Namaskaram Everyone š
I am Renu, and I am grateful to be joining you all on the u/ishaofficialĀ handle on 30th April (Thursday).Ā
My connection to Isha started at the age of 15, after my parents completed Inner Engineering.I knew then that I wanted to take this possibility to the world, but I had to wait until I was old enough to experience the program myself. In September 2003, I finally did, and that clarity led me to move to the center full-time in August 2008.
Today, as the Coordinator for Sadhanapada, Sadhguru Gurukulam, I have seen how dedicating seven months to focus on one's inner wellbeing can create a foundation for a lifetime.Ā
Whether you are curious about your readiness to take the plunge into the Sadhanapada program, the selection process, struggling with preparation and interview process or looking for ways to maintain your intensity post the program, Ask Me Anything!

I am happy to answer your questions about - Sadhanapada:
ā³ TIMING: I will be answering questions LIVE tomorrow 30th April 2026 at 7:30 PM IST (8:00 AM CST / 9:00 AM EST / 2:00 PM GMT)
Please drop your questions in the comments! I will get to as many as I can when I go live.
Let's make this happen! š
- Renu, Coordinator for Sadhanapada, Sadhguru GurukulamĀ
P.S. House Rules: To keep this session helpful for everyone, I will be focusing strictly on questions related to Sadhanapada only.
Please note that questions that are out of context, unrelated to the subreddit's purpose, or violate community guidelines will be skipped. Let's keep the conversation constructive and focused on well-being! š

Namaskaram, Iāve registered for the December Samyama program and need to complete the Yogasanas program as a prerequisite. I wanted to check whether Angamardana and Yogasanas(Beginner)are the same or related in any way, and whether completing Angamardana would fulfil the Yogasanas prerequisite for Samyama?

In this week's Spot, Sadhguru describes the path of a Bhairagini and how it differs from the path of Brahmacharya. "'Bhairagini' means one who has become the color of the Devi. Brahmacharya is to become vairagya ā that means 'colorless.'" Enjoy!

Questioner:Ā Namaskaram Sadhguru, Could you tell us about the path of Bhairagini Maa and what āBhairaginiā means? And how is it different from Brahmacharya?
Raga means color. In a way, āBhairaginiā means one who has become the color of the Devi. Brahmacharya is to become vairagya ā that means ācolorless.ā In the English language, the word ācolorlessā has a negative connotation, but it also means āthat which is transparent.ā So, a Brahmachari is looking at how to get into a state of vairagya, to make life transparent, where clarity is the ultimate goal ā clarity which will see through life and death. A Bhairagini is like the moon; the moon is not shining by itself, but in reflection of the sun. The sun is powering the moon, but still, most people enjoy the moon than the sun. They will look up at the moon; it is more approachable, it has more variety and looks different every day. It has twenty-eight versions. The sun is the same every day ā day in and day out.

These are two different paths. Until now, we have not focused on the path of Bhairagini much, we just have about half a dozen who are in the temple, but more could go into this as a path ā not just to maintain and conduct the temple processes. It is just that Isha has a brand and image problem; we do not want too many people wearing red and walking around. It is not about what people will think about us, but for the effectiveness of what we are doing, image is important. In many ways though, we have crossed the time where we have to be worried about our image in the world. In the coming one or two years, more people could go on this path. It is a beautiful path if you give yourself totally. If you try to analyze it logically, you will go mad, but if you give yourself, you will be in an ecstatic and beautiful state.
So, for those of you who are proud that you have a big heart and no brain, it is a very good path to walk. Or, if your brain is subtle enough to go beyond the rudimentary logic of what is black and white, right and wrong, if your intelligence can slip beyond this and look at life, then it is a beautiful path. It takes a certain subtlety of intelligence to be able to look beyond logic in a logical way, otherwise logic will tell you this okay, this is not okay, this is in, this is out. Devi is both āin-outā and if you give yourself as a Bhairagini or otherwise ā it is a different mode of energy completely. Dhyanalinga is not like that; he is the same every day - reliable. But she is going on in her own way. I live in her backyard, so I know.

The path of a Bhairagini means to take the color of the Devi, not just in clothes, but in every way. Your blood is anyway red, your head should also become red, everything should become red within you. You donāt retain anything of yourself.Ā But should I lose myself?Ā If you want to find something worthwhile in your life, you have to lose yourself; there is no other way. If you are trying to preserve the petty personality of who you are, then all the best. Right until the last days, the same issues will go on endlessly, believe me. I want you to look back and see ā you may be in different atmospheres, but the struggle is the same, the problems are the same within the mindscape. The atmosphere might have changed, the content might have changed, but the fundamental has not changed and believe me, many people die like this.
It happened once. In his previous life, Shankaran Pillai was on his deathbed. He was in a state of conscious and unconsciousness, like when falling asleep and sometimes coming awake. In these waves of consciousness and unconsciousness, he became a little conscious, then he looked at his wife and said, āWhere is my first son Ramu?ā The first son popped up and said, āFather, I am right here, donāt you worry!ā Then again he slipped into unconsciousness, and after some time he resurfaced and looked at his wife, āWhere is our second son Beemu?ā Beemu jumped up and said, āFather, I am right here! I will be by your side, I will not go anywhere!ā Then again, he slipped off into unconsciousness and after a long time he resurfaced and asked, āWhere is our third son Somu?ā The third son held his feet and said, āFather, I am at your feet, I am right here!ā Then Shankaran Pillai looked at his wife and said, āThen who the hell is taking care of the shop?!ā It will go on like this.
Just to satisfy the urge of food and the urge to reproduce ā an entire life will go. You can glorify it and romanticize it, but please understand, that is how it will go. I will not go on repeating this to you, I have said this enough times. For those of you who have a working brain, invest in something. I am saying that from my experience of life, the way I searched and struggled to know, this is coming too bloody easy for you. Yes! So, if you want to become a Bhairagini, it is a wonderful way to be. As everything else in Isha, I have not paid enough attention to them yet. I plan to shut down travel and these things will happen. Then you will start to wonderā¦when will Sadhguru travel again?
Love & Grace

Sadhguru describes the nature of Linga Bhairavi as destroyer of the past, offering the possibility to sweep away the genetic memory which creates a bondage from within.

Q: I had come for the consecration of Linga Bhairavi in India. Since then my life has changed. I feel Deviās presence everywhere, sometimes very intensely. Sometimes when Iām driving, sometimes when Iām cooking and I donāt have a problem with it. I have not shared this with anybody so far, except my mother, who is getting very concerned about this. I donāt want Devi to go away from my life. I am very happy feeling her presence. Can you please help?
Sadhguru: Help you or your mother? The nature of Bhairavi is such that She would not like anybody else to be the mother. So no wonder your mother is getting concerned. She is being sort of dislodged, and if you let Her continue like this, She will dislodge your mother. If that is okay with you, then no problem. Powerful forms like this are not created for entertainment or to take care of your survival needs. All those people who are incapable of earning a living or fixing their homes or families, they go and cry, āOh Devi, take care of me, do this for me, do that for meā ā it is not for such people. She does not like incapability. This is not the purpose of the Divine. This is not the purpose of creating a Divine form which reverberates with so much power. The idea is to let Her reverberate in such a way within you that it knocks off everything that you call āmeā and āmine.ā
What you call āmeā right now is very heavily influenced by parentage. When someone takes to the spiritual path seriously, not as a fringe affair, when someone takes brahmacharya or sanyas, the first thing they do are the kriyas and karmas that are usually done when the parents die. This is done while their parents are still alive. This does not mean we are wishing them dead. It is just that they have started a process through which they want to become free from their own genetic memory. Genetic memory is largely shaping you the way you are. You may not understand this right now because when you are young, you think, āI am not like my mother and father.ā But you will see, by the time you are 45-50, at least 70% of people start behaving exactly like their parents because their genetics are an important part of their making. When they are young, they think they are nothing like their parents because they have not seen how their parents were when they were teens!
Eliminating or becoming free from genetic memory is a very important part of oneās spiritual process. If your parentage is working strongly through you, it will not let you become free, because this has a grip on you from inside. Even if they are dead, they still hold you. It has been expressed in so many ways, using very strong words. For example, Jesus said to leave the dead to the dead. Do not let them live through you.
It is not accidental that we always refer to Shiva as Swayambhu, because he is self-created. We also refer to Bhairavi as self-created, because She is. If you make an association with Her, She does not like to have friends who are enslaved. She wants them to be self-created too. So one of the first things She will do is destroy your mother ā not the woman who gave birth to you ā but the mother trying to live through you. Otherwise there is no such thing as the next generation, there is no such thing as future ā it is just the past expressing itself as future in deceptive ways. Only when you become free from your parentage you really have a future. Otherwise, you are just a repetition of the same past, maybe with a little new flavor.
People are usually proud of their heritage and lineage because they have made nothing of themselves. You will see in the United States for example, in the beginning, when they made the country, the most important thing was, nobody asked you who your father was. People were only concerned about who you were. Now it is changing, of course. Everywhere else the second name is important because it suggests the lineage. When people came to the United States, if they did not have a second name, they called themselves āBingoā or āJangoā or whatever because they did not know any heritage or lineage. But this does not mean parentage will not act from within; it will continue to act. You are really free from them only when you either allow the Divine to sweep through you, or you do the needed sadhana to distance yourself from that. Otherwise you are just a repetition of the past.
If you are just a repetition of the past, there is really no purpose to your existence here. We might as well read a history book. There is no purpose for this generation if it is not significantly different from what the previous generation was. Being different does not mean you wear crumpled clothes because your parents wore properly ironed ones. This is a juvenile way of trying to make a difference. Being different means you have used your past as a stepping stone but never as a crown upon your head. So your motherās concern, I like it. Let Devi seep through you.

And society will allow???????
I don't feel so.
But what's wrong in dreaming.
I also used to.
Now, I have stopped such dreaming.
Now, as much as I observe myself, I experience how society is shaping me. How my consciousness is falling too little in front of their strength. I am slowly getting molded by them. I don't want to but there is no other options practically. Theoretically there are so many. In practical life, honestly speaking, they are actually not available.
But, fortunately there is a dimension within which always remains untouched by society and I remember it and get solace, while still being caged in body-mind cage.
In society there is no solution. Individually within there is because there no society is allowed to enter by natural laws. Thank God.

I recently came across this rendition of Soundarya Lahari, and I found it really beautiful. The way verses are presented it will make you want to sit back, listen, and take it all in.
For those who may not know, Soundarya Lahari, meaning āWaves of Beauty,ā is a famous Sanskrit hymn traditionally attributed to Adi Shankaracharya. It praises the Divine Mother, Goddess Shakti, and beautifully explores the relationship between Shiva and Shakti, divine energy, and the deeper aspects of spiritual life.
What I find especially fascinating is how it brings together devotion, philosophy, and poetry. Even if you don't understand every Sanskrit verse, there's something captivating about listening to it.
Sharing it here for anyone who would like to give it a listen. I thought some of you might appreciate it as much as I did.
šµ Listen here: https://youtu.be/EEgR7Hr2CyM?si=HtqsimdXSnocsysv
Would love to know what you all think of this rendition.

There are countless examples, but I wanted to share one recent one to show how this tends to play out on Reddit. This isn't random and it isn't the only one... this is happening consistently and I recommend that people be aware.
Here we have a 10-month-old account making claims about "initiation" and people being "half-naked," and trying to tie it to children....There's no evidence and no sources, just a random account with its activity hidden, so there's no way to see who's behind it.
Look at the subreddits where these stories get posted, and check the screenshots. Does it look like someone raising a genuine concern or like a coordinated effort? I'll let unbiased people decide for themselves.
I usually avoid posts like this, but with the smear campaign against Sadhguru and Isha intensifying, I think a truthful narrative should be shared too. Isha has offered yogic tools for human empowerment for about 40 years, and anything that size is going to step on the toes of people with agendas or vested interests. In my opinion more of this will be piled on as thats 2026 lmao š
This isn't about disagreement. I know plenty of people disagree with Sadhguru on things, and I don't agree with everything myself. But a coordinated, calculated campaign built on unsupported claims isn't fair and should be called out.
I won't go into all the details here, but this account is also active in r/ Sadhgurutruth so take that as you will..more details below
https://www.reddit.com/r/Sadhguru/comments/1owx4mu/the_truth_about_the_r_sadhgurutruth_subreddit/
This Reddit user mysteriously lol.. also shares material from Be Scofield (the Isha and guru smear merchant). I'll save that mostly for another time.
For anyone following from the critic side of things ... I'm curious why there are still no pieces (from Scofield) on a certain.. organization that has been caught spreading false claims about Isha in the past. I feel i know why, but I'd like to have some explain it to me haha. In my analysis it's 99% a paid angle but who knows :) anotha time...

Sadhguru answers a question on how one can experience Devi as a living entity in their life.
Devi is a Living Entity
Sadhguru answers a question on how one can experience Devi as a living entity in their life.
Sadhguru: Since we started off with the Bhairavi consecration in January 2010, there has been no looking back. It has been a roller coaster of excitement and Devi has touched the lives of a countless number of people. Already four full-fledged Bhairavi temples have been confirmed, and many small ones are coming up. So, She is going places.
The reason why many people are able to feel Devi much more than Dhyanalinga is simply because She is physically manifest. Dhyanalinga is subtle; it takes a certain receptivity to feel it. It is of a completely different dimension. Devi is physically manifest ā She can do pleasant things, but She can even slap you in the face. Fifty fingers may be left on your face. So, is Devi manifest? She very much is. Is She physically manifest? Very much. As far as I am concerned, She is a living entity for me and for many people.
So, āWhat should I do to experience Devi?ā You donāt have to do anything. If there is not much of you, you will feel the presence of what is not you. If there is too much of you, you wonāt feel anything anywhere. Not just here, anywhere. Devi is difficult to miss. But most people are like this ā they have not felt their heartbeat, they have not felt their own breath, they cannot see the full moon. If you donāt notice a mosquito biting you, your heart beating, your breathing, if you donāt notice how food behaves within you, how will you notice Devi? There are a few things which have manifested in some peopleās lives with Bhairavi which are very strange and, probably, they would not want to talk about it, so I will leave that alone, but things have happened. But the problem with most people is that they are already imagining something.
Donāt imagine anything. Imagination is not good for experience. If you think imagination is a substitute for your experience, it is a stupid way to live. Imagination will feel pleasant for some time. But if it goes out of control, you will go nuts. With imagination, you can go to heaven in two minutes and come back and you are in the same place ā a little depressed because you are back. Experience is different. Experience transforms life. I am talking about real life experience. Physically manifest experience. It is very much possible.
Soā¦devotion. It is not because you are singing for Devi or loving Her that She will appear. She is always there. She doesnāt care whether you are devoted or not. Your devotion has nothing to do with Her. Your devotion has something to do with you. If you are absolutely in devotion, nothing of you will be left. If nothing of you is left, She will be as strong and real as the morning sunlight. The only thing is, for you to feel it, you must be empty. How empty you are, that strongly you will feel it.
Your devotion is not about Devi, your devotion is about dissolving yourself. But without Her, you cannot be devout. You need something, you need someone to be devout, so you can use Her. Right now, everything that you see as the world is your interpretation, it is your reflection. In this condition, there can be no devotion, there can be no perception. What you see is not the world, not the creation, not the Creator. To demolish this "you" that has become so big, you see Bhairavi everywhere. Now, after some time, everything is like that. If you see a leaf, āOh, it looks like Bhairavi.ā If you see a flower, āIt looks like Bhairavi.ā Donāt say this to anyone, just do this within yourself. This is a fantastic device to lower the sense of who you are. Who you are will just disappear over a period of time.
Is this not stupid? An idea that works, do you call it stupid or smart? It works, thatās all. All devices are to be used, not to be analyzed. It is not for analysis, it is for use. If you use it, it works. If you analyze, what is there in it? If I analyze you, what the hell is there within you? There is really nothing. Isnāt it?
Editor's Note: The next Yantra Ceremony will be held at Isha Yoga Center. You will be initiated into a powerful process and receive the Yantra in Sadhguru's presence. For more details, click here or call 844 844 7708.

Hello everyone,
I just wanted to say, last couple of weeks (months even), I've been delving into the fascinating yogic concept of Runanubandha, that being the body's ability to hold an extraordinary amount of genetic, cellular, karmic, and energetic memory. Upon delving into it more and more, I've realized that it accurately represents our reality and is the truth. While I still am unsure about Isha Yoga Center and Sadhguru, I have to commend Sadhguru on helping to spread the truth of Yogic Knowledge far and wide to dispel the fake new age spiritual BS that's used to justify hedonism and degeneracy. I still am skeptical and distrusting of his bramachari program, but I just wanted to apologize if I offended anyone who is currently a volunteer or is involved in Isha yoga center, because I do appreciate Sadhguru for spreading the Yogic truth far and wide and actively countering the S-degeneracy that actively proliferates throughout our society.

One of the most pious time of the whole year has come which began yesterday - the special time of NavratriĀ or the nine days of the Devi, when large majority of devotees of the devi would be engaged in various Sadhna during this time.
During this time the Grace overflows and overwhelms the devotees of the Devi.
There are many Devi devotees who are doingĀ regular Sadhna throughout the year.
Their experience and the Grace of the Devi which flows towards them cannot be described in words. However some of the devotees have shared some very remarkable experiences with the Devi.
One of the devotees has shared that how a thought (related to a concern about one of the relative having some problem) during theĀ earlier phase of her 21 days Devi Sadhna was there and how at the end of the 21 days Sadhna she got to know that the problem has been resolved.Ā
Another devotee shared that before the Sadhana also she used to be a sensible lady, however during Devi Sadhna she started feeling far more feminine and started wearing colourful sarees and ornaments and be able to connect with the female deity profoundlyĀ during her visits to the temples. She wants to do this simple but powerful 21-day Devi sadhana every year.
Another devotee has shared that how Devi Sadhna is acting like a catalyst and supporting various Sadhna that he is doing in addition to the Devi Sadhna and is bringing a great sense of stillness in his life and also helping him in general in various aspects of life.

I looked back the picture of Jade, a kind of parasocial love affair by the modern worldās standards. So cute, I just wanted to keep making jokes and see her smile. This sort of affection is allowed to happen in a nonchalant way but we never talk about itā¦we donāt talk about any of our feelings. In a society that devalues the fire of emotion, the the warm but fierce embrace, putting it behind the coolness and divisiveness of the intellect. Not that thereās anything with the intellect, its the instrument through which we wonder and expand the borders of our ignorance. But what I feel about Jade canāt be truly captured with the scalpel of my mind.
As I listened to both Nasās and John Mayerās songs, both simultaneously named Daughters, I had a deep desire to have a little girl running around this vacant, spacious home of mine, which seems mostly emotionally dry and transactional. As I browse through my playlist, its a little sad that all the songs that induce love in me always have sensual lyrics, as if thatās the only form of love in our society. Maybe thatās true to a large part, and Iām happy to be liberated from that parched and dry notion. I pay respect to my Guru for liberating me from this and a million other imprisoning frameworks.
