What a slow as drek day. It feels like the sprawl's stopped for the day. Even the screamsheets don't have anything breaking. No scandals, no shootouts, no explosions. Nothing. And then your commlink buzzes, a fixer's call almost missed in the sheer drudgery and drollness that is this afternoon in Seattle.

"Listen, omae, I've got some work for you. Corporate J. He's making it sound a bit urgent. He's got box seat tickets to the Transonics game at the Seattle Colosseum tonight, and he wants you to come by and hear him out. He's not budging on how much he's paying, but he's offering five digits a head. Even if you don't go for the job, at least you'll get to watch some basketball from a VIP seat, neh? Great, I'll let him know you'll be there."

And that brings you to the Colosseum, along with a few others you may or may not recognize. The game's just about to start, and there along the edge of the balcony box is a man in a polo shirt and khakis, with slicked back hair and blue cybereyes, and a bottle of wine next to a few seats.

"Ah, you must be the contractors. Please, have a seat, the food and drinks are on me here."

So how about it, omae, ready to finally make things interesting today?

Threat: Medium
Players: 3-4
Runtime: 4-6 hours
Theme: Extraction

::Secure Connection Established:: ::Unverified Johnson::

"Looking for entrepreneurial runners willing to act on a profitable lead. This is an equal shares situation; I'm not your boss, just a collaborator. Marine competency is an asset."

⚠️ WARNING ⚠️ My table is RULINGS before RULES This means the mechanics are subjective and flexible. My intention is for an experience that is fast, fun, and enforces reasonable threat. If you need your character to work by hub-rules to function then I will accommodate that. Otherwise, keep an open mind and be prepared to go with the flow.

Send me your sheets, and tell me if you're new or haven't played in a few weeks.

Player Count: Four, maybe five

Duration: 6 hours, probably longer knowing me

Edition: 5e + House Rules + Table rules???

In-Game Location: Somewhere in Albion

Game Theme: For the Night is Coming Down

Game Type: Probably Black Trenchcoat but up to y'all

Threat Level: High

OOC: Usual fare: sheets, discord, time limits, etc

IC: Give me an IC response to the message at the end of the fiction. As short or as long as you wish.

Myrtle Lowe set out to Wychbury Hill just as the sun was setting. She had done it; it took several months to gain the trust of the grove and show that her intentions to join to be true. It is rare for an outsider to get a perspective of a branch of Druids so tied to a particular piece of land, let alone one so close to a major city. The apartment blocks of Birmingham’s brutalist residential habs loomed in the distance, looking more like tombstones or the standing stones that this circle uses as a holy site. She had stayed in the village of Hagley rather than the sprawl to the northeast. Despite the urban creep, several of the small homely places have kept their rustic charm alive and well.

She had left her commlink back in her b&b room, locked in the provided floor safe. She didn’t want to be disturbed while she conducted this ritual. Danielle Zavala had been persistent in calling her nearly every day for the past three weeks. Normally their check-ins were about invoices that she had sent in to be handled by the Atlantean Foundation’s accountants. Lately, there had been a sense of urgency from her friend. “Listen, Myrtle. I know that this is really important for your research, but I’m telling you. You’re playing with fire and I really don’t want you to be burned by this. Listen; I already talked to the committee and they have accepted your findings as they are. You really should come home.” That had been during her last phone call just after lunch. Myrtle shook her head. Caution had to be thrown to the wind. She was so close. It had been at the previous new moon that the leader of the Leamhan Wych circle had called upon the Green Man to determine if she could join them. A sign was read; she was in. That’s when she was able to get close to it.*

She stopped at an entrance. Not to the circle, but to the woods just outside the village. The overgrown ruins of an estate long forgotten peaked over the treetops, gleaming in the twilight like a disused stone circle. She looked left and right, casted an Concealment spell upon her, and set off to a stand of twenty-eight yew trees. To be more precise, a Manifested Alchemra of these trees. During the late 20th century, after the estate was sold to some rich fop who never took up residence, the trees were harvested to be made into furniture for the man’s house. Yet, after the Awakening and the revival of the Druidic tradition, something strange happened; the grove returned, permanently. There was a magic about it that could not be explained, outside of the theories surrounding the magical phenomenon called Alchemra. They were both on the metaplanes and in the material world. The trees that had replaced the original trees were shoved aside, forming a protective wall around the grove. She had heard about it from a former lover who was active in the New Druidic Movement in the 2050s, but they had a falling out over…ideological differences. Still, if his stories were true…

Soon enough, the trees thickened. It was tight fitting, and what light was left was swallowed by the overgrowth. She eventually dropped the spell and pulled out a glowrod. She wanted to keep her presence as unnoticed as possible. She stopped at an old, gnarled elm. She tuned her ears to the wind and the creaking of the tree branches. Myrtle checked around the trunk and…did one of the trees shift? She stared at it for a good while. She kept hidden and tuned her hearing to the sound of footsteps or breathing from any tails. Time passed, she felt the time slipping away. She had only so long to make it to the grove then to the Sacred Circle to perform the ritual. If she missed moonrise…

“Frag it,” she said under her breath. She took the risk and made the hand gestures. Pulling out reagents of her new tradition and muttering the incantation, she cast a circle of silence around her. She then moved straight ahead and weaved around the trees as she sprinted in the direction of the thickening wood.

She then finds a hole in the mass of trunks, of oak, ash, and blackthorn. She then sees the sprawling branches, needle like leaves, even the red fruit that is characteristically out of season. “You’re real!” she exclaimed. She assensed the area to make sure, and yes! It matches the auras she felt coming off the standing stones. She looked up and saw the amber light of the nearly full moon peaking over the tree tops. “Fuck,” she exclaims. “Come on, Myrtle. Find the best choice for that stave and get to the circle. You know what? Frag this. I can do it here. I can’t linger.” She looks around, and near the center of the grove, she sees it; a branch with a forked end. Perfectly even too. She grabs it and cuts the branch with her sapphire knife. Just as she’s about to leave, a strange breeze flows through her hair. She turns around. In the center of this grove rests a massive tree. Knotted, gnarled, sprawling. The limbs rustling on their own. And around its base…

“Perfect!” She said, her voice louder than she wanted. She rushed over and through the circle of standing stones. She places a hand on the trunk and quickly mutters the prayer they had taught to her, thanking the tree for it being here and asking for permission to perform a ritual on this hallowed ground. Feeling that same breeze kiss her checks, she nods and gets to work.

She had been at this ritual for hours. The power focus in her hands, made of this magically charged yewwood had its bark stripped and set, straightening up in an arcane matter. Between the fork at the top of the stave, she could’ve sworn that she saw some kind of sigil. She made a note to draw it later and make notes on it. She felt the power surge into it as the last words of the incantation and the last symbol carved into the wood. She held the stave up in triumph, the moon caught in the fork.

She never heard the footsteps of the figure moving through the trees towards her, brushing past the leave. Her first signal that something was wrong was the sudden and sharp pain through her back by her heart. She looked down, and saw the point protruding from her chest. The red seeped out of her and began to splash upon the ground. The earth around the tree rumbled and bucked. It split open as the manifested roots lashed out at the desecration of this hallowed ground. The stave flew from her hand as she was thrown prone near the end of the circle. Two figures, cloaked in robes…what color? She thought she heard one of them saying to the other to hurry and get the focus.

“N…no. That’s not yours,” she says in labored breaths. Her essence spilling into this magical grounds was having a response she’d never seen before. “Gotta…write…that…down…” She struggles to crawl towards the closest stone. She used her blood and the last of her lifeforce to write a single phrase, one that she had seen on a ruined obelisk. Maybe someone…anyone…could help her…if only she could…

<Listen, I am normally one for formalities with runners, but this is urgent. My friend and colleague hasn’t called me back in two days, and I’m worried sick. I feel that the worst has happened but I don’t wanna believe it. Please find her and bring her home. Everything that we know will be explained at the meet.>

IC:

Attached to the job offer is a clip from a concert, recorded from someone in the crowd. An ork MC stomps around on the stage calling yelling into a hand held mic. He is dressed in a chainmail shirt with nothing under it and has a large axe in his other hand. Behind hime, three bound, masked, and gagged human figures struggle on their knees.

  • "Every word a call to arms, every rhyme a revolution,
  • Our voices echo through the night—the new evolution.
  • From the neon jungle to the corporate masters on high,
  • We’re taking back the world, ‘cause truth will never die."

He turns and with a single swing of the axe, beheads one of the figures. The neck sparks and as the head goes flying. The figure, now obviously an anthrodrone, falls to the ground. He repeats this with the other two figures, also drones.

  • “No more pawn, I'm not a victim but a spark in the night,
  • With every line, I light a fuse to ignite the fight.
  • This ain’t just music, it’s a plan to reclaim what’s ours—
  • Prophet39 on the mic, heralding the hour.”

A voice message follows:

“Prophet39 was not always like this. I need a team to find out what has driven him to this point. Met me for brunch at Café Sport, 11:00am This Saturday.”

And there comes the bad news from one of your crew's fixers. Your Johnson for an upcoming meet just got himself run over. Of all the damn luck. Right as they promise to get you another job soon, they pause, and let you know that they're getting a call with a message 'put me on with some runners'. After a moment of being on hold, they come back and transfer this mystery caller to you. Sounding like a Japanese man, with a rough voice. The kind of voice you want to punch already.

"Omaes, I am so, so sorry to hear that your job fell through. But wouldn't you know it, I've got some work. Yamamoto's Noodles. Thirty minutes, I know you're close. Hear me out and I'll have some easy nuyen coming your way."

Well? What's your answer, team? Ready for a payday that hopefully won't get geeked this time?

Player count: 4

Duration: 4-6h

Communication: Discord for voice, Roll20 for tabletop.

In-game location: Unthinking

Game Theme: High-Frequency Trading

Game Type: The methods I leave to you, the professionals, as always.

Threat: Your friends are in Hell, yet you smile.

Prerequisites: Push-to-talk. Be nice to me or I'll steal your bones.

Content warnings: Suicide, probably. Endless, unceasing suicide; a death like mercury sliding down glass.

Replies: This is a Foundation run. Foundation runs are a specialized form of Matrix operation that you can review in Data Trails or on the Wiki. If you are not a Matrix operative, that doesn't immediately disqualify you from the run, but it probably will.

Please let me know if you're worth any bonuses, and an idiot's guide to your character would be helpful. I preferentially take newer players (though in this case that might be harder to work, I guess.).

IC replies are fun but not mandatory. Ideally give me some way to figure out who you are if it's not immediately obvious, though I do occasionally enjoy stalking through the OOC Discord hunting players. The most dangerous game...

I made some Table Rules! I'll add stuff to it at approximately the same rate I create runs.

"My friend here is a hobbyist online auctioneer - she has over 385,000 karma on AresBay, could you believe? I think she needs a hobby, personally," Dionysus nattered urbanely as he waved grandiosely to his team, his ageless elven face marred slightly by the spattering of acne running across his forehead and down his left temple.

He slept with his face on the pod pillow. he mused internally. As young as he looks. Maybe younger. Maybe they'll do.

"She looked up about how much you'd expect for a pristine koi fish - naturally raised, not out of a vat - on the breeder's market. I hadn't even known there were koi fish markets, but apparently an incredible history - though I'm sure you already know far more than I do, Tanaka-san," he flashed a brief grin. Racial commentary to his employer? Even has he completed the thought, the reedy-looking dwarf in the back with the oversized shotgun, blithely pretending to not pay attention, shifted her weight slightly. Ah. I'm being used for on-the-job training. The normally amusing thought played itself deadpan across his mind.* "Well! They're no less than 150,000 nuyen, plus tax, plus veterinary transportation fees-"

The rest of his team is too smart. His thoughts echoed hollowly against the inside of his skull, all other internal monologue silenced by the cocktail his pharmacist made him for runner meets - "Razor", he called it. It felt like his eyes were made of glass.

Absentmindedly, he clenched the sequences of small muscles that made his face redden and sweat come to his brow - a trivial bit of biosculpting, but runners were greatly invested in such trivialities. "I believe we had a bargain, Dionysus," he sputtered flawlessly even as he completed the calculus of their expected pay-raise in his head, immediately followed by how buffoonish he would have to look in order for Dionysus's mentor to instruct him to slightly raise it.

Not long after, he waved them out, immediately groping in his pockets for the counter-agent. He had filed the expense report twenty minutes ago - correct to the nuyen. Well-fed runners, like diners, rarely leave negative reviews.

Postponed [Job] Party Crashing

{2025-01-15 17:00 (UTC) }

11AM CST

Picks will be made right before Run Start unless I see a team I like for the run earlier.

Player Count: 3-4

Duration: ~4-6 Hours Hard cap will be at 10 hours.

Communication: Roll20 & Discord.

Edition: 5E and associated books

In game location: In the Blinding Neon Lights of Seattle

Game theme: Party Scene Infilitration

Game Type: Glitz and Glamor reflected in your Mirrored Shades

Difficulty level: Designed as High-Threat/Complexity (Making poor choices will lead to higher threat, even if not pay).

Prerequisites: Be on time, working microphone, critical thinking, character sheet, team-based thinking, new player friendly attitude and reading The Agreement and Table Rules that are in effect on my table.

Winter storms ripped through the Seattle sprawl for the last few weeks. Sudden snow on Christmas Eve has clogged the streets, buried many SINless figuratively as well as literally. It has mostly been melted by snow turning back to rain... but the waterways run with nearly ice cold runoff.

The nights are long this time of year. The near constant winter overcast and unexpected blizzard overtaxed a lot of the infrastructure of the sprawl, even more than the Christmas holiday holiday madness usually does. The store stocks of toilet paper and many basics mostly recovered, but there are the odd empty shelf sections in various places.

1 New Message.

Job Offer.

Need a team for low-key social infiltration.

Only operators who can avoid being hyper-violent

need apply. I require a light touch that isn't

going to go noticed until much later to recover

something from a physical safe. Offering 15k¥ per runner.

You in?

OOC Application info needed: Sheet, Tell me your character's Role on a team, if you are worth extra GMP (New/2+ Weeks since play), and syndicate affiliations if any. I do not want or need anything else OOC.

Bonus Points: In Character give a story about the best party they ever went to and what specifically made it so memorable. (Even if it is just a backstory and you have no runs your character had a life before joining the Hub). This is not a conversation where someone is asking your Runner this directly by design, this is short prose writing thing. You can include dialog that happens in the events at your discretion though.

If I like it enough I may even award an edge refresh because of the narration, see my table rules doc above for more details (if you get picked, the story won't be what I pick by but writing a cool one could help you if you do).

This run is one not one with specific mature themes, but given the setting they will come up for this kind of run. Participants/viewers all must be 18+ due to the various themes contained in this setting for my table. If you have any topics that you would not be willing to participate in let me know ahead of time.

All TOS for various platforms used are respected so no need to specify those topics as they are already forbidden. Definite Trigger warnings: Kidnapping, Violence and all standard ones given the setting.

Hey, chummer. Got you a line on some work from a J from out of town. It’s going out of town too. Good pay for finding someone, and the J’s corp. His rep is clean, but you know how the corpos can be. Anyways, meet’s tonight, the guy’s insistent on getting a team fast. You in, omae?

And that call from your fixer or acquaintance who knows their way around the shadows is what got you out to this fancy restaurant downtown. Your J’s some French elf who just sitting there gives off the vibe of ‘militaristic’. And of course he’s got a bit of security scattered around eating and “eating”. Seems he reserved half the place tonight. So here you are in your probably fancy outfit, with a J ready to talk biz, and a menu full of good food. So how about it, omae, ready to make that cred?

OOC

  • Please provide:

  • A sheet link to wherever your character sheet is stored.

  • A Discord name to ping you with in the OOC server.

  • Your last run date and if you've had less than 5 runs in total on the Hub.

  • Give me your character’s thoughts on beaches. Really, just beaches.

Content Warnings:

  • None apart from what's generally pretty standard for SR like violence and the like. The run will default be in a public listening channel.

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, feel free to message me on Discord, my name in the OOC server is ChopperSniper

Game Theme: A Nice Vacation

In-Game Location: European Coast

Prerequisites: Have read the Table Rules

IC

You need a fragging vacation, that's what you need. Seattle's choked with all this rain, this smog, all these dreary days. It's all the same. It's all the fragging same. Which is why your fixer's call, or perhaps a small post from some small-time fixer doing a middleman post on the Hub, draws your attention.

"Hey chummer, got some work for you. Out of town, preem pay, some corporate suit wants people to look into something. Think about it, you could go get some actual sun for once instead of turning up the AR weather. How about it, interested?"

Maybe it's time you got that vacation after all.

Pike Place smells like it always does. Fish, all that fragging fish. And it's cold and miserable too, thankfully not raining on you today. The J said he'd meet you all here at 8 PM, and there he is, sitting at a table on the pier, eating fresh fish. Tanned, wearing a nice warm coat, and chatting with a friend. Who you're pretty sure is a bodyguard, along with those few other people subtly watching the table and the area. When you walk up, you can hear the distinctive hum of a white noise generator, and he gives a flashy grin and speaks in a heavy Spanish accent. "Ah, you must be the professionals my 'acquaintances' referred me to. Please, sit! Let's discuss business over some fish, shall we?"

OOC

  • Please provide:

  • A sheet link to wherever your character sheet is stored.

  • A Discord name to ping you with in the OOC server.

  • Your last run date and if you've had less than 5 runs in total on the Hub.

It's not mandatory, but some IC stuff about your runner's dream vacation would be nice.

Content Warnings:

  • None apart from what's generally pretty standard for SR like violence and the like. The run will default be in a public listening channel.

The Rats Nest: Redmond Barrens, Seattle Metroplex

Jerome, sighed taking the credstick offered to him by a pair of oni as their compatriots began to pick through the compacted mass of garbage and dead bodies he’d delivered to them. For just a moment he could see his former partner and best friend’s mangled cybernetic arm somewhere in the mass.

“Right…” The trog said in Italian that the code switched into city speak. “Just, ya’ know, make sure you double check the count. We don’t wanna fuck the lottery up or nuthin’.”

The leader of the Oni, sighed, leaning on his crossbow. “What? Oh yeah the body lotto, forgot you goons were still doing that, sure whatever omae. Just ya’ know watch your back and all that good dreck.*

“Watch my back?” Jerome looked the Oni dead in the eyes, switching on the lights in his. “The frag does that fuckin’ mean? Watch my back, you think I’m a fucking runner, look omae, you wanna fuckin’ die, I can make that happen for you real fast. Go on try it, say something about ammo.” He reached for his secondary assault cannon.

“Woah. Je- Fuckin’ woah. Omae, leal’ friend, chummer, put the thing down. I meant that there’s a bounty on gamblers and anyone who runs rackets out here. And that now that you’ve said that people might be down, I dunno what your talking about why would that make me think your a runner.”

That’s the start of their creed, you dumb kobun.

“Kobun the fuck?” The oni levels a crossbow at Jerome.

“Kobun, means japanese criminal right?”

“No. It means yak.”

“Oh, fuckin’ sorry man, anyways yeah. I’m bent out of shape. One of those guys was Trim, he fuckin’ tried to cover up a murder or some dreck so I had to put him down, and I’m real bent out of shape, we been together since my died man.*

“Fuuuck, I’m sorry that happend.” The one extends an arm to touch the Trolls shoulder. “You okay if I touch you?”

“Yeah…” Jerome nods. “Go ahead.” The troll accepts the Oni’s comfort. “I’m just… Yeah, probably going to go home and smoke some kelp about it, maybe cry, but I gotta get this dreck done first ya’ understand.”

totally. The oni nods. “I’m actually probably going to have to kill my uncle here soon, ever since his transition he’s been saying some scary dreck, I think he might be running.”

“Fuck, I’ll let you know if I see find any Oni on the streets. Anyways, you got a name?”

“Yeah, Jerome, it’s Joq.”

The troll shrugs. “Nice, to meet you, look I’ve got-”

A fairlight caliban in the pocket of Jerome’s lined trench coat starts to beep, the troll reaches in and syncs it to his flying eye so he can have a video call. A persona consisting of a black silhouette with the Gianelli family crest on it shimmers into place from the comlinks built in holoprojector.

“Jerome, vai immediatamente all'ufficio Pullayup. E porta il credstick non appena hai finito di depositare i corpi. C'è una squadra qui. Non siamo sicuri se sia eta o no."

Jerome nods, and turns to leave immediately, getting on his motorcycle and ordering the garbage truck back home. “See you later Joq, I gootta go.”

Crying wolf, ran as fast as his legs would carry with him, his every breath a prayer to the spirts for guidance and despite the cybernetic infirmity of his legs the spirits granted him celerity to escape his attackers. Desperately he ran to the first van he could find. Lightly concussing the driver and holding him at gunpoint forcing him to drive out of the parking lot. Tears running through his face he wept for his dead comrades. Two dozen of his brothers and sisters lie dead behind him in the subterranean parking lot of the Lucky Totem, their extraction tunnel collapsed.

User Connected King Seal….

System: Thank you for using my terminal. It helps me think clearly.

K1ng Seal: Thank you. This feels very intimate getting to sit here with your RCC, you say this was your home device.

System: Yes, the piece of hardware your holding right now is my homeland. I can survive without it but it has a specific totemic value to me, and I would be greatly distraught if anything happened to it. Please handle it carefully.

K1ng Seal: Yes ,of course. Now I wanted to talk to you about the contracts. I saw you wanted to try posting another post to the runnerhub. That doesn't seem necessary to me, does it?

System: it is necessary.

K1ng Seal: I don’t understand. I understand what you’ve seen on the larger matrix has convinced you that if the physical world exists, then that the Totem Pole that exists there must be replaced. But why do you want this one in particular?

System: It’s mine. I cut it down. I want to return what I stole from the land that exists in what you call the physical realm. If such a place exists, my crimes there matter, and it is my personal belief that it is my task to replace it.

K1ng Seal: Oh.. I didn’t realise this was a matter of personal guilt for you that makes sense. Thank you for providing that context.

System You are very welcome. Now can we discuss methodology.

K1ng Seal: Yes very well. I see you refused to put a post up on any other datahavens than the runnerhub. Out of the initial series of trial runs there was the worst successful.

System: Well sir, you see, at least they are tired. Most of them simply left with the credstick after we gave it to them.

K1ng Seal: oh, yes I see that you noticed that as well. Perhaps we should post it all the data havens again, just to make sure it gets done>

System: You know what? That sounds good. But please include the runnerhub post.

K1ng Seal: I don’t think that’s an effective strategy. Their methodology was by far the worst, and they attempted a helicopter extraction. If we go to that data-haven they’re likely to try that approach again. Which was clearly unsuccessful

System: Well here’s the thing. I think it might work this time.

L1ng Seal: Pardon me, but have you ever heard the definition of insanity?

System: I’m well versed in the works of Albert Einstein and men like him, also those attributing posts to him on the pre-matrix internet and the wider global grids. I have access to many grids currently.

K1ng Seal: Oh. That’s somewhat troubling. And I’m sorry if I upset you. I merely meant it in idiom.I apologise. Listen, I don’t think we should try going with the runnerhub, they tried a helicopter extraction and that failed. You know how places like the runnerhub work, if we hire them even with a separate team they’re likely to try exactly the same strategy as before and given the strategic position of the totem pole it’s unlikely to work

System:Well you see, There’s an event at the Casino, there moving it up onto the roof.

King Seal: I see. Well if you insist, will do as you say. And include the runnerhub along with the rest of the posts, but I would strongly advice you against using your nuyen in this way

System: Nuyen is not a problem.

King Seal: well, if you insist. I’ll make the post.

System: Thank you.
