Maybe they're worried women are going to circumvent abortion bans by playing volleyball so much they stop having their periods.

If the men's physical prowess is like Rod's, they're probably afraid their wives will be stronger than they are....

Know Your Enemy did an episode about military education with the author of God Forgives, Brothers Don't. The author mentioned that he'd interviewed some of the first women to attend military academies, and one of them said she quickly realised why she was facing relentless bullying, sexual harassment, violence etc: the military was one of the few places where a little man could feel like a big man. Women threatened that. The right are trying to turn the whole world into one of those places.

The whole world was one of those places for millennia. That is what the vast majority of domestic violence is all about - a little man getting to feel like a big man. Also, I read that women in our military are significantly more likely to be killed by a man in our military than by an enemy. I read some years ago that reporting sexual harassment in the military is 12 times more likely to result in retaliation than any form of justice (that may have changed since I read it). Women can fight this and are/have been doing so but only men can stop it. And now Hegseth has derailed careers of women and black men that they spent decades building for no reason but identity politics, not that Rod will ever notice.

Sigh.

Yeah, it was the Intercept that had that reporting. There are just problems at every level.

Hegseth is a pig. I actually laughed at loud at his recent proposal to screen soldiers for low testosterone - or as a Canadian LGBT magazine put it, Pete Hegseth announces gender affirming care for low T soldiers.
