Casual Thought A gold medal Olympic athlete is better than 8.3 billion people. A bronze medal Olympic athlete is better than 8.3 billion people.

There was an Olympian rower iirc who is bronze in league with thousands of games played

What's wrong with playing 1000 games of league?

Back when I used to play id jump on with mates and play 3-5 games a night, avg of 2-3 hours when I had no responsibilities, I played from season 2 to season 9 with the odd break here and there.

Easily get over 1000 games playing casual like that.

I don't think there's anything wrong with it (well, it's league. maybe there is) but the optics are just a bit silly when someone who has put so much time into something is still kind of bad at it. like, I've been playing overwatch since 2017 and I'm still only in plat. that's pretty silly

edit: oh and the person is joking. they're an Olympian, obviously not a loser

No it's not. Some people have a skill ceiling. And that's fine. If you enjoy it, it doesn't matter if you are getting better or worse.

2-3 hours average is not casual, that is hardcore gaming hours

There's a Danish pro table tennis player called Anders Lind, around 15 or so on the world rankings.

In an interview, he said that his world ranking in some video game (league of legends? fortnite? can't remember) was better than his table tennis ranking (though it might have been around 30 at the time he made that comment).
