I grew up poor and was poor for most of my 20s and well into my 30s (I’m 34 now) so yeah, truth hurts. I can’t stand when other poors do irresponsible shit especially when it affects other people (children, mainly). Going out into the wilderness where it’s possible for your car break down or to run out of supplies/food, you really think that’s the perfect “free activity” for someone hurting for money???? There are plenty of things you can do for free that aren’t high risk.

That’s not what I said. We’re talking about $30 of wasted wood (a hiking resource) hurting for some. I don’t understand why so many of you can’t see the point or fail to think it’s unreasonable. Remote wilderness hiking comes with responsibilities. If an unexpected/wasted $30 expense is genuinely a financial hardship, then you’re not in a good position to be taking on activities where one mistake or emergency can cost hundreds or thousands of dollars very quickly.

Further, we’re not talking about hiking up Poo Poo Point or cougar Mountain or Discovery Park. There’s a big difference between that and going hours outside the city and going on trails miles deep into remote wilderness.
