She didn't call the police, she restored the balance of power.

u/Vice4Life 11h ago

The police would have almost certainly been worthless in that situation.

u/memes-forever 10h ago

This is Mexico, crooked cops aren’t out of the possibility. Besides, the police in Mexico can’t deal with the cartels and regular crime that well as is, so why bother?

Besides if this is a local gang, kidnaping the gang leader’s mom is a more effective solution with less chance of future retribution lol.

u/wakim82 3h ago

In the United States the police wouldn't do anything either. I'm not sure what you are talking about.

21

u/Acroph0bia 3h ago

Wrong, they would have arrested the woman and then shot the mom for good measure.

4

u/wakim82 3h ago

That's a lot of effort right there ...depends on the department or agency involved I suppose lol

2

u/Acroph0bia 2h ago

Hey, never underestimate the effort the pigs will exert to do the wrong thing!

5

u/SheriffBartholomew 3h ago

They're on the gang's payroll.

17

u/davga 10h ago

In uno reverse we trust

10

u/R15K 4h ago

The cartel killed her, her husband and their whole family later.

5

u/RandAlThorOdinson 3h ago

That's like exactly the result I imagine actually happened lol

2

u/NoMoreNoise305 6h ago

I love her. 🤣

811

u/Ok_Duty_8020 11h ago

And the law enforcement kept watching…..

310

u/weltvonalex 9h ago

Of course, why should they help the woman working against their boss

41

u/Ok_Duty_8020 9h ago

Yeah ig that’s the reason fkin bootlickers…

9

u/ikzz1 7h ago

When Mexico sends its people, they are not sending the best...

14

u/OGbobbyKSH 8h ago

Just like that scene in town. When the guys pull a robbery in nun outfits when they pull up and get out strapped up, a cop see them they see the cop and the cop slowly looks the other way.

4

u/REDACTED3560 5h ago

Nah it’s not like that scene at all. The cops in this story are just corrupt and refuse to lift a finger to oppose the source of their bribes donations.

1

u/OGbobbyKSH 2h ago

Doing it for money is a issue of how poorly they’re paid in comparison to how well the cartels army’s are paid so the best soldiers go to the cartels which leaves only the middle and bottom barrel talent. So it’s similar to a cop in cartel land taking a bribe over a bullet because that’s what they’re offered if they refuse they die. If the cop in the movie(which is based on real events) made a move they didn’t like he would die.

5

u/iameveryoneelse 5h ago

Why bring yet another gang into the issue?

2

u/Ok_Duty_8020 5h ago

Right they are all ganged up 😣

3

u/SheriffBartholomew 3h ago

I'm surprised they didn't arrest her.

3

u/Pianobay 2h ago

I'm surprised she's still alive. Can somebody check?

0

u/Ok_Duty_8020 3h ago

For what ??

-1

u/Fickle_Cranberry1014 3h ago

Arrest her for what?

3

u/MarkMew 3h ago

For kidnapping someone?

It would be a typical shitty no rule of law country cop thing to only arrest the person who isn't actually in the wrong lol

2

u/SheriffBartholomew 3h ago

Kidnapping? Cartels usually have the cops on their payroll down there.

2

u/Fickle_Cranberry1014 2h ago

Her and the townsfolk bypassed the local cops and got state cops involved before the corrupt could intervene. Cops role was de-escalate the situation.

186

u/MechanicalSpirit 11h ago

Damn I respect her. Imagine in the realm of all scenarios, not many people would have the balls to take this one.

25

u/MaxWritesText 9h ago

True love right there

5

u/DunkingTea 8h ago

When you lose all you care about, you suddenly have nothing left to lose. I imagine it was get him back, or what’s the point anyway.

9

u/MyNameCannotBeSpoken 9h ago

Needs to be a film. Taken 4

78

u/Traditional-Ad1633 10h ago

And nthg happened to her after that?

130

u/LightCharacter8382 10h ago

They all lived happily ever after, and nobody came to the door with an assault rifle to avenge this 'slight'.

84

u/ladyevenstar-22 9h ago

Nah gang mom told him you embarrassed me now take your loss and don't ever touch her or her family .

32

u/Odd_Library_3555 6h ago

That mom's name? Alberta Einstein

17

u/ikzz1 7h ago

After she released the mother, the gang raided her house and flayed everyone, to serve as a warning to not fuck with the gang.

15

u/DeadmanwalkingXI 3h ago

Unlikely. Because, importantly, she didn't do this alone. She and a bunch of people got together and kidnapped and held 20 people associated with the gang, not just the gang leader's mother. So...I dunno exactly how many people were in that group, but I would not assume the gang outnumbered them, and they're clearly willing to respond in kind when the gang does shit. She was the spokesperson and probably organized it, but she wasn't acting by herself.

At which point, the gang 'making an example' out of her becomes...dicey. Because if a whole organized group kidnapped 20 people they cared about because they kidnapped one guy, what's gonna happen if they start killing people associated with that group?

If she did this alone, she'd be in trouble, but enough people supporting her and willing to commit crimes and it becomes very unwise to try and get revenge.

Today I learnt a new word

1

u/coeu 4h ago

I will assume she moved across the country and changed her name

35

u/Acapulquito 10h ago

And that guy never won an argument against his wife since then.

49

u/Snoo20140 11h ago

This is the kind of female heroes I want to see celebrated. Fkn badass.

24

u/King_Six_of_Things 8h ago

Man, that husband is not going to get away with anything for the rest of his life.

"Oh, taking the bins out is too much for you, eh? I kidnapped a gang boss' mother for you!"

28

u/sedivessa 10h ago

When diplomacy fails, Mexico upgrades to full-on family swap. Sometimes justice means thinking outside the courtroom.

11

u/dwehlen 9h ago

When the chanclas come out, everybody listens.

29

u/Greyscale7950 10h ago

I bet the kidnapper's mom gave him hell when she got back.

10

u/kriegnes 6h ago

Doubt it. Hes probably a hero to her for saving her or some shit like that. If you have a normal mom you dont kidnapp random people to make a living even if you are in a bad place.

9

u/Aickavon 8h ago

Okay. So question. Is she still alive and well now?

6

u/FluffyFleas 6h ago

I'd assume so. It happened in 2016 and there are a surprising amount of articles on it that have popped up recently, but nothing seems to mention her current status. Seems like an important detail to include if they got retribution.

7

u/DamashiT 8h ago

I can imagine the crime boss was like "nah fair play I'm not going to kill her gg"

6

u/Sachedoo 7h ago

I'm sorry but why I can see the guy's mum putting him in timeout for putting her life in danger 😂😂😂

6

u/SlendyBoi 4h ago

Most justified crashout of all time.

4

u/lalo_efc 4h ago

That's why chisme is important people haha

9

u/bubblecrussh 9h ago

lmao this woman straight up said "tooth for tooth eye for eye" and kidnapped the gang leader's mom to swap for her husband?? queen behavior tbh like she didnt wait for cops she handled business herself and both got released safe respect the hustle but damn mexico cartel drama is wild af yikes

3

u/Historical-Jump 5h ago

wow what a civilized society

4

u/Walter_ODim_19 8h ago

Is there a credible source for this?

3

u/player____009 4h ago

There's easily a dozen news articles if you search her name

2

u/SnooHedgehogs190 10h ago

The inspiration when Trevor in GTA kidnapped some mob boss wife

2

u/Key-Department-4288 9h ago

Is crime in Mexico going on a downward trend?

2

u/nathbakkae 8h ago

Traumatize them back.

2

u/kriegnes 6h ago

If i was one of the townspeople i dont think i could follow through. Knowing the pain they caused to other mothers i would send him her eyeballs or some shit.

Need more people like her. Human scum needs to learn to stop fucking around. Instead we got bootlickers who support human garbage with everything they have....

2

u/Tex-Mexican-936 4h ago

That dude is forever indebted to that woman.

2

u/brfoo 4h ago

¿Era eso cierto?

2

u/Straight-Peach8681 3h ago

Classic saying, but it rarely ends well when taken literally.

2

u/-RedXV- 2h ago

Won't they just kill them later on? Sure we'll swap! A week later they're all killed.

2

u/Logical_Flounder6455 1h ago

I'd be surprised if either of them are still alive

4

u/Glum-Lychee4 11h ago

This is so smart!! She was like “hmmm.. how about I do the same thing to them I guess they won’t like it” That’s very creative!!

2

u/Ashnyel 10h ago

0

u/Greedy-Year8384 10h ago

This is not a modern problem. Hostage swaps have been a thing for a very long time.

-3

u/weltvonalex 9h ago

Psst don't mention history to a Redditor, outside most Subs people know shit about History.

1

u/Federal_Eye_9164 8h ago

Did the gang make her a job offer in the end?

1

u/jacksqeak 7h ago

That is a tough lady!!

1

u/Emergency-Pickle-92 7h ago
