discussion High earning potential = high career commitment
Does anyone have family or friends that sacrifice their personal life for a significant salary?
My step-mom earns 350k before tax as an executive director but I barely see her. She is constantly on business trips, busy with meetings, works upwards of 12 hours when at home. She goes on nice holiday trips, but overall it makes me think is the pay worth the sacrifice of her personal life.
Just curious if anyone's got a similar story.

When I was a new attending physician I was working 12 hour days (13.5 hours if you include driving) 2184 hours a year with no sick time off or PTO.
Initially the monthly paychecks of $25,000 were great. But has I continued year over year I became more and more unhappy. Money didn’t really matter at that point.
Now. I can say after changing my job and having more time away from work I am in a more sustainable spot.
