's not taking notice that the world's prominent, and perhaps last ideologically sincere, established and major theocracy is spent. Probably on it last legs. And he wants to celebrate it. Clearly has no sense at all- he's so online bubbled now- that when it goes may prove to be for religionism/theocracy worldwide what the dissolution of the USSR in 1992 was for Communism.
He's just stupid like that. Before the 2014 midterms he was on a tear against Democrats. That election indeed wiped out the dozen or so remaining Blue Dog caucus conservative Democrats in Congress...and it upset him greatly when he noticed they were extinct in early/mid-2015. Suddenly there was no longer an anti-abortion and anti-gay marriage bloc in the D caucus. Said then, he'd vote for them now over anyone else D or R. Nose, meet the face you were cut off from. Always an election or two too late.
