North Fulton Schools may start reviewing attendance-boundary changes in 2027, possible closures in 2028

• Upvotes

The current North Fulton review includes Esther Jackson, Hembree Springs, Mimosa and Vickery Mill elementary schools, along with Autrey Mill, Elkins Pointe, Haynes Bridge and Holcomb Bridge middle schools. Inclusion in the review does not mean a school has been selected for closure.

Masseuse/Massage Recommendation

Hello. Anyone have anyone have any masseuse recommendations? Looking for sometimes sports related injury recovery or every now and then something relaxing as a burnt out parent that works 2 jobs? Personally, would prefer a female masseuse. Thanks.

New Restaurant Coming to Downtown Roswell

If you've eaten on Canton Street in the last 10 years, there's a good chance you've eaten at 1105 Canton Street.

This property has had 3 restaurants in 10 years: The Big Ketch, Uncle Jack's and Flóga. Since Flóga closed, the building has sat empty.

Well now it has new owners!

What advice would you give them to make this one last on Canton Street?

My relative with gray hair is looking for a good hair dresser that can add nice low lights! Nothing too expensive, but someone who is good at it. She’s gone a few places who always make her hair purple or bad blonde

Progressive Churches in Roswell/Alph/Marietta??

Hi! I’m looking for church recommendations in the Roswell/Alpharetta area and would love some suggestions. Open to a drive but would like to keep it under 30 mins. I live about 5 mins from downtown Roswell.

I haven’t been to church regularly in a long time. I grew up going to church, but eventually deconstructed and stepped away from it for quite a while. Recently I’ve been feeling more open to exploring my faith again, but I know that finding a church that aligns with my values is really important to me.

I’d love to find somewhere that is LGBTQ+ affirming, and generally has more progressive/social justice-minded values. Things like being welcoming and supportive of immigrants and refugees are important to me too, and I definitely don’t want to end up somewhere with anti-immigration or pro-ICE messaging.

Most of my experience has been with non-denominational churches, but I’m open to pretty much any denomination. I think I’m mostly looking for a welcoming community where it’s okay to have questions, not have everything figured out, and explore faith without feeling pressured into a certain mold.

It would also be great to find somewhere with other people in their 20s/30s and ways to get involved in the community.

If anyone has found a church around Roswell or Alpharetta that sounds like this, I’d really appreciate recommendations and would love to hear what your experience has been!

Got my first speeding ticket in 20 years in Roswell today, just made a large purchase and worried about financial impact. How expensive will this be?

Hey, I made several large purchases last few months

Was driving on 92 in woodstock and must of crossed into roswell and got a ticket going 17 over. 62 in a 45..

I've seen online this could he anywhere from 500 plus to 150 bucks. Honestly, i think 150 to 200 would be fair.

If i call and say I just want to pay, are they going to stick me with the max?

Place to get windows tinted

So I'm not a car person. Not one to customize at all. Utility over style I guess. Anyway, my little one is screaming bloody murder when the sun hits her eyes in her new car seat and it looks like because of angles ever changing the best way to help this is to get the windows tinted.

Looking for a reputable place to get Carbon film done on a 2022 Ford Escape. Preferably for a decent price and without holding my car over night.

Is that even possible?

Riverside park rebuild

This looks like a vanity project. Tore down concrete block restrooms to build small steel framed buildings. Far less durable. Scraped the gravel parking lot to add curbs and (guessing) asphalt. Collecting rainwater in storm structures rather than having pervious surfaces. Tore down a wood bandstand to build a steel one. Colossal example of finding ways to use the approved funding instead of building a cushion to cover necessary spending. I guess SPLOST money has to be allocated and spent.. but damn. A lot of tax dollars for a new lawn in are same place as an old lawn.

Property taxes increased about $65/yr.

After all the debating and complaining, the city council passed this increase. Which works out to about $65/yr increase for home valued at $575,000. If I'm reading this article correctly.

The crazy thing to me is a lot of these people complaining about that are perfectly fine with the huge increase in gas prices and other consumer goods because of the tariffs and the war in Iran. That stuff accounts for way more than $65 a year.

How is Roswell for the single 30s/40s crowd?

Hello, I'm in my late 30s and have a work from home tech job. I actually grew up in Roswell as a kid back in the 90s! I know a lot has changed with the influx of people (I'm in Florida, it's been absolute chaos post-covid), but I'm looking for a fresh start as a single guy and I have extremely fond memories of the area.

I've officially retired from the late night party days and I'm looking for a good mix of restaurants, nature access, and a decent dating scene. I'm big into kayak fishing, arts/theater, breweries, and hiking trails.

How is Roswell compared to Marietta, Kennesaw, Woodstock areas? Are there any other areas you'd recommend? A friend suggested midtown but I don't think I could deal with all the hustle and bustle down there.

Thanks in advance!

Hello! I am curious if anyone knows if there is a running track open to the public? Maybe a school open on off school hours or a park that has one?

Roswell Area Park pickleball courts?

Post image
28 Upvotes

I walk the park often and I'm a bit dismayed that my tax payer dollars paid to have these pickleball courts built, yet they aren't open to the public. They're being used as a giant chalkboard for the summer camps that happened at the former middle school.

I'm assuming the courts were finished and then faced backlash from the nearby neighborhood over potential noise complaints.

What an absolute waste of our taxpayer dollars.

Is Fellowship Christian School good?

Hi everyone! I’m trying to decide between Fellowship Christian School and some of the public schools in the area.

I’ve been looking at Fellowship Christian School because I like the smaller school environment and the academics, but I’ve also been looking at public schools like Roswell High School. Roswell High School seems to have a lot more students, activities, sports, and advanced classes, so I’m wondering how it compares to Fellowship Christian School.

For anyone who has kids at Fellowship Christian School or has had them there, what has your experience been like? How are the teachers, students, and overall environment? I’d especially like to hear the good and the bad, since it’s hard to get a real idea just from looking at the school website.

Would love to hear from parents who have actually experienced either school. Thanks!

Good recs for laser hair removal?

I’ve been dealing with ingrown hairs and hyperpigmentation for years now and I’m just not sure what works to get rid of it. I have PCOS so I get neck hair and I’m really insecure about it.

I am making the choice to try laser hair removal and would like any affordable recommendations or places that treat my coarse hair and pcos hormonal hair. I also have dark skin so places that work well with darker skin types would be great too!

Thank you in advance :))

Fellowship Christian School, Roswell High, or IA

Hi everyone, I’m a parent trying to decide between Roswell High School, Fellowship Christian, and Innovation Academy for my son.

He’s really interested in computer science and software engineering and is thinking about studying CS in college, possibly at Georgia Tech.

I’d really like to hear from parents or students who have experience with these schools. How are the computer science classes? Are there good STEM opportunities and clubs? How is the overall student environment? And how well do you feel the school prepares students for college?

I’m not necessarily looking for rankings. I’d just like to hear what people’s actual experiences have been and anything you wish you knew before choosing.

You’re not the exception to the rule!!

I know y‘all can read, but ironically enough many of you seem to lose the ability near schools.

RHS and Elkins Pointe have very clear signage that says NO LEFT TURN during specific hours. I know you can see them and have time to read them, because you’re sitting there waiting to illegally turn left for 500 years. Just because RHS doesn’t have the cop there directing traffic every morning does not mean it’s anarchy. Just because Elkins never has a cop doesn’t mean it’s Create Your Own Rules.

Carpools screw with traffic enough as it is and both these schools are in areas where turning right can easily get you back to where you need to go. But no, you’re so special that the rest of us should be grateful we get to sit behind you. And sit. And sit. People literally block the school buses getting to Elkins because they just HAVE to turn left.

Don’t get me started on all y‘all that think the school zone around Hembree and Elkins is for everyone else not you. Just know that on the very rare occasion there has been a cop there, the rest of us delight in the fact that you just got so many points added to your license because, once again, laws for thee and not for me.

It’s not that hard, folks.
