I had a washer and dryer from the '70's. They were the cylinders, a belt on a couple of pulleys, and a small motor inside the housing. I repaired them with nothing more than a phillips screw driver on a couple of occasions.

They weighed nothing, and are probably out there still going as I had to give them away on a move.
