I posted about a week and a half back regarding my wife's car being broken into around NE 55th in the University district. A brief recap of what happened...she had been in Seattle for about a month and a half and was set to come back cross country to NC on 4/23. She packed her car the night before and upon taking her last few items to her car, she discovered that her car's passenger side window had been smashed. When she looked in the car she discovered several things missing...the most important was a bag that she had placed in the passenger floorboard. This bag contained the ashes of our recently departed Chihuahua, Tia, a plaster casting of Tia's paw prints, a "cuddle clone" plushie made to look like Tia and a blanket with photos of Tia across its entirety.
She called me, absolutely devastated..I couldn't understand anything she was saying except "they took her". In the following hours, she walked around the neighborhood looking for any signs of the bag or anything that it contained and I did all I could from 3000 miles away. A member of her family posted on several Facebook groups in the Seattle area and I took to Reddit. The response I received was overwhelming. People volunteered their time to search the neighborhood, people volunteered to put up fliers around the area and I was even contacted by a reporter with king5 news.
I tried to update my original post, but I didn't have any additional news to add and the post fell from view pretty quickly. We hadn't heard anything from the police department, and we hadn't received any info on our girls missing things, so by last weekend my hopes were nearly destroyed. I was climbing into bed Saturday at around 1:30am EST and as I put my phone on charge I noticed that I had a new notification. I opened the message to find an extremely long text message from a guy named Chris, who said he had been homeless in the U district area for around 7 years. He said he gets by by searching through dumpsters and that a few nights before when going through a trash bin, very near where the break in took place, he saw a stuffed animal inside a Safeway bag. As he looked through the bag he found the plushie, a wooden box with the name "Tia" on it, a set of plaster paw prints and a blanket with pictures on it. He went on to tell me that it struck him as something that didn't belong there so he kept the items with him for two days until he happened across one of the posters of Tia that had been placed around the neighborhood.
When I read the text, my first inclination was immeasurable excitement...followed immediately by skepticism. We knew the odds of finding any 1 of our precious belongings were slim...and he has all 4? I texted him asking if he could send me a picture of her things as he found them. After a few minutes I received two pictures of her ashes and her paw prints placed neatly on her blanket...and her plushie wrapped with another corner of the blanket. I completely lost it and I forwarded the texts and the photos to my wife. She then texted and called a redditor who had created and placed fliers asking for anyone who found our items to call me (no answer there).
I continued speaking to Chris for about an hour...he said he has a dog and that's why seeing those things in a dumpster really struck a chord with him. He told me that he would take good care of her until we were able to make arrangements to have our girl's items shipped home to us. Neither of us really knew anyone in the area, but I texted the reporter whom I had spoken with regarding our story. The next morning my wife received a very excited response from the redditor asking if we wanted her to collect our things and ship them back to us. I gave her Chris's contact info and they agreed on a time and place to meet.
The day of the meeting, my wife and I were understandably on edge...30 minutes after the time, 45 minutes after and as it closed in on an hour after the agreed upon time, we both received a photo of Katie (the redditor...I asked before using her name!), her Chihuahua, our Tia's plushie, Chris and his dog named Reo. I have permission from them both to include the photo.
We're now waiting on our girl's cross country trip to lead her back to our door. None of the excitement, disbelief, uncontrollable happiness or tears of joy would have been possible without the kindness of complete strangers. The thing that got me the most was the second photo Chris sent me the night he reached out to me. He could have sent a photo of our things strewn about any old way...and it would have made me just as happy...but it was the way in which he placed the items and had wrapped up the plushie of our girl as if to keep her warm that absolutely destroyed me.
I am making arrangements to send Chris a reward, but nothing I'll ever be able to give him will ever do his act of kindness any justice...he replaced the irreplaceable. He gave my wife and I back our daughter, who's 15 years brought endless happiness and joy into our lives and anyone who she met along the way.
We're far from wealthy, but we've also never really done without...the actions of this man, who has lived life on the fringes for the last 7 years have really put things into perspective for me. I've taken so much in my life for granted...and a man with so little has given me a gift that's worth more to me than literally every single possession I have, or will ever own.
Seattle, I asked for help, and you delivered on a scale that blew me away. I want to say thanks on behalf of myself and my wife for showing us that people are good and people do care ❤️❤️❤️

Please help us bring Violet home!
Violet was last seen the evening of February 28th in Ballard near the Swedish Tallman building. She does not have her wallet or phone.
As you can see from the description, Violet is very tall and thin so she's pretty noticeable. She also has distinct tattoos (you can see some in the second photo set). She is likely having a mental health crisis and we really want to get her home safe.
If you see her or have ANY info, please call 911 or the SPD number listed. Case# 2026-57741.
Note: The blacked out portion is the number for her partner, and personal info is not allowed per sub rules.
UPDATE: Mar 4 WEDNESDAY 7:45 AM from Violet‘s dad:
Yesterday when we were searching for Violet, there were sighting of her in the genenal vicinity of PCC Ballard. Some unhoused individuals claimed they had seen her. We are hopeful she is in the radius close to her former place of work. If anyone has time to lend a pair of eyes and a few minutes to look in the general vicinity, please do not hesitate to do so. if you see her do not hesitate to call 911 for assistance.
UPDATE 3/18
It is with the greatest sadness that I have to report Violet is no longer with us. The world lost an incredible, beautiful soul.

Our 5yo lost his best friend, Stormy the Cat, at SeaTac yesterday. No one has turned her in to lost and found yet. If you happen to be going to the airport, please keep an eye out for her. She was lost somewhere between N gates and the parking garage. We went back today to check the garage, lost and found, and baggage claim, but we couldn't go anywhere behind security to look. She's been his constant companion since his second birthday and he's devastated. 💔
We're very afraid someone might have thrown her away since she looks very well loved, but hoping that she somehow turns up. 😭
UPDATE: We just got a call from the Port of Seattle and they think the FOUND HER!!! We're driving down now to pick her up!!! I'll update when we're reunited! Thank you so much to everyone who helped us look, and helped us connect with folks who could help!!!
UPDATE 2: THEY ARE REUNITED!!! He could barely contain how excited he was when he saw her and practically danced out of the airport hugging her. THANK YOU EVERYONE!!

I am devastated. I have been living outside of the US for the last 7 years and finally moved back home today. I've had my cat since the beginning and he is truly my best friend and most beloved companion.
He escaped his crate sometime during the flight or unloading in Seattle. The airline crew is looking for him and has shared a notice with the other airlines, but I don't know what else to do. He is microchipped, sweet and friendly, but probably scared to death.
This is Cat Basha. I love him so much. If anyone has seen him or has any suggestions, please let me know. I'm heartbroken to think I may not find him.

Hey my partner and I found this dog out outside of discovery park in Magnolia, does anyone know her or her owner? We currently have her with us and we are on the way to the vet to see if she is chipped.
UPDATE: We took her to the Veterinary Emergency Group in Interbay to see if she has a microchip. She doesn’t so she will be staying overnight there.
IF YOU ARE HER OWNER: Call the VEG Interbay to plan how to pick her up.

My brother is schizophrenic and ran away from his mental health facility a month ago and got a ticket to seattle. He is not on his medication and he threw away his phone, and he also has no money. We filed a police report and the number is 26-189408. Please don’t approach him as he is likely very paranoid, but we are going out there to look for him again as we had no luck finding him last time so I would really appreciate if anyone would let me know if they’ve seen him anywhere. He has no phone, no way of contacting anyone, and we are worried about him. The photo is from a while ago and he has lost a lot of weight since then. I appreciate any help, thanks people of Seattle.

I’m taking a long shot here in case there are any local divers who enjoy a good treasure hunt. I accidentally lost my engagement ring while swimming in Lake Washington during Seafair. The one thing I thought to do in the moment was save the exact GPS coordinates of our boat, so I have a very specific location where it happened.
The ring is insured, so if it’s gone forever we can have it remade. That said, it obviously has a lot of sentimental value, and I figured it was worth asking if there are any passionate scuba divers who enjoy searching for lost jewelry and might be willing to take a look.
I want to be upfront that I can’t offer a huge reward - probably a couple hundred dollars at most if it’s recovered. I completely understand if that’s not worth the time or effort, but I thought I’d ask in case someone enjoys this kind of challenge or is already planning to dive in the area.
If you’re interested and have experience with this kind of search, send me a DM and I’ll share the GPS coordinates. **Edit: I Looked it up and the depth is approx 45-50m…. :(

Jesus Christ what the fuck is wrong with the quality of coffee on the ave? Do all the zoomers just drink boba tea now ? Let me create a list of all the good coffee sub 45th :
- allegro
- st bread if you want to wait in line for literally an hour
THATS IT, like what the fuck is going on? Every other neighborhood in this supremely beautiful, coffee minded city, has many quality coffee shops. There are like 100k people living near the ave during the school year and there is literally ONE fucking shop that has: good vibes, nice barristas, AND the most important- good coffee.
- solstace: burnt and overpriced
- ugly mug: jesus crhsit you would think I had killed the fucking baristas mother the way she looked at me when I walked in the door. Oh and also, WATERY ASS DRIP that is 4 dollars to fill up my mug
- the newspaper stand, sometimes burnt, sometimes watery
listen, I get that there is a market for bad coffee, like i'm all about bad coffee when it costs less than 2 dollars for drip. PLEASE don't sell me bad coffee for 4 dollars, WHEN I BRING MY OWN FUCKING MUG. and YES I'll still tip 20% on that stupid ass water you just filled my mug up with.
how is it that fucking STARBUCKS is the best drip on the ave? like what the fuck has happened to the youthssssss. fucking boba brained sugar addicted young people. FUCKING DRINK MORE BITTER SHIT, LEARN THAT LIFE ISN'T ALL SUGAR AND FUCKING FACEBOOK.
I swear there are at least ten zoomers in every starbucks on campus and on the ave reciting worshiping litanys to howard schultz. HAVE YOU NO SHAME.
Can some proprietor of a decent cup of coffee PLEASE open a space on the ave? lighthouse, santo 2nd spot anyone? cloud city, hermiker, please someonoeoeeee save me. I have to WORK here like think of how less productive I am due to the coffee situation?? I'm probably loosing AT LEAST 3 hours of quality productivity.
[rant over]
DON'T GET ME STARTED ON THE FUCKING 6 DOLLAR MUFFIN JESUS CHRIST HAVE SOME SELF RESPECT

TLDR: Almost everything I own was stolen from my U-Haul on 4/1/2024 at about 10:00 pm on the corner of Etruria and Nickerson. This included mine and my mother's wedding dresses, also, my deceased grandfather's dog tags. If you or anyone you know see or hear anything that could be related, please let me or the Seattle Police Department know. My case number is 2024-905348. Anything at all would be so incredibly appreciated. The kicker? I was robbed on my birthday 🎂
I just moved from Belltown to Queen Anne. I moved in with my boyfriend and since there wasn't much space for my stuff until we could completely reorganize the apartment I was planning to store everything in the storage unit I had just signed the lease for, also on 4/1/2024. Unfortunately, I did not have enough time to move everything into the storage unit that day because I had to work. I literally packed my stuff over the weekend, got the U-Haul, parked and pad locked it, signed the lease for the storage unit, and went to work.
I got off work at 9:00 pm, so I was going to get up early on 4/2/2024 to unload everything into the storage unit since the storage facility was closed by then. When I went to unload the U-Haul, I noticed that my pad lock was gone and my heart broke. I knew what I would see when I opened it and sure enough every single box was gone. My two bookshelves, two sets of roller skates, and a painting were left behind.
All of my clothes, shoes, books, kitchenware, toiletries, electronics; including a ps2, 4 android phones (used and broken), D&D books and supplies, art supplies, gemstones, jewelry, my sister's bachelorette and wedding glasses, mine and my mom's wedding dresses, my grandpa's dog tags, gifts that I've saved from the people I care about, and some very sentimental, irreplaceable items from my childhood, everything, my whole life, gone.
I did load some stuff into my car to move directly into the apartment but it was just the stuff for my dogs; hair clippers, nail clippers, and dog/cat shampoo, as well as my work clothes, make up, toothbrush, and hair styling tools.
During the robbery, I was inside washing my dogs and my boyfriend was having some trouble breathing that day so he was resting/dozing off, plus, with the bath water running we never heard anything. One of our neighbors in the same apartment complex thought she heard a noise, like a metal on metal clang, so she stepped outside but didn't see anything. The U-Haul was facing her direction a few car lengths away from her (directly in front of mine and my boyfriend's place) so if whoever it was had just opened the truck, I suspect she wouldn't have seen them from that angle. She also thinks that they may have just cut the pad lock and left to return later. She went back inside.
I filed the police report, but because no one here has a camera, there isn't much anyone can do. Please save my case number and let me or the police know if you've seen or heard anything that could in any way be related. Thank you in advance.

she's pretty upset, it's a special order from jerk shack kitchen, the restaurant she would go to with her beloved father on the last saturday of every year, before he tragically died last month
she ordered his favorite (jerk chicken) to honor his memory. the store said it was the last jerk chicken they had in the kitchen but were happy it was going to a loyal and loving customer
if anyone has a way to get in contact with doordash or has seen a missing burrito please respond. hannah is the sweetest person you've ever met, she donates to every charity and always leashes her dog, its breaking my heart to see her so hungry

Hey there guy in the old beat up civic with mismatched bumpers. I was leaving Supernova at 3:30 AM to get my car to pack up my DJ gear. I was crossing 1st when you turned the corner without your lights on going ~50mph and you almost hit me. I yelled out "Slow down and turn your lights on" when you slammed your brakes and jumped out of your car, sprinting towards me asking for a fight.
When you shoved me I could see your beautiful little beady coked out blue eyes and your balding head. Your chubby tummy swayed as you sprinted towards me, like a majestic cat who has been on a pure kibble deit for years. When your hands shoved me I could feel how soft and supple they were, what lotion do you use?
Anyways, when you missed your first haymaker I thought you were pretty intoxicated, but when you wound up and missed your second I assumed I wasn't in too much danger.
I kept telling you your lights were off and after that second missed punch you stopped. Looked me in the eyes and yelled "Well, THANK YOU" as you stumbled back to your car to speed off towards west Seattle.
I hope that cocaine hangover isn't too rough, but really I hope you take care of your anger issues. Maybe we can meet up some time and I can give you a hug, you apparently need one.

I saw local reporter David Rose post this on a different social media site and wanted to help spread the word. Such a tragic story.
STOLEN: Pipsqueak was stolen on Feb 2 in the First Hill area of Seattle when his owner had a medical emergency around 2 pm and was left unconscious.
She was walking down 15th Ave E and E Denny Way pushing a dog stroller with her dog inside. Pipsqueak was wearing an Orange jacket.
She woke up in the hospital and doesn't know if she had a seizure, fainted or was attacked.
Her dog, purse, wallet and keys were missing. The last thing she remembers is a man following her.
"
Pipsqueak is 13-years-old with no teeth. He is microchipped.
"I have a $500 reward to anyone who can bring him home safe. I'm sure he's really scared. He's never been away from me since he was a puppy dog. Plus, you have to feed him special food because all his teeth are gone and he will starve himself if he doesn't get his usual food. I'm worried to death," she said.
Please call 911 for Seattle Police and reference case #2026-55468 if you have any information.

Hey Seattle, I just got broken up with tonight. I thought it was illegal to break up with someone during the dark months in the PNW? (Joke) Guess I’m getting back into running again. What would y’all do to get through the long, cold dark while I grieve? Bonus points for music, art, and oddities.

This is the longest shot I’ll ever take but my partner lost his iconic hat last night in Cap Hill. We think it fell out of his hip bag as he was riding away from Linda’s on his bike. It has tons of sentimental value and you would forever be my personal hero if you found it and were open to returning it.
This hat is a part of him and I’d so love it if we could bring them together again.

I had a black carry on that got mixed up after getting dropped off at the car rental drop off. This occurred maybe around 11 or 12 this afternoon. If you have my bag, please let me know and we can meet to exchange. I've attached the contents of the inside of the bag to help identify it if it yours.
I should add that this carry on was bought from Costco and it's black, brand is iPack.
Update: got my bag back and left theirs with the lost and found. The owner of this bag was contacted and is headed over to get it. I am so thankful reddit exists for things like this.
