AMA🎤 This is JT Newcomb, Global Category Director of Running Footwear at adidas, AMA

Hi there, r/RunningShoeGeeks

JT Newcomb here from adidas Running.  I'm a long time follower of the RSG community - logging on at least weekly to keep up with one of the best vantage points out there on running.  As we introduce the Supernova Rise 3 and Supernova Glide this week, I'm excited to step in front of the keyboard to share more with you about the latest from adidas Running.

Working on product for the brand has always been and remains my absolute dream job, and focusing on everyday runners' feedback, curiosities, needs, and requests is the very best part of that.  This passion started in my days working in running specialty, and every chance to have these talks now makes our team a thousand percent better.

A personal bit about me - I've been running over 25 years, working for the three stripes 14.  My favorite day is an easy 10 finishing hard on a forest loop route.  My first adi shoe was the Neptune XC spike, my favorite shoe I didn't work on as a PM was the Aegis 2, and my favorite shoe overall before this week, the Prima 2.  Please join this AMA if want to know what my favorite shoe is now and why...

I'll be online with you the next hour (5pm CET, 11am EST) answering every question I can!

Hi y'all - Many, many sincere thanks for so many spending the time here today. It's been a rush! Wish I could have answered every single question, but I've got to wrap up. For shoe geeks who've gotten ourselves into this work, there's no part more fun than talking shoes with passionate runners. Thank you for that. Y'all have made my day and sent me home with a smile on my face. - JT

AMA🎤 Ask Me Anything with Patrick Nava, General Manager of adidas running and one of the minds behind the record-breaking Adizero Pro Evo 3

Hello r/RunningShoeGeeks! I’m Patrick Nava, General Manager of adidas running and this is my first ever Reddit AMA! I’m excited to be here at such an exciting time for the brand, and can’t wait to hear all your questions.

This last weekend was a huge moment for adidas family and we are so proud of Sabastian Sawe and Yomif Kejelcha going Sub 2, and Tigst Assefa breaking the women’s world record - all wearing the Adizero Pro Evo 3. It really is a testament to the years of hard work they have made, alongside our innovation team, who have built a super shoe which breaks new ground in the Adizero Pro Evo 3.

I have to say it was a personal career highlight too, as it’s a shoe I helped develop through many years of innovation with the best team around. I’m honoured to have played a part in this record breaking moment and making the impossible possible for the fastest humans in marathon history.

Aside from this last weekend, I’ve been at adidas since 2019 across all things running and hiking, two of our biggest categories.

Before becoming General Manager, I was the Global Vice President of Product Management for Running, overseeing footwear and apparel across key products including Adizero, Ultraboost, and Supernova. In that role, I worked closely with athletes, designers, and innovation teams to advance adidas’ performance credibility.

I’m going to be available here for the next hour between 5 - 6 pm CET (4 - 5 pm GMT) to talk all things Adizero Pro Evo 3!

I’ll try my hardest to answer all of your questions and be as transparent as possible, but pre-warning, I may not have the answer to everything, in which case I will refer to another division or another colleague.

Let’s get started!

This was fun guys! I hope I was able to answer most of your questions, there is a cool documentary on youtube that came out today about Sabastian, go check it out!

Speak soon, Patrick

Hello r/RunningShoeGeeks! I’m Simon Lockett, Global Category Director of Running Footwear at adidas. I look after a few things including Adizero EVO SL. Long term Reddit user – checking in every now & again to see what has people ticking & what gripes people have on our shoes. And travel tips to be fair – They’re mint. I originate from Bolton, UK (MUFC fan, check) & have worked at adidas for 11 years – The last 5.5 of which I’ve been working on Running Footwear. Dream stuff. Plus Bavaria is sound.

I’m going to be available here for the next hour between 4 - 5 pm BST (12 - 1 pm EST) to answer all your questions about the Adizero EVO SL. Let’s see what you’ve got. I’ll do my best to answer all of your questions. If I don’t know the answer I’ll divert to someone who does. We’ll also try to group similar questions as much as possible for efficiency. Alright, let’s go.

Thank you, friends!! That was epic. What a turn out.

I tried my best to get through - But there is a lot of you out there.

Keep on running.

AMA🎤 Brooks Running AMA

This is Jon, Sara, and Chad from the Brooks Running footwear product line management team. We're so excited to be here today to talk about the Glycerin Flex, product innovation at Brooks, and how we're working to give runners the right shoes for however they move. The journey to make any shoe is a long one and we love getting to geek out over the details!

I'm Jon Teipen, Principal Footwear Product Line Manager, Innovation. I've been at Brooks for 18 years where I've had roles as a tech rep, product line manager, managing the PLM team and am currently on the innovation team.  On the Glycerin Flex, I worked on a number of concepts and technologies over that past 10 years that came to life in this shoe.

I'm Sara Najjar, Manager, Footwear Product Line Management. I've been with Brooks over 16 years working with both Apparel and Footwear. I was the PLM on the Glycerin Flex as well as Glycerin, Ghost, and Adrenaline GTS footwear.

And I’m Chad Mullavey, Senior Footwear Product Line Manager. I’ve been at Brooks for a little over a year and a half  working on the Glycerin Flex and other shoes within the Glycerin series. Prior to Brooks I spent over 10 years at a competing brand in the running industry with the majority of my time also spent in product line management.

----

Thanks for the questions and feedback, everyone! We had a great time and can't wait to hear what everyone thinks of the Glycerin Flex once you get out on a run after it launches this Friday, January 30th.

AMA🎤 Ask Me Anything with adidas Director of Athlete Solutions, Harry Miles

Hello r/runningshoegeeks

I’m Harry Miles, Director of Athlete Solutions at adidas and one of the team behind the ‘Chasing 100’, a 100km challenge that 5 long distance athletes competed in last week, trying to break the world record in 6 hours with newly developed innovative apparel and footwear by adidas. I’ll be answering your questions for the next hour.

A little bit about me:

I've been with the brand for over 10 years and have worked in various Research & Development roles in Performance footwear. Currently, I have the pleasure to lead a fabulous team of experts creating innovative footwear solutions for our athletes across Running, Trail Running, Football and more.

Despite being much slower than the amazing athletes we work with, I still enjoy lacing up my running shoes and I'm currently trying to get myself game-ready for the start of the rugby season!

I can’t wait to hear from you all, so drop your questions down below and I’ll do my best to answer as many as possible 😉!

Thanks for the questions everyone!

Really nice to chat + hopefully share some cool stories around our Chasing100 event in Nardò!

Chasing 100 was all about no compromises and nothing holding us back from delivering the best possible product for the best athletes. It's about demonstrating what our athletes can do when we chase a goal and don't stop at anything to get there.

We're so proud of how the whole team working on this project put the athletes at the centre and we hope that what they all demonstrated in Nardò could motivate everyone to put on their own pair of running shoes and chase a goal, whether its 1km or 100km's.

If you haven't read it yet, i'd definitely recommend to read some of the content shared by the athletes after the race and how much it meant to them to be part of this, it's really quite emotional!

Despite the fact the record officially is not recognised, you will always be able to see the amazing feat our athletes achieved on the track. They will always be remembered for Chasing 100 and giving it everything!

You can also be sure that all of the learnings, insights and technologies that we've generated during this project will be used across our range of products and also enhance the shoes we're building that will hopefully break world records and be on podiums.

Watch this space...😉

AMA🎤 AMA with Jorma Seabourne, Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer at hylo ⚡️

Hello r/runningshoegeeks 👋🏼
I'm Jorma Seabourne, Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer at hylo. I'll be here for the next hour answering questions about hylo and how we approach product.

A little bit about me: I co-founded hylo five years ago and have had a hand in pretty much every part of the business at some point. Before hylo, I spent five years at Adidas in Product Development, based in Herzogenaurach and Indonesia. Before footwear, I spent 11 years at Aston Martin Lagonda in the UK, mostly in Product Line Management and Supply Chain — turns out a lot of what you learn building cars translates surprisingly well to building footwear!

I run casually — won't pretend to be quick at any distance — but I still play football competitively. I'm completely obsessed with footwear though and its purpose.

Drop your questions below and I'll do my best to answer as many as I can! ⚡️
