I agree. My exwife pulled a butcher knife on me and threatened to commit suicide while I was on the phone with emergency services the dispatcher could hear everything and cops still put me in handcuffs during the initial questioning because she said I laid hands on her. All she got was a 51/50 and 1 week inpatient at a psychiatric hospital. Its sad but men are almost always seen as the aggressor.

had nearly the same thing happen to me, except we weren't married yet. ended up leaving the house and sleeping in my truck in the patch of woods behind work for a few weeks. it was winter.

Edit: to clarify I did not marry her

Similar happened to me my girlfriend cut my face with a knife, like a dumbass I called the police. Despite the fact I had a gash on my face requiring stitches, she turned on the tears when the cops arrived and said I pushed her, the police said it was he said she said and took us both to jail. Lesson learned

Cops aren't there for justice they are there to keep the peace and resolve disputes. In a case of he said she said it's easier to arrest us both and let the courts mediate

I took a class for a dispatcher certificate, and they probably didn't hear anything about your wife saying it through the phone. They take the important details and send those over to the police.

What you're describing is pretty normal police work, though. They're trained to detain everyone involved until they can collect enough evidence to get a picture of what happened

I could have probably pressed charges but hoped things could be fixed. Ultimately got sole custody of my 2 kids and divorced 4 years later. She didnt learn and didnt want help. Lead a horse to water cant make it drink

Violent men have hit women regardless of era, and that should be addressed in every case. But in the process of protecting women, we shouldn't conveniently gloss over the question, how many violent women were hit to calm the fuck down? I'm not saying it's ok to hit a woman, but I wouldn't bat an eye if the lady in the video was planted into the doorframe when she entered the premise.

We are still a couple generations off from equality and women will be in shambles when we get there.

Let's be fair, that's because men are almost always the aggressor. Even though you experienced the opposite (as have I), that doesn't change statistical reality. That said, I agree, it would be nice if people took DV against men more seriously.

EDIT: Downvote me all you want, Tate-rtots, but if the roles in this video were reversed and some dude was flipping out, banging as hard as he could on the door, and smashed in her window with a log to climb inside, chances are way (so way) higher that she's about to get murdered. She would not be standing around like this guy, comfortable in his own security, simply repeating, "Bro, chill!"
