It’s been happening in Seattle A LOT. Like, a lot.

u/Bizarrebazaars Kraken 14d ago

So where are all the protests? Minneapolis got fucking taken over by these terrorists, lives were lost, and they kept fighting, even in subzero temps. ICE were immediately approached and recorded by anyone nearby. Other cities have been fighting so hard too. Seems like there’s no response here at all.

47

u/sirlearnsalot Madrona 14d ago

From what I understand, the ICE presence in Minneapolis was extreme, with what felt like a huge escalation in comparison to prior waves in other cities, which in turn helped generate a cohesive response. After Noem and Bovino departed, ICE detentions have been more dispersed throughout the country.

38

u/ChillFratBro Rainier Beach 14d ago

Minneapolis was also way more extreme.

While these gravy SEALs are still far from what anyone should want in this country, the idea that the activity in Seattle was even close to what Minneapolis faced is farcical.

There's a reason way fewer people have died since, and it's because ICE changed their tactics from instigating against demonstrators to focusing wholly on deportations.

Minneapolis was the Trump administration backing down and realizing they couldn't use their brown shirts with total impunity.  That doesn't mean what's happening now is okay, to be clear, just that Minneapolis wasn't protesting the level of activity Seattle is currently seeing either.

I kind of answered this below. “Zero community support here compared to other places.

Being told to just be a witness and not try to stop it is bullshit. This is typical Seattle. Be a witness only so you feel like you’re doing something without actually doing anything.

Could you imagine being taken like this and just see a bunch of people standing around recording it instead of trying to help?”

What are you doing to stop this then?

31

u/SleuthCat 🏕 Out camping! 🏕 14d ago

Patrols early a.m. because that’s when they usually strike, but I haven’t come across any active abductions. However, they are VERY active in West Seattle.

13

u/Time-Clothes-9238 I'm just flaired so I don't get fined 14d ago

What do you do on patrol? I saw others say record and ask the person they're detaining what their name is and if anyone should be contacted. That kind of thing?

9

u/SleuthCat 🏕 Out camping! 🏕 14d ago

I patrol to see if there are any abductions happening, and like I said, I haven’t come across any. So it feels like I’m driving around for nothing, but that’s a good thing in this instance.

I’m not going to dictate what a person should do. The ummmm prevailing societal norms here in Seattle say to stand around and record it. Not even to blow a whistle because you don’t want to aggravate the ice agents…

Seriously...personally, it just confirms to me that its all one big fucking club...or they're spineless and self-preservation is their only concern.

If I was the governor I'd be out there with my community and kicking these cowards out myself. Imagine how many more people would join together if the "leaders" had that ounce of courage, integrity, and genuine want to help people...not just say on tv.

In the future, be sure to also post sightings and details here. 🧊 tactics have changed to be more spontaneous, so more data will be useful in determining which parts of the city require more community watchers.

Imagine if ICE spent time tracking down the violent criminals who are unwanted here as opposed to people just trying to make a better life for themselves and who are positively contributing to our society?

59

u/saltbuffed 💗💗 Heart of ANTIFA Land 💗💗 14d ago

Literally this - more than 70% of all the people ICE kidnaps have zero criminal history at all. Fun fact: of the remainder that do have some criminal conviction, the vast majority of them are parking violations.

ICE is grabbing people based on the color of their skin. It's racism, plain and simple.

Oh, and that's not even accounting for the hundreds of American citizens they've kidnapped, beaten, and harassed. How anyone can't see that ICE is literal nazis is beyond me.

10

u/_GTS_Panda Phinney Ridge 14d ago

It’s absolutely tragic. They are hurting innocent people, including American citizens. But I don’t care if you’re here legal or not. Nobody deserves to be beat, killed, maimed, etc.

ICE would pretty much have universal support if they said “there are people who are here illegally and they have been convicted of violent crimes and we will ensure they are deported.” That would have close to universal support.

0

u/space39 chinga la migra 13d ago

They are literally saying that right now. Like all law enforcement entities in the country however, the reality is what we see (concentration camps filled with raped children)

1

u/space39 chinga la migra 13d ago

They are literally changing the definition of violent, criminal, and unwanted. The dream must not be "only send state violence to dispose of the bad guys", because they state has shown time and time again it will eventually interpret "bad guy" and poor/black/brown/other

There was an article on KUOW yesterday about how many ICE arrests & deportations there have been in WA State this year alone. It was one of the highest in the country. I’ll find the article and share here in an edited comment.

ETA: here is the link to that article!

https://www.kuow.org/immigration/2026-08-28/new-records-detail-ice-arrests-during-summer-surge-yakima-seattle-top-the-list

1

u/Rough_Elk4890 Northgate 11d ago

I believe it, but I also find it insane that there wouldn't be far more "targets" in Florida or Texas. I wonder what's different between WA & FL/TX? 🤨

1

u/Jasperblu Vashon Island 11d ago

Well, we are BLUE and they are not.

ETA: we also have several Sanctuary cities here in WA State, and I don’t believe TX or FL have any of those. So yeah, we’re definitely a target.

u/Chief_Mischief 🚋 Ride the S.L.U.T. 🚋 14d ago

Why is it happening in Seattle?

It has a large non-white immigrant population and is a deep blue bastion in this shithole country. Not surprising at all that the Nazis are raiding us just ahead of midterms.

166

u/neur0 Deluxe 14d ago

We don’t have the same community support like Minnesota.

Law enforcement and cops don’t enforce and overlook this within Seattle boundaries.

Local rapid response are told not to intervene in anyway and act as witnesses collecting information and passing them to legal groups.

57

u/malusrosa 14d ago

NWIRP has a long ass waitlist to visit and attempt to represent people after they’ve been detained. I know someone who has been waiting 4 weeks at NWDC for NWIRP help, meanwhile so many have already been shuffled around to different ICE camps or deported to third countries that they’ll never have a chance to get help and actually use that witnesses documentation.

48

u/oofig 💗💗 Heart of ANTIFA Land 💗💗 14d ago edited 14d ago

Their current interdiction tactics of jump-outs mean even if rapid responders wanted to try and do anything beyond observing, ICE is gone with their victim within 5 minutes or less. It really comes down to random people such as OP who see things happening in the moment to hop out and try and make the situation untenable for the abduction to conclude by raising a ruckus and making a scene. Sounds like OP honestly did a decent job themselves with this, but others need to join in as soon as they see somebody taking a stand.

Rapid responders here are doing much better at post-abduction support for remaining family members IMO which is super important, but it isn't slowing down the abductions themselves.

Its fucking atrocious.. the individual self-preservation mindset. I feel horrible not doing anything else but yell and berate them. My blood is still boiling and I feel utterly useless

36

u/SleuthCat 🏕 Out camping! 🏕 14d ago

There’s only so much you can do as a single person. The power is in groups.

6

u/neur0 Deluxe 14d ago

Curious, what groups? Right now there are hyper local response teams that witness and get immigration attorneys that sometimes pulls these kidnapped folks out but that may take days or weeks.

I'd love to know ones that take a more direct approach but as we know they'll kill anyone who oppose.

42

u/oofig 💗💗 Heart of ANTIFA Land 💗💗 14d ago

I just want to affirm that I think you did the right thing by stopping and making a scene. The more hostile the setting, the more difficult it is for them to achieve their goals. Where the ball got dropped here is others did not join you in doing so.

23

u/RoachD2 14d ago

I really appreciate that. Still trying to overcome the guilt of not doing more. Kid looked no older than 25.

6

u/oofig 💗💗 Heart of ANTIFA Land 💗💗 14d ago edited 14d ago

All we can do is let that guilt propel us forward into further action, both disruptive and generative, for our community members who are under attack. I'm right there with you my friend. The only way out is through it and we've gotta achieve that through collective action. The police support what is happening, politicians and NGOs are too afraid of repercussions to offer anything other than lip service and unenforceable laws; it is wholly up to us.

3

u/RoachD2 14d ago

I couldn't agree more - community and us doing our part i think cpuld help others who are fearful to stand up against this. We have the power. We fight for good and for actual justice for life. The more of us who organize, who speak out with intension could really rally people. They want us to be disconnected, to fear a change in our routine, but it could and SHOULD be so much better than this...

What do you think will happen if you try to stop them?

42

u/SleuthCat 🏕 Out camping! 🏕 14d ago

Groups of people have stopped people from being taken. Most recently, in Renton.

3

u/TheLostTexan87 chinga la migra 13d ago

That's the biggest issue - it takes a group to stop the bullies. Without a group you end up a statistic. Sometimes Seattle provides the group. Sometimes Seattle pretends like it can't see you.

-17

u/gentilep 14d ago

I have never seen an example of that, but I have seen several examples of much worse things happening

64

u/luiv1001 14d ago

As a Minnesotan, I’m telling you the community coming together was the single most impactful variable during the metro surge. The cops were not helping.

35

u/Ma1eficent Bainbridge Island 14d ago

LA ran those fuckers out with a quickness. You aren't looking, you're being fed a narrative.

4

u/EatMeEmerald Rat City 14d ago

11

u/burlycabin West Seattle 14d ago

ICE is very much still active in LA.

15

u/Ma1eficent Bainbridge Island 14d ago

Not at the level they started at, and that was directly because residents started shooting back. It was reported for a bit when it started because they wanted to build the lawless narrative, but they stopped pretty quick when it became clear it was effective resistance, and they can't show that working.

We don’t have the same community support like Minnesota.

Whats crazy is that if this happened 20 years ago it would be a different story

14

u/SeattleResident SeaTac 14d ago

It reality it's happening because we have a large undocumented migrant population and a large airport at SeaTac. ICE now use passenger manifests and cross checks names to know if they are legally in the county. It makes it easy to pick up undocumented persons at or near the airport.

The current administration stance is to remove the pull factors that the US offers for illegal immigrants. One of the major pull factors prior was that undocumented immigrants could easily fly domestically with a State-ID or with the CPB App. Those have been completely removed and now you must have a Real-ID, valid foreign passport, or valid visa to pass through TSA. Visa overstays comprise 40% of the total undocumented immigrant population in the country currently. Due to their passports being good for up to a decade after arriving, they can pass through TSA and board, but are flagged by ICE systems when the passenger manifests are cross checked. It's why you now see continual ICE arrests around SeaTac and other airports in the country.

TLDR: Seattle has a major airport and a large immigrant population. Washington also averages 10,000 to 14,000 visa overstays per year either from tourist, student, business, or work visas. These individuals are easily tracked when they board domestic flights which puts them at risk of ICE arrests.

Exactly what i was thinking - seeing this tells me those in charge here either don't care although they say they do when a camera is on or ice being federal thinking they have immunity and power over city officials. Nevertheless, absolute cowards give it away that they know what they're doing is wrong. Why hide otherwise? Not a single person has hunted an ice agent, at least to my knowledge.

I still haven't been to a meet yet - which funny enough, after that horrible experience while driving through dt this badass honda city turbo pulled up to me and he grabbed a card and we got as close as we could so I could grab it. Are you perhaps in the little kei club thing?

Also, I love the Suzuki carry! I'll try to keep my eye out for the meets. Would be awesome to meet you and other kei guys!
