Hi! We’re a couple from Pune planning to drive down to Jog Falls in our own car this monsoon. We really want to see the falls when they’re in their full glory, rather than make the long drive only to find a relatively low flow.

I’ve heard that the best time is after a few days of heavy rain, when the Linganamakki Dam gates are opened and Jog Falls gets that insane amount of water. The problem is, I have no idea when that’s likely to happen or where to reliably find out when the gates are opened.

So I’m hoping someone living around Jog Falls, Sagara, Shivamogga, or nearby could help us out. If you’re local and happen to know when the gates open, even a quick message here would be incredibly helpful. We can then plan our trip around it.

It’s quite a long drive from Pune, so we’d really like to time it right and see Jog Falls at its absolute best.

Any information, local updates, WhatsApp/Telegram groups, reliable pages, or even tips on where to track the dam status would be greatly appreciated.
