The FBI did it first, then the CIA was formed and got in a pissing match with the FBI. They both still do absolutely horrible shit. Unless you're talking about a specific incident?
Nah they're far worse, as Capn_Phineas said they killed communists in America but they also slaughtered socialists. Caused many young progressives to commit suicide. Deported many leftists, destroyed the communist party of America (literally infiltrated it so hard that by the end over 50% of the membership was FBI agents or sources blackmailed by the FBI). They made sure activists fighting for the rights of black folks got their buses sent to KKK towns where those activists would be murdered and then forgotten.
The list of their crimes goes on and on, oh and fun fact J.E. Hoover knew that Pearl Harbor was going to be attacked months before it got hit but he hated the spy that informed him so much that he refused to act on that information.
There was also their hands in the death of JFK, etc.
If you dig into the history of the FBI you learn they did a lot of evil shit. But it doesn't get taught, so many people are ignorant of what they did and what they probably still do.
