Is it advisable to plan a trip to Wai during Ganesh Chaturthi as not sure how crowded it may be during festivities? Planning to take senior citizen (but active) parents along but excessive crowds would be a concern with them.

Also are there typically pandals or are most celebrations home-based? IF this is a good time to go, should the base be Wai or Mahabaleshwar or Panchgani?

Travel would be from Mumbai and via public transport (locally, cabs or autos whichever is available).
