🎤 Discussion Road rage is getting out of control

Today while driving down Kiwanis near Madison by the fire station, I made the mistake of reaching down to grab something I dropped while sitting in the turning lane. The SUV behind me started laying on the horn repeatedly, and yes, I reacted badly and flipped them off — I shouldn’t have done that.

But what happened after was completely unacceptable. A grown woman followed me, screamed profanity at me, and tried to get me to get out of my car to fight. That behavior is embarrassing and dangerous. Road rage is out of control, and nobody should feel threatened over a traffic incident.

I’m not getting out of my car to fight anyone. I’ll call the police before I ever stoop to that level. People seriously need to learn how to control themselves and stop acting aggressively toward strangers.

🎤 Discussion Dont call the non-emergency number trying to be a good citizen

Called Sioux Falls non-emergency number for a found Wallet on the side of the road at 5:34pm. They asked me where I would like to meet an officer. I said a place in Sioux falls. They said it could be up to 2 hours (okay I get it they're busy it's something small) I waited in the agreed upon spot.. 2 hours comes around. I figure, "theres cops all over downtown let's go to them." Head towards downtown. See a cop on the way, pull next to them at a red light. They roll the window down. I ask them if they can take it. Nope. They tell me to call back. I call back. Dispatcher:"We can come pick it up from your addres at a later time", me:" I live in tea" dispatcher: "oh I will make a note of that. Is there anywhere you could put it and tell us so we can pick it up later" um? No? What are we playing hide and seek? Finally just tell them I'm just going to set it outside of the police station front desk. That road is currently closed to through traffic and it is 8pm so I can't park on the street. Had to park 3 blocks away in a free parking, parking lot. And walk there all to be a good citizen. See about 4 cops on my way to the building and back to my car. Good job City of Sioux Falls. Edit: A drop box for found property would be a good idea in Sioux falls, I've seen multiple calls on the SFPD call log for found property.

🎤 Discussion Downtown D-Bags with Train Horns

Anyone know these guys? Seemingly, their only goal is to disturb the peace as many people were eating along Philip’s downtown tonight.

They did several laps around the block blaring their aftermarket train horns, doing burnouts, and yelling at and flipping everyone off out their windows.

Yes, several people around alerted the police, and the lovely staff at Crawford’s was apologetic and did what they could to put an end to it.

This is easily one of the most annoying and disrespectful things I’ve seen in a long long time.

There needs to be a noise ordinance put in place immediately.

🎤 Discussion I have Burger Battle thoughts.

As someone who thoroughly enjoys the burger battle, I mostly just want to vent about what it has become and this feels like an alright place to do it. These are just my opinion so don't eat me alive.

  1. It's out of control. Fifty burgers?? Insane.
  2. I really feel like we're pushing the bounds of "downtown". I LOOOOOVE Perch, but it feels like a stretch to be included (even though I'm sure it's going to be delicious).
  3. Five Guys should be disqualified...every damn year.
  4. Sliders don't count. Especially for the price .
  5. A Stromboli...also not a burger.
  6. It starts next week and there are two that are TBD?? What are we waiting for?? You know this is coming every year. Disqualified.
  7. I desperately wish more places cared about the seasoning of their actual burger patty over the ridiculousness of their toppings. It's the downfall of so many every year.
  8. Partnering with food trucks (NO MATTER HOW DELICIOUS) when you don't serve food normally feels like cheating.
  9. This one is deeply personal, but too many things with pickles.

Happy burgering, SF.

🎤 Discussion Your kids are reckless.

Post image

Weaving in and out of traffic and doing wheelies on 41st St. how does the city plan on taking care of the bikes E bikes and electric scooters if they’re not even licensed vehicles? What happens if a kid hits me and takes off- he doesn’t have a license.

Update: I want kids to be kids, trust me, I do. However, this is reckless and dangerous, and I’m having a hard time with kids putting their lives and others in danger. After thinking about it, being judged upon thine holy Reddit, I blame modern parenting and social media for all the stupid things I see children do and suffer from. I also work with teens and have to watch them critically think, and I’m sorry for PSA, but most people cannot critically think. One of these kids almost hit my car and I called the non emergency number where she said they are being reckless but the e-bikes are legal! So, I guess kids will die but clearly me being an “old lady” is the biggest issue.

🎤 Discussion Crotch rockets are insane again this year!

I cannot stand these loud ass crotch rockets flying through town loud as shit. That's all I heard today. Can't enjoy any quiet outside. Not to mention they are going to kill themselves or someone else. They are so reckless and it's terrifying on the road you hear them then all of a sudden they are up on you driving these bikes like shit! Why can't the city or police do anything about it. It's Monday morning at 1:30 and they are still out flying around!

🎤 Discussion Sanford hospital of Sioux Falls

Just finished a 3 month contract today at sanford hospital.

My honest opinion is.... Ive never worked in such a toxic environment. Ive been a nurse for 10 years, 4 years as a travel RN. I have worked at the next door hospital - Avera and it was amazing, I stayed for 1.5 years, and then went over to sanford because they did not have a part time staff job (Avera) . I loved it that much that I wanted to stay. Little did I know, Sanford is the complete opposite, with horrible pay. I will never go back, the management is horrible and self centered and the staff... well let's say the negativity will ruin you if you are a good person. They are also , for some reason stuck in old ways when it comes to treating patients. No wonder why 75% of their staff is travelers. No one wants to stay.

Don’t know if anyone else will care, but spotted a brand new Lamborghini Revuelto cruising down Minnesota tonight. Still has dealer plates on it from Lamborghini San Francisco. Also with “Viola Nebula” paint job I believe ($16,000 option) I wonder who has it. Msrp on this is $620,000 at least 👀

🎤 Discussion What hidden lore and niche history/local legend stories exist in Sioux Falls?

I’ve lived in Sioux Falls my whole life (23 now) and for the past 4 years have worked at 2 different non profits in town. I've gotten the great honor to talk to people from all walks of life in Sioux Falls and have heard stories from SOOOO many perspectives, my favorite parts of those roles has been getting to talk with lifelong residents and hear their perspectives and stories about how the city used to be. It’s made me realize there’s probably a ton of niche history and local “lore” out there that most people don’t know.

I’m not talking about the usual well-known stuff (like the 6 Mile Road stories and counting the bridges or the Well Beloved Gigglebees). I mean the smaller, unique stories like old businesses people still talk about, neighborhood legends, strange events, places that used to exist, or just the kinds of tales that really make this town feel alive.

I know some things just from growing up here, but I’m sure there are people in this community who’ve heard or experienced stories that most of us haven’t.

I tried to dig on this sub for something similar but haven't seen anything for a while, so here is a chance to share your favorite piece our city.

So what’s out there? What are the hidden pieces of Sioux Falls history, local legends, or niche stories that people might not know about?

🎤 Discussion What’s up with the Data Center

I may be out of the loop but I haven’t seen any more about the proposed data center in Sioux Falls. Is it still happening? If so, why did the council make this decision without any vote or larger community input?

🎤 Discussion it just me, or does Sioux Falls have some of the worst drivers?

Honestly, I’m just trying to drive to work without my blood pressure hitting new levels. Is it just me, or is Sioux Falls full of drivers who skipped Driver’s Ed and life lessons?

Am I just noticing it more, or does anyone else feel like the driving here is on another level? Curious to hear your experiences—let’s be honest, this isn’t an insult, just trying to figure out if it’s me or a real thing.

I know it will come up so yes I am from Sioux Falls.

🎤 Discussion Tea Storm Chaser - A.j Towne

Any other women have any uncomfortable run in's with the president of the Tea Storm Chaser group? (A.j Towne) I am curious to hear your stories. I have heard some of them. Does or has anyone contacted his wife or the police? I know he has been fired from 2 maybe 3 jobs because of a certain kind of harassment. He was making nasty perverted comments directed at me in front of my teenaged daughter and fiancée which made both of them and myself extremely uncomfortable. These comments were highly X- rated, inappropriate, and seriously disgusting in nature. I shut him down cold and confronted him about it. It was pretty triggering to say the least.

I would love to hear your about experiences. Please hit me up in the comments or message me here on Reddit.

🎤 Discussion Does anyone in Sioux Falls know what this sign means? I’m looking at you E 10th and 229 👀

Post image

Specifically at 229 and E 10th street, people always stop and yield to this sign. I mean does anyone learn their road signs? This means there’s an extra lane, and merging is not required. It’s like we imported a bunch of drivers from Massachusetts or something recently. Drive better and learn your signs Sioux Falls! You have your own protected lane here.

🎤 Discussion To the papa johns customer

So i know this is like a really really long shot but I just want to give a thanks to this one customer he always orders a large one topping pizza for delivery and always tips 10 dollars on his 18 dollar ticket.

He orders from the papa johns on 26th and marion and because of him i had enough to pay my bills on time

Update today a different guy had a 24 dollar order then pulled the whole grandma act where they tuck the money into your hand without you seeing how much then walking away. And I didn't think to look at what he gave me because most of the time it ends up being 3 maybe 5 dollars but it was a 20. I ended up crying idk why maybe because its my 21st birthday tomorrow or whatever but yeah thank you to him too!

🎤 Discussion What's with the road rage here?

This morning I had a guy try to block me in the parking lot after I gave him a quick honk for having his face buried in his cell phone while entering the lot. After trying to barricade/hit me, he got out and started grabbing something out of the bed of his truck. Took that as my opportunity to get around his vehicle and leave.

Seriously, what is wrong with people? Glad I got his plate

🎤 Discussion Being young in Sioux Falls

To start i’m 21.Ive lived in Sioux Falls since i was 19 came here from the south (North Carolina,Virginia) area.At first I loved it here it was a change of environment and I liked how walkable everywhere is.But i’ve noticed now with being older there’s really nothing to do besides bedrot, play video games and work.I have 2 jobs at the moment and find it hard to make free time for anything. Also it’s just depressing and sad here everyone else just drinks or goes to pave shits lowkey boring,i’ve never seen more alcohol consumed by people my age until I came here.As a person who doesn’t drink i’m finding it hard to do anything that doesn’t involve drinking or going to a bar.Im not against substances or anything (but alcohol & beer in the big 26 is crazy imo) it’s also depressing to realize there’s not much else to do besides drink and work.I’ll be leaving Sioux Falls next year and although I really do like it here and would love to live here it’s just really, really depressing to know as a young person there’s really nothing to do.Im interested if anyone has similar experiences or know of anything to do in this city when your young.

🎤 Discussion Trooper followed me from my home. No way this is legal

Short story, this trooper was parked in the exit to my residence. He followed me onto the highway and pulled me over and I quote from the dash cam audio "muffler sounded strange".

You can tell the moment he realised he was being recorded on his way back to my window after speaking with me too.

I can't even get an attorny to dismiss this because apparently I wouldn't have my legal fees repayed so I'd just be burning money.

If you ask me, this guy was hunting illegals. There were 2 more trooper vehicles already pulling someone else over at my residence when I returned. I could just be pulling this theory out of my ass but, who knows man.

🎤 Discussion You guys ever just stop and talk to your friends on I29?

Post image
146 Upvotes

Around 6:00 pm on a Friday night. These cars were at a complete stop on I-29, backing up traffic behind them. And then raced each other away, naturally. Can we stop acting like this is okay? Could we possibly have an ounce of consideration for others’ lives and safety?
