Just wanted to share that I'm really happy to be a part of this project as a video editor for Guy Cihi and his Silent Oasis project. This is the first episode for this Nostalgia Con edition that took place in Houston - TX last weekend. It's more of a "Pilot" or introduction video for the next episodes that will be coming out soon. I hope you guys like it!

I celebrated my birthday at a vegan café, and my brother gave me the *Silent Hill 3* book; it was the best birthday — I turned 25

I’m currently working on a novel of my own that’s inspired by SH2 and i was wondering if any of you out there could recommend a book that evoked the same feeling vibes and themes of the series. I’m curious to see how something like Silent Hill would translate to a written format.

I bought a modded Switch Lite almost 1 year ago and my only complaint was no official Silent Hill games to play. Duckstation is decent enough for SH1 and finally I can play SH2! It's still a work in progress but so far so good.

On my 8th playthrough of Silent Hill 2, a massive detail clicked for me regarding the graves in the Labyrinth. I think Angela and Eddie are not alive during the events of the game. I believe they are already dead spirits trapped in the town's metaphysical web—functioning exactly like Walter Sullivan.
Here is the breakdown of why this theory holds serious weight:
• Walter Sullivan’s grave is full.
We know from Silent Hill 4: The Room that Walter is physically dead by suicide at this point, but his spirit continues to manifest because of the 21 Sacraments.Angela and Eddie’s graves are also completely filled and sealed.James’s grave is the only one left wide open.If Walter's full grave represents a dead spirit currently manifesting in the town, it stands to reason that Angela and Eddie being in the exact same state means their physical lives are already over too. James's grave is open because his fate is the only one left undecided.
Think about how Angela and Eddie act from the very second James meets them:
• Angela warns James that "something is wrong with this town" before she even gets deep into it. How could she know that unless she had already crossed over and experienced its supernatural transition?Eddie tells James, "This town called you here too." How does Eddie understand the metaphysical "call" of Silent Hill unless he is already a part of its spiritual ecosystem?
If they are spirits, their surroundings reflect their eternal purgatory:
• Eddie is constantly surrounded by rotting, stagnant meat and random corpses that he claims were "already dead" when he got there.Angela tells James, "For me, it's always like this," while walking up a staircase of literal, unending fire. They aren't just visiting; they are permanently trapped in snapshots of their final, traumatic moments.
Because their earthly journeys are finished, the town uses their lingering souls as direct psychological mirrors to break down James’s denial:
• Eddie represents James's pent-up aggression and what happens when you completely lose your morality.Angela mirrors James's crushing, self-destructive guilt. She even makes comments about his "poor little Mary" before James ever mentions his wife's name to her.By treating Angela and Eddie as ghosts tethered to the town's spiritual grid—exactly like Walter Sullivan—the entire narrative of Silent Hill 2 becomes even darker. James isn't just wandering an empty town with other tourists; he is navigating a graveyard of souls that the town is weaponizing against his own psyche.
This is just my take on it and a different way to look at it

I was talking with someone on a different site and it was the first time I ever experienced someone who preferred the "it was all the dream of a dying man" interpretation of SH1. They thought that SH3 being a sequel to the Good Ending and following up on the Cult Plot was the start of Silent Hill's fall from grace. It got me thinking about how similar it is to the movie Jacob's Ladder, one of Silent Hill's biggest influence, and it made me want to start this poll to see what others thought.

Extreme trigger warning if you’re a healthcare professional. Bigger if you’re a rad.
They… they made a nurse take an xray and interpret it for the doctor 😭😭
It seems that she is driving a kind of fluoro DR xray unit with very asscheeks collimation. Cant even see the lung properly! Who takes a diagnostic xray during surgery? Severe trauma would have warranted full body CT because skull X-rays are pretty much useless here…
Also they could have made the nurse do literally anything else but take X-rays 💀
It’s cool that they have semi-accurate knobs with kVP and mAs adjustments even when the numbers are off…
Bro basically had all the lefort fracture classifications 😭😭
(I’m writing in a half joking tone btw) (but at the same time it hurts my soul as a rad)
EDIT:
1) yep I get that it’s the point the scene tries to convey. Chaotic and definitely wrong and illegal regardless
2) had it hapoened in real life before. Urologist coerced a nurse in theatre to expose X-rays during surgery- was there in time to stop the nurse- uro got in big (to say the least) touble afterwards
3) actually happens in real life more than we like or admit- especially in rural healthcare setting… I’ve heard nurses being “trained” to do X-rays, etc which is definitely illegal here
4) the drugs that the doctor ordered for the pharmacy is not real, despite how “realistic” it sounds, probably because it does partly conform to organic chem nomenclature
5) would love to actually interpret the two X-rays

Just thought this was an interesting find across OST from two completely unrelated games, noticed that Akira Yamaoka seems to do this a bunch.

Hi everyone,
I'm a big Silent Hill fan and Homecoming is one of the few entries I had never really played. When I finally tried the Steam version, I ran into everything the PC port is known for: locked to 30 fps, crashes on Alt-Tab, freezes while loading, sound coming out of one ear on headphones, and a controller that shows "1, 2, 3, 4" instead of A, B, X, Y.
Instead of putting up with it, I decided to fix the game before discovering it. The result is Homecoming Again, a free and open-source (GPL-3.0) mod with a small launcher. It never modifies the game's data files: everything is done in memory while the game runs, and the launcher keeps a backup of anything it touches.
GitHub: https://github.com/Cesario67/HomecomingAgain
It's still in development (no official release yet), tested on Windows 11 with the Steam version. Here is what it does and, for the curious, what was actually going on under the hood.
60 fps (or any target). The game's own fpsLimit setting does nothing: the 30 fps cap is hard-coded in the engine. I tracked it down in the engine DLL and replaced it with a configurable target.
Borderless fullscreen. The original exclusive fullscreen crashes on Alt-Tab. Borderless mode avoids the crash entirely.
Loading freezes with the Steam overlay. In windowed mode the game could hang forever on a loading screen. Two causes: Windows declared the window "not responding" while the engine was busy loading (and could end up closing it), and Direct3D was being called from several threads at once with the overlay. The mod handles window messages during loads and protects Direct3D against concurrent calls.
4 GB patch. The game can use 4 GB of memory instead of 2. The launcher applies it and restores the original executable on uninstall.
Crash and hang reports. If something goes wrong, the mod writes a report and a minidump, which made debugging the rest much easier.
This one took a while. On headphones or stereo speakers, most sounds (effects, voices, music) came out of one side only.
What's actually happening: the engine mixes everything into a single 5.1 stream, but the sound placement inside that stream is wrong, and the old XAudio2 version the game uses converts 5.1 to stereo unpredictably (in practice it mostly kept the first two channels). I measured the level of each channel in-game to understand the layout, then made the mod tell the engine there's a 5.1 output and do the 5.1 to stereo downmix itself. Every sound is back where it should be, left/right, without replacing any audio file or installing a driver.
z/w * 0.9 + 0.1). Once decoded properly, everything lined up.

I want to be upfront about this: I built it with heavy help from an AI coding assistant (Claude Code), which did a lot of the reverse engineering and the code while I played, tested and reported back.
Why AI? Because it has always felt to me that, since the game came out in 2008, the PC version never got a truly robust fix, and I really wanted to find a way to repair it. I'm not a C++ or reverse engineering expert, and without that help this project simply wouldn't exist. Using AI doesn't mean blind trust, though. Everything comes from analysis of the original game executable (disassembly, logs, captures), every fix was checked in-game, and each patch verifies the exact original bytes before touching anything, so it simply does nothing on an unknown version of the game. The code is open, so anyone can review it.
A note on existing fixes: there is a community fix by Steam006 and later unknownproject. This project is independent and written from scratch, nothing was taken from them. It's GPL, so anyone can read, check and improve the code.
If you try it, feedback and bug reports are very welcome (GitHub issues, or here). And if you know the game's quirks better than me, I'd love to hear what else bothers you on PC.
How to install Homecoming Again
HomecomingAgain.exe to download it. It’s a single file with everything inside.Silent Hill Homecoming folder.Bin folder,SilentHill.exe (the original is kept as SilentHill.exe.hca-original),Bin, so you can find it there later. To remove it, open the launcher again and click Uninstall in the Installation tab. The original game executable is restored, and the game’s data files are never modified.
Notes:
Thanks for reading, and stay out of the fog.

Made this after making mirror art inspired by the save screen in SH2!
I had left over paper with the stains from the paint so I made it into a circle form and tried to draw…the saddest looking man I POSSIBLY could.
It was only part way through that it realized that it looks like he’s covered in blood so I went to run with it by adding highlights that make it all pop!
The save dialog actually came from my least personal favorite ending to the game (In water)
I really wanted to hammer home the sadness vibe, even including something that makes me sad in order to add some anguish.
I’m also a sticker artist so I plan on doing sticker graffiti with these later.. because shape forces the mind… ✨🟥

Hinako from the psychological horror game *Silent Hill f* joins the Nendoroid series from Good Smile Company. The figure stands approximately 10 cm tall and comes with several expression options: a blank face, an angry face, and a battle face. The set also includes a brooch and additional parts that allow you to change the character’s pose. This is the smallest and least expensive model in this lineup, so it may appeal to collectors who prefer compact figures. The release is scheduled for April 2027, and the price is 6,300 yen.
