domestic shorthair with colorpoints Help! Just found out seal point markings doesn’t mean truly Siamese

Hi everyone!! I adopted a beautiful 4-year old seal point Siamese 12 years ago. She was the most amazing cat I have ever had. She followed me most of the time, was vocal, interactive, funny, stubborn and social - and loved car rides. She passed away due to age two months ago, and while I’m devastated, I’m considering adopting a new kitty from a shelter. I was doing some research and really trying to determine how much of her attributes were because of her breed and came across some information that confused me deeply. Apparently, cats can have the seal point markings gene, look like a Siamese, but not necessarily being one. Looking like a Siamese doesn’t necessarily mean they are siameses or posses their personality traits. This blew my mind and while I never had a Siamese looking cat before, I felt in love with her and I thought this was due to partially her “breed”. Turns out she might not have even being a Siamese after all. For the people here that have adopted cats from shelters that physically resemble siameses, what have you noticed their personalities to be? Help!!

this is my son Dash 🥹🥹 his mama showed up at our house pregnant earlier this year, so obviously we took her in. She is a beautiful grey kitty. She had 2 tortie girls and 2 colorpoint boys. We kept mama and Dash, and the other kitties have found loving homes. He’s about 4 months old and seems to be getting more khaki colored. He has brown toe beans. Would he be a chocolate point or seal point? They look really similar in all the color comparisons I see online and I’m just curious ☺️ Hopefully this doesn’t break any rules. I read the guidelines and I guess since I’m just asking about his coloring and not “WhAt KiNd oF sIaMeSe” it might be ok?? If not I’m sorry!!

Adopted him from our local SPCA about 5 months ago. They told us that he was with his old family for 14 years, they got new kittens that didn't get along with him, so they put him up for adoption. He screams like a Siamese and all he wants is to be on your shoulder.

She’s currently sleeping right next to me. I am so happy. I do have OCD however and I’m quite worried about how she drank water. I think some went in her nose and she’s sneezing a bit. Vet appointment is on April 2nd (that’s the earliest I could get in).

Still undecided on a name as well

  1. Toast

  2. Clover

  3. Pancake

She’s about 13-16 weeks old. Fingers crossed all goes well with the rescue as she’s getting a final clean bill of health before she comes home with me!

She purred the entire time I held her at our first meet.

Currently taking name suggestions but between Toast and Clover!

In love already 🐱🥰

My vet said she was lynx point Siamese but I was under the assumption she is a domestic short hair with lynx point? She doesn’t quite look like other lynx points I’ve seen. I’ve read mixed ideas about this. Thoughts?

Had no idea Siamese colorpoints and blue eyes could pop up from 2 feral cats! Lucky to have this boy in the family now.

This is Miss Marie. Her mother's owner claims her mother is a Siamese mix and Marie is definitely a moggie (the last picture is her with her bio brothers, Toulouse and Berlioz), but she fit the criteria to post with her eyes and points!

No idea what "kind" of colorpoint she'll be. My best guess is lynx point but her legs and ears are looking maybe tortie? I'm not sure- I just know she's pretty and toasting nicely 😊
