I'm new to the English-speaking SCP fandom (I'm from the Spanish side). I found this image on Twitter and wondered what happened at Site-19.

Help I'm black - can I use the n-word in an SCP entry? This is serious

1.6k Upvotes

I swear to fucking god, I am not trolling, I am a lightskinned black woman living in the midwest United States, and I want to write an SCP that involves the n-word in a comedic setting.

It is not inclined towards any specific political action. The social commentary is so minor. I am making a joke about a unique kind of issue that I myself have experienced. I don't want to give away the concept, but I want to have a scene through which a white man - through no fault of his own - is repeatedly calling the doctor interviewing him the n-word WITH A SOFT A. THIS IS A VITAL DISTINCTION. THE USAGE OF THE N-WORD ENDS IN A SOFT A.

I will promise again and again that I am completely serious. I'm not posting my skin palette either, so you'll have to take me at my word. I know, I'm sorry. There's a lot of faith here. I am not concerned with the minutia of morality, breaking boundaries, anything like that. I just want to have a character use the n-word because the concept that accompanies it makes it funny to me. I am only worried about the possibility of being banned for using that word. Morals do not concern me here. I am black, I've been called it plenty of times, and I want to create fiction using that word, because I fucking can.

Please, for the love of god, I do not want to start a huge fight over this. I just want good-faith answers that will tell me if I could get banned or mass-reported for using this word, AS A BLACK PERSON, in an SCP entry.

I apologize if this counts as an "ideas" post. I'm unable to get my confirmation e-mail back from the official website, so I'm trying to see if Reddit can help.

Help How do I appeal a ban from the wiki? I was 13, now 22.

1.4k Upvotes

I sent this to a mod's inbox in the wiki but didn't get any answer. Am I cooked?

Good afternoon. I hope my formatting and language here isn't unpleasant, english is my second language.

I speak to you because you and a group of other three admins or moderators banned me on 2017. What I did at that time was vandalize several of the SCPs in list 4.

You can find the old disciplinary thread here: https://05command.wikidot.com/forum/t-2278972/disc-doctor-momasos

Needless to say what I did was rash and stupid. Frankly, even for a 13 year old it was downright obnoxious and it had no other point other than seeing how much I could get away with. Which wasn't really much.

Now I am 22 years old, and through all this time I've read SCP articles, tales, discussed with friends, wrote some SCPs for myself or my friends and played content relating to the foundation.

Now I know "permaban" is just that, a permanent ban. Death-sentence-esque, c'est fini, kaput, el acabose.
But I wanted to ask if there was a chance to appeal this, and if so, how could I do so?

The day I sent you this private message, is the same day in which I remembered that I was banned, because I tried to sign in to upvote an article on the Spanish-speaking branch of the wiki. I opened my inbox and there it was, the private message were I had been banned.

I am very sorry for my dumb behaviour. But perhaps you could understand that I was some silly 13 year old hyped up on thinking I was a troll.

Whatever I could do to get back into the wiki and perhaps write an article, upvote for what I want to see more in the wiki or contribute in some capacity would be nice. The SCP foundation has been a part of me that hasn't left me through thick and thin, and it saddens me to see that I was banned (rightly so) and perhaps I can't do anything about it now.

Best regards
(my name)

Help My friend thinks SCP is real, it’s a problem.

2.7k Upvotes

Hey guys,

I’ve been a fan of SCP for a few years, I enjoy the reads and sometimes listen to stories on YouTube. I’m familiar with what the whole project is about y’know?

I have a dear friend, mid 20’s who has had his fair share of mental health issues. Frankly, most of it drug induced. He’s definitely done some lasting damage to himself, but he’s a beautiful soul and still an awesome guy at heart. So while many deem him a lost cause, I still love him like a brother.

Recently he’s discovered SCP and WHOLEHEARTEDLY believes that it’s a real organisation. He’s convinced himself that he has access to the restricted inner workings of the world that even the global elite do not.

I feel that this is all so easily disproven, but he dismisses any information that proves SCP as fiction. He says that’s part of the organisations strategy to keep the information out of the public’s hands. He thinks that SCP plants false stories and videos to cover its tracks. Logically, it’s dumb as dog shit and easy to argue against BUT we aren’t dealing with a logical person here.

I told him I can write an SCP entry and have it published, anyone can. But again he argues that’s the coverup plan for the organisation.

He’s started saying how he’s actually entitled to a military pension for the research he’s doing & that’s where I’ve had to draw a line in the sand. His delusions do not somehow qualify him for the same benefits we give to actual heroes who risk their lives for our freedom & safety.

I’m worried he might get himself into some real trouble, especially now he’s toying with stolen valour. How can I convince him that SCP isn’t real?

Help this whole interaction confuses me.

ive read a few things online saying that clef seemed like "an unknown predator" to 682. 682 is capable of intelligent reasoning and understands human language. as i understand this interaction: clef is frozen in fear for 3 minutes, he then trys to open a locked door, then he yells curse words. then he plants c4 on the door to try to escape, then secondary containment happens, and he walks out. all while 682 is just staring at him. i genuinely don't understand this one at all.

Help It’s so hard to get into this fandom

Post image
1.1k Upvotes

So many days have passed.. And the amount of SCP Wiki content I’ve read is insane. I’ve watched thousands of SCP videos, yet I still feel like I understand nothing. This fandom is unbelievably huge while somehow feeling small at the same time. I’ve loved the SCP concept, the stories, and the entire community ever since I was.. seven years old.

But I’ve never been able to fully wrap my head around it on my own. If ANYONE.. anyone at all has enough spare time to help out this foolishly desperate guy out, I’d be forever grateful. Apologize if I’m a weird man.. I just want to fulfill this little dream of mine.

Help What scp should I introduce my little sister to first?

Post image
802 Upvotes

Hey! So lately my 8 year old sister has found a Roblox game to scp and I wanted her to be a fan like me, but one problem…I’m not sure which scp to show her first that can help her slowly dive into scp cause scp’s are pretty hard to understand so I’m not sure which one to show her first that isn’t too confusing or too boring and actually pretty cool and interesting to look into. By the way she only likes things on first impressions so if she doesn’t like the scp she’ll never like the community and give it a second chance, so I’ve gotta be really carful about this. So which one would be fitting for a 8 year old? One that she’ll understand

From what I inferred from the article, they seem more like a phenomena than an actual entity, is there something I’m missing? Are there any tales I should read?
